Should I collect them?

we always end up with surplus prawn cocktail crisps so a few months ago I asked my sister if she wanted them for the kids. She said she did so I took them over (a Tesco bag full). The week after I took another bag full and then the week after that I visited with another bag full. At this point she asked me not to bring anymore as they now had a cupboard full of them and she only allows her kids one packet a day and they don’t always want prawn cocktail.

So the week after I took the bag to the food bank and they didn’t want them either?!

Two weeks went past and I went to sister house and took two full bags of crisps and explained that the food bank didn’t want them. She agreed to take them. Now she’s asking me to collect them as she has too many. I already have a full bag here to get rid of and really don’t want to take any back so I suggested she pass them on to her neighbour. She said she can’t be arsed (to go next door??!) and that she wants me to collect them today. She initially agreed to take them so WIBU to say no? Nobody eats them here so they’d just go to waste.

The whole thing is driving me mad, my mum used to take them and now she’s refusing too.

I’d always wondered who bought prawn cocktail flavour crisps.

Now I know.

AliceOlive · 16/07/2023 17:01

Brilliant thread.

User1367349 · 16/07/2023 17:18

For goodness sake, why do everyone saying to bin them?

Either don’t buy packs with prawn cocktail or find a way of giving them away (Facebook, freecycle, olio, trash nothing etc)

AliceOlive · 16/07/2023 17:20

Surely someone would love bags of prawn cocktail crisps delivered weekly.

Silvered · 16/07/2023 17:20

I reeeeally want some crisps now.

MRex · 16/07/2023 17:21

6 bags of prawn cocktail crisps in a month! You're mad! Why are you buying so many crisps you don't like?

WildUnchartedWaters · 16/07/2023 17:22

I love prawn cocktail.

That aside- why are you buying multi packs (and by the eound of it, lots) with flavours you dont want?

I think you are being absolutely ridiculous expecting your sister to deal with this.

ClearConfusion · 16/07/2023 17:22

Too many packets of crisps, isn’t really a problem. Well, maybe a first world problem.

Neverknowinglysensible · 16/07/2023 17:23

Prawn Cocktail are the Devil’s crisp. Why do crisp manufacturers ruin otherwise lovely multi-packs by insisting on including them?

You take that back!

skyeisthelimit · 16/07/2023 17:26

Yes, OP could bin them, but they are at the sisters, so the OP shouldn't have to drive there just to collect them and take them home and bin them when the sister could easily do that herself. OP's post is "should I collect them"

No of course the first option is not binning them, I give away anything here that we don't want, to foodbank or friends/family, but OP was asking if she should drive to her sister to collect them, not the wider question of what else OP could do with them....

If you dump unwanted items on people, you should resolve the matter when they ask.

We had a family member that was forever brining things no one wanted. Because they didn’t want to feel like they were being wasteful. It’s not great!

Yes she should.

They were hers in the first place! Take them to the neighbours indeed

Hurrayforfridays · 16/07/2023 17:33

Also if it's so simple to give them to a neighbour, why don't you just do this OP? Just weird buying so much of a thing you don't want....

Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 16/07/2023 17:36

Can you just stop buying them??

Ladysaurus · 16/07/2023 17:56

Another who will gladly take them off your hands. They're one of my faves.

Invisimamma · 16/07/2023 18:11

Do you live near me? My Ds only eats prawn cocktail 😂

grunttheterrible · 16/07/2023 18:19

First flavour to go here! 😂

KatsuYum · 16/07/2023 20:03

So you don’t eat them, have tried to give them away and are now thinking about collecting them.

then what’s your plan? I mean do you even have room in your house now for all these PC crisps?

Gingernaut · 16/07/2023 20:08

Stop buying prawn cocktail crisps, you weirdo

If you're consuming variety multipacks to such an extent that you've got that many left, you really are eating too much junk food

Either stick to variety multipacks that don't have prawn cocktail packets in them, or learn to chow down on those as well

Either way, stop living off crisps

Annaishere · 16/07/2023 20:08

Put them in a basket in town for hungry people

Verystressedsenmum · 16/07/2023 20:36

This thread is bonkers
why would anyone buy crisp they don’t like therefore creating a problem
a food-bank refusing to take them rubbish .
although very entertaining op
