Friend topless in front of DH

Went to a friend's house - just her, me and DH. I went to the loo. When I came back in the room, she was breastfeeding her 8-month-old.

She'd removed whole top and bra on both sides, so was topless, with the non-feeding boob not covered up by baby. DH was doing a decent job of keeping his eyes on her face though 🤣

AIBU to think that's a bit odd?

I know I can't ever comment to her. Just wondered what to make of it privately, especially since she's always been a wee bit flirty with DH.

But I've never breastfed... so maybe this is normal, or maybe I'm just a prude. Would you breastfeed alone with a friend's DH? And if so would you cover up more than this?

Asked DH what he'd think and he said he wouldn't think she was flirting as only my boobs were attractive when filled with milk (I think it was the size that he liked) but he pulled this face 😯 and said it'd make him feel doubly uncomfortable as he knows it's not the norm to strip your top half off when breastfeeding.

Even if the woman thought it normal and necessary she maybe could have read the room and realised an adult male might have found this situation uncomfortable, I would be a bit WTF personally myself regardless of a male being present.

Yes but if she does this at home all of the time then it’s reasonable for her to do it in company and not realise what she’s actually doing.

Is she very militant about breastfeeding too? I came across a couple of women like that. Whereas everyone else I knew who BF just got on with it and no one batted an eyelid (I BF DD for more than 3 years with no negative comments whatsoever) there were a couple of women who were very militant about it, very exhibitionist when feeding and who would then be outraged if they thought someone had looked at them or wrote angry letters to anywhere they perceived wasn't welcoming to them.

My mate breastfeeds a similar way but it’s more she forgets that her boobs are on show and I think it’s epic!! 😂. Wouldn’t bother me if she was that way in front of my dh. She once had breastfed her child….then the door went and she went and it was the dpd man. She carried on but noticed him looking at her really strange and 5 mins after she shut the door she realised she had both boobs on display which I think is just an awesome story!

This is such a shitty take, I hate when people say this sort of thing. Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn’t mean you can be rude and sarcastic. So what if we feel that’s it’s not an issue and you do? It’s different opinions, no one is trying hard to be cool. Such a crappy attitude.

Never seen anyone remove their clothes to breastfeed before, she waited until you left the room too

I never needed to flash my boobs or remove any clothing to feed any of my kids. Weird.

I breast fed my 3 babies, but always did it discretely when others were around. On the side not in my little one's mouth, I didn't just leak - milk spurted out. When that happened, all I did was press firmly on my clothes on top of the nipple with a breast pad and it prevented any leakage. There was never any need to go top less and I wouldn't have wanted to embarrass anyone.

I don't know anyone who would get half naked to breastfeed when they had visitors.

Who forgets their breasts are out? Mine are quite big so there is no chance.

She was in her own home. If your DP, or you were that affronted by the way she went about feeding a baby in her own house you could both have left the room.

I’ve breastfed all 5 of mine and never needed to sit fully topless to do it. It seems odd to me. I don’t know that she was necessarily trying to seduce your husband or if she is just a bit bizarre.

Unusual it seems to me when others apart from DP or DH are around. I would have offered to leave the room for a short while.

I breastfed for almost a year and I can honestly say there was never a time, even alone at home, I felt it necessary to remove all of my upper clothing in order to do it. That screams exhibitionism imo.
