Why do men walk around with their hands down their trousers. It's disgusting and I see it all the time. AIBU to think something should be said and done about it?

I have a certain sympathy with men and their need to adjust the accoutrements in their trousers ... it must be so uncomfortable ... I am surprised they do not do it more often. I would not like all that stuff cluttering up my knickers ... and as for riding a bike ....! .... ouch!

By the way the phrase is ... as per my grandma (a cockney) .... "Keep yer 'and on yer 'apeny" ... this exhortation uttered to us when we were off out for the evening, and was an instruction to protect your genitalia from male ingress.

It's disgusting, I had to laugh the other day though I was waiting for someone and saw a man doing this over the road, then he stopped and his friend came along and they shook hands, I nearly choked laughing thinking if only he'd have known where his hands had just been lol 😂

Proper briefs would help (not y fronts they have easier access!) and belt loops on joggers (and compulsory to wear a belt unless doing sport ) honestly it's easy access that's the issue, thankfully I have no sons and neither my exh nor current dp would be seen dead in joggers

I was in a Waitrose (yes really) in a Surrey town on a Sunday morning and there was a guy in there is swearshorts, like he had just rolled out of bed, with his hands down the front of his shorts, jiggling his bits. He was heading for the bakery section. I got ahead of him and grabbed what I wanted. He picked up some loose bread rolls, no tongs. Grim. I was so angry. I had to bite back you dirty bastard. Saw him again at the self serve tills. Had theurge to start punching him but resisted him. Just disgusting.

I stayed in halls the first two years of university with heaps of other kids from farming properties. It was the first and only time I’ve seen it. I’m talking guys constantly having one hand down their pants. They all went on to be corporate types and I bet they are not doing it (in public) anymore.

I used to joke with my friends that this was one of our dating prerequisites. Keeps hands out of pants.

I work with young offenders. They are politely asked to remove their hands from their pants before I speak to them and I explain that I taught my son to stop doing this when he was three and that I'm sure they can manage to keep their hands off their penis for 10 minutes. If they do it more than once, they don't get to engage with me, I HATE IT.

Very common in male prison where I used to work.
Grey track suit, hands down trousers. I sometimes see ex prisoners at bus stops locally. They are still.doing it.

I actually adjust my breasts from the outside if I see a guy walking towards me tweaking his privates a bit too much they always look a it shocked and sometimes I say well if you can do it.

I know why! As with the trousers being worn under their arses, this is also a prison culture thing. The trousers falling down is due to not being allowed belts in prison, the hands in trousers is due to prison attire (grey joggers) not having pockets so they all walk around with their hands in their trousers. It's young people trying to pretend they're 'hard' as they've done 'tine', but the original meaning has probably been lost by now.

Trying out my 'I am carrying a concealed weapon in the front of my pants', it goes with my gangster walk, my hood up, low on the eyes hoodie (even though I am slowly dying from overheating) . I am struggling though because I want to wear my trousers under my bum to signify I have been in a hard time prison (I haven't because my mum would kill me), but do the weapon hiding thing at the same time and I can't get the waistband levels right.

I used to work with young people in South London and they'd do this. I found that a mummy voice and "take your hand out and wash your hands NOW" worked wonders. They'd magically transform from wannabe gangsters into the sweet young men they had been raised to be.

Ditto all the limpy walking nonsense as well. Charming young people but yuk to the hand.

One was doing it outside my granddaughter's primary school. I politely asked him why he was playing with his genitals outside a school. He stopped very quickly.
It's one of my biggest loathes. It should be illegal to have your hands down your trousers in public.
