Should I collect them?

we always end up with surplus prawn cocktail crisps so a few months ago I asked my sister if she wanted them for the kids. She said she did so I took them over (a Tesco bag full). The week after I took another bag full and then the week after that I visited with another bag full. At this point she asked me not to bring anymore as they now had a cupboard full of them and she only allows her kids one packet a day and they don’t always want prawn cocktail.

So the week after I took the bag to the food bank and they didn’t want them either?!

Two weeks went past and I went to sister house and took two full bags of crisps and explained that the food bank didn’t want them. She agreed to take them. Now she’s asking me to collect them as she has too many. I already have a full bag here to get rid of and really don’t want to take any back so I suggested she pass them on to her neighbour. She said she can’t be arsed (to go next door??!) and that she wants me to collect them today. She initially agreed to take them so WIBU to say no? Nobody eats them here so they’d just go to waste.

The whole thing is driving me mad, my mum used to take them and now she’s refusing too.

🤣

RunningOutOfZzzzzzs · 16/07/2023 14:17

Put them on olio free app.

Someone else will definitely have them. But yes, collect them, she had already said she had too many and didn’t want them, you made her feel like she had to take them because the food bank wouldn’t.

Why do you have so many?
Can’t you just buy single flavour multipacks?

skyeisthelimit · 16/07/2023 14:17

does your sister have a bin? problem solved.

Exactly!

bitchinaldi · 16/07/2023 14:19

I'll have them Grin

Couldyounot · 16/07/2023 14:19

Take them into work, why not?

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 16/07/2023 14:19

Stop buying crisps you don't eat?! How many crisps are you getting through that you're producing a carrier bag a week of rejects?!

We don't eat prawn cocktail crisps either - I just don't buy them.

bananaboats · 16/07/2023 14:20

Why do you keep buying them?

bibbityboppityboo · 16/07/2023 14:21

How on earth are you ending up with bags of surplus prawn cocktail crisps?!

Are you a school maths test problem? If Burnsburnsburns has 43 bags of prawn cocktail crisps but palms 35 off to her sister, who returns 50% of the crisps but her mum takes 10% of the original number, how many bags of prawn cocktail crisps are left? 😂

towriteyoumustlive · 16/07/2023 14:21

It's the flavour that goes first here!!

SBHon · 16/07/2023 14:21

I fancy a pack now.

There must be better ways to buy crisps that don’t leave you with (weekly carrier bags full?? of) leftovers.

ImustLearn2Cook · 16/07/2023 14:22

She probably had no idea that you were going to bring bagfuls on a weekly basis. That is totally over the top.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 16/07/2023 14:23

This is so weird… first stop buying them if you don’t eat them or tell your kids they don’t get any new until they eat what is there. Second stop bringing them to your sister, clearly she doesn’t want want them. Third just throw them away if no one else wants them.

BillyNoM8s · 16/07/2023 14:23

Stop buying mixed multipacks and just buy the flavours you eat?

FlowersInTheSky · 16/07/2023 14:24

YABVU and yes you need to collect them. Just chuck them in your bin.

And try eating more healthily.

Peacoffee · 16/07/2023 14:24

So you turned up with them to physically pressure her into taking them when she had already explained that she didn’t want them, probably because you didn’t want the guilt of throwing them out and now you’ve passed that guilt into her. Pretty shitty.
It’s like turning up with 2 bin bags of kids clothes when someone says no and pretending you’re doing them a favour.

22 to the nearest bag?

Fallenangelofthenorth · 16/07/2023 14:26

I will swap you for salt and vinegar?

ThinWomansBrain · 16/07/2023 14:27

how many crisps do you eat to get that many left over prawn cocktail ones?

If this thread is triggering you, may I suggest you hide it?

You have literally no idea how healthily the OP and her family do/don't eat.

Not all foods are the enemy.

Candymay · 16/07/2023 14:28

I haven’t been on mn much recently but last night I thought I’d have a read for an hour. I’ve never before seen so many obviously silly threads posted. Do you think it’s one person? Or lots of similar people? Very odd. Is it the school holiday phenomenon that I’ve seen people mention in the past?

wholivesondrurylane · 16/07/2023 14:28

Did you rob the wrong factory and end up with Prawn cocktail crips by mistake?

babbscrabbs · 16/07/2023 14:30

Don't chuck them in the bin FFS

Why would people suggest that

Give them away via olio / Facebook

And then stop bloody buying them!
