That Mumsnet should drop the D?

Adding D to all family, friends and pets is ridiculous! To see adults referring to their "DH" who has subjected them to assault or abuse is particularly nauseating. And DDog! FFS! Is it not just time to drop the D?

I've now got Bros's 'Drop the Boy' as an ear worm.

Ah, the late 80s.

Beargrumps22 · 25/07/2023 19:54

DGP - darling guinea pig!

DGP - darling guinea pig!

'D' essential to avoid Mumsnetters confusing your furry friend with your local doctor!

HorseyMel · 25/07/2023 19:57

Mumsnetters should definitely drop the D from DSS and DSD, based on some of the threads I've seen!

SashaPearce · 25/07/2023 20:00

My world has been rocked by posters stating the ‘D’ stands for ‘dear’. I always assumed it was ‘darling’

If you use 'DGPs' you'll have the added fun of nobody knowing whether you're taking about your guinea pigs, grandparents or doctors 🧐

😂

I’m commenting on here for Dpets! What others has there been over the years? I’ve only heard of Ddog and Dcat but according to this thread there is apparently been Dfish and Dhamster.

Sorry OP to derail completely but the Dpets are making me chuckle! Maybe it needs its own thread. Grin

OMG, DFish and Dhamster ... 😆 WTAF?! 😂

Some people write reams and reams of back story with great detail but yet “husband”’is too much to type in full

IslaSkywalker · 25/07/2023 22:05

YallaYallaaa · 24/07/2023 15:23

The best I’ve seen is Dgekko

I think it’s funny!

Anyone got a DSnake or a DKomodo Dragon?

FlipFlop1987 · 25/07/2023 22:12

I feel a bit daft using it too. I don’t think it saves times either now we have smart phones with predictive text. If I type ‘Hu’ husband immediately comes up but to type DH actually takes longer to puts the caps on and off again.

Mumsnet needs to change its name to parentsnet.

No way! The blokes can stay if they behave though

ObviouslyNameChanged99 · 25/07/2023 22:19

@TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening

It was Babyworld. Don't think it exists anymore. And AF was used a lot too.

Ineedwinenow · 25/07/2023 22:24

I wonder what Dave the Millipede would be from the thread about thrush cream? Surely we can’t have another DM Grin

Dkomododragon would be awesome!!

Jeannie88 · 25/07/2023 22:27

Still not sure what the D means? Darling, dear, dismembered, dysfunctional, diabolic?

Blinky21 · 25/07/2023 22:51

The D is cringey

ThinWomansBrain · 25/07/2023 22:54

if I reply when anyone is posting about abusive DP/DH I usually put the "D" in inverted commas.
anything's an improvement on 'hubby'

pollymere · 25/07/2023 22:58

Well my H is mostly a Darling and sometimes a Dick. So it's fitting...

ThinWomansBrain · 25/07/2023 23:00

& I desperately want someone to have a DDonkey now🐴

ImSoShiney · 25/07/2023 23:35

Came here to find out where the mumsnet dick was. Disappointed.

Hummingbird10 · 26/07/2023 00:36

I thought the D stood for darling
