Why use gender when you mean Sex ?

Why do people ask the gender of their baby or have gender reveal parties ? The correct question is what sex is my baby or maybe I’m just getting totally fed up of woke nonsense.

It matters when males use their "gender identity" to invade and occupy female sex protected spaces.

Because for reasons better know to themselves some people think sex and gender are interchangeable. And also some muppets can´t pronounce the word S E X without getting the vapours...

So on the one hand trans women are bad because they uphold narrow definitions of what it means to be a woman, but on the other hand trans women are bad because they challenge what it is that a woman has to look like?

Transwomen are men. They don't have the right to say what a woman should look like or to define what a woman is.

Trans women are men and don’t belong in women’s single sex spaces. Other than that they can dress and present however they like

a man presenting as a woman (however women present - i mean I assume we’re not all sat here wearing identical clothes) can’t challenge how a woman looks because they’re not a woman. He can however challenge what a man looks like

I couldn’t ever see myself inviting guests to a sex reveal party.

The only thing getting attention about a transman giving birth is whether the cross sex hormones they have been taking prior to pregnancy are harmful to the fetus. Otherwise there is nothing unusual about a woman giving birth, regardless of how that woman identifies.
Also, if a woman feels so dysphoric about her sexed body that she has to take cross sex hormones and present as a man, surely being pregnant and giving birth would be extremely distressing.

Words are used to write laws and policies.

You may believe sex and gender are the same thing, but if those who write and enforce laws and policies don't, you will find very quickly that rights and protections you thought you had based on your sex, like the right to say you want your smear test done by a person the same sex as you (female), are actually based on gender, and all you have is the right to say you want your smear test done by a person who believes they are the same gender as you, a person who could be either male or female as long as they declare they feel like a woman.

It's a gender reveal party because if you say you're having a sex party, people get the wrong idea...

Yes. In switching the definition of woman from "any kind of person, as long as she has a female body" to "any kind of body, as long as she has a woman's personality" they are going back to old fashioned and sexist ideas about how women's minds work. It is very definitely a narrower definition of womanhood than simple recognition of body sex.

It hurts women (original female people) twice. It hurts us by limiting expectations of women mentally from fully rounded humans to a prescribed set of "womanly" character traits, and it hurts us by removing the recognition of how our biological differences to men affect our lives and therefore prevents us getting the female-specific support we need, whether that is PPE that fits, or working patterns that allow for nursing infants, or women-only football.
