To not get the Taylor swift hype?

I have my hard hat on.
Probably going to get my arse handed to me on a plate.

I really don't get all this fuss about Taylor swift, I just find her utterly boring. All this fuss about midnight / album / preorders / codes to then try and attempt to get tickets in Scotland when you live on the cliffs of lands end. Threads and threads about it and people planning their outfits when the gig is a year away, I thought gig attire was jeans and a tour T shirt?! From various YouTube videos I've seen of her singing live I have to say I wasn't impressed at all. Mediocre voice, dodging high notes. I'm obviously a minority here as there's people willing to sell a kidney to just get a code to be in with a chance of getting a ticket.

I saw Pink in Hyde park a few weeks ago where she was singing live, doing incredible acts, dancing, acrobats etc and it was incredible. I'm not trying to compare, but I just find Taylor so average!

Can anyone tell me why there's all of this hype. I'm fully aware my username is rather fitting.

(I'll get my coat..)

I think she’s okay, but the hype and the 3 hour. Arena shows are WAY over the top and ridiculously priced. DD wanted to go, friend found tickets -£300 EACH!

When I told DD the price even she thought it wasn’t worth it!
Ridiculous hassle to get extortionate tickets and out even more pressure on parents…

That wasn’t the price though - the normal tickets were fairly standard pricing, about double Niall Horan and half Paul McCartney (I’m using those for comparison because that’s what I’ve bought recently)

£300 is either VIP, or resale.., and again pretty much to be expected from any gig.

My tickets bought direct in the original presale were £95

My DP’s standard (not VIP, not particularly close) tickets to Paul McCartney are £185

We paid three hundred and something for four tickets as did most others I know which is a fair price and similar to other events.

Hahaha mumsnet police, that’s a good one. Maybe start your own thread? It’s annoying reading a post, going to comment and then realising that it’s a zombie thread that someone randomly resurrected….

God, you can’t bloody win in this place, can you? Start a new thread and you get rounded on for not noticing the other eleventy billion threads already in existence. Resurrect an old thread and you get criticised because someone spent 0.1% of their day reading it before they realised it was a zombie🙄

So are you saying the only two options are creating a thread on a topic that’s already been done to death or resurrecting an old thread so that you can add your two pence worth? Here’s a crazy suggestion, how about simply not writing down every single thought you have?

I think people tend to use MN as if this is Facebook or Twitter, a place where they can constantly voice their thoughts. If MN is a discussion forum, how can you comment on a thread that was made a year ago? What exactly is there to discuss when the conversation has very obviously come to a stop. I’m just trying to use my common sense and find the logic in that…

It’s a free world and I guess people can do what they want. However, there is a reason why MN have this written above the comment box of a zombie thread, ‘Heads up - this thread has not been posted on in a while. Why not start a new thread instead?’

She's a gimlet-eyed, ferret-faced, self-obsessed, manufactured bore. YMMV.

beguilingeyes · 25/06/2024 05:13

Lovely to see Paul McCartney dancing with the crowd yesterday. What an inter-generational crossover.

"Here’s a crazy suggestion, how about simply not writing down every single thought you have?"

Says person writing down her thoughts on a resurrected zombie thread therefore helping with said resurrection Hmm

I agree.

I've actually seen her live (years ago) and I found her incredibly mediocre, she is a terribly awkward dancer and I found her interactions with the crowd awkward. She just seems a bit socially awkward. Her voice is very average. The sets and stage look incredible at her shows and I think that's what really makes it, rather than her performance. It's all fluffed up as she herself is very average.

Can't put my finger on it. But she comes across like a young teenager in love for the first time. Never understood the hype!

Fantastic poet / song writer though.
