To feel absolutely disgusted eating eggs

Mummy2022FT · 15/07/2023 12:58

I love eggs made any way and this is why this upsets me.

But this morning (and has happened many times before) I was eating egg on toast for breakfast and half way through eating I was like ERRRR because I then realised what eggs actually are.

Anyone else?

Even typing that made me 🤢

You've fallen for vegan misogyny as well, then.

They're telling you that (inaccurately) to instil revulsion in you. Why should you be revolted? Because it's a human female biological function. So, to them, it's automatically disgusting.

ParadiseLaundry · 16/07/2023 08:47

I've often wondered why vegans don't eat eggs.

Like if they kept their own chickens so they knew they were happy and well looked after and they laid eggs (which were unfertilised (apparently happy chickens lay more eggs - happy to be corrected on this, I'm no expert!) then wouldn't they just be a total waste product and then they could eat them? Assuming they weren't disgusted by the idea in general of course, like the op and other.

How can anyone who feels like that, not realise the process of meat and how cruel and dick that is?

How the OP feels about eating eggs turned out to be because of something that isn't even true.

Doesn't even have to be your own chickens. I buy eggs from the farm gate and have seen the happy, healthy chickens scratching around doing normal, natural chicken things. I think it's to do with the killing of male chicks, though if the chickens were rescues then you are just rehoming them, playing no part in that.

Peony654 · 16/07/2023 08:57

No less weird than dairy or meat. At least eggs are natural and unprocessed

HairMb · 16/07/2023 08:58

They’re so bad for you now matter how nutrient dense they are. It’s like saying smoke a fag to get air.

Because there’s no need I guess.

Seriously, get help.

Are the English schools off on holiday yet?

Excuse me?

Why, I had to research it for years so I know why don’t like them.

HairMb · 16/07/2023 09:01

Are we on a teenage comment forum where other views aren’t allowed or what?

MasterBeth · 16/07/2023 09:01

Are we supposed to be impressed that grown adults are squeamish about nutritious food that humans have eaten for millennia? I find it pathetic.

MissPop · 16/07/2023 09:02

@MasterBeth

Me too. Grow up.

WedTheBed · 16/07/2023 09:05

@MasterBeth Eggs make me gag to eat them.. although I do like the yolk. I think it’s a texture thing and the once that taste quite strong of that real ‘eggy’ smell. - I’ve never liked them, but I don’t think I need to ‘grow up’ it’s just a food preference; I eat pretty much anything else and aren’t fussy at all.

I think it’s fine to have food your don’t like, as long as you’re not making comments and gagging at other people who may eat them. Each to our own isn’t it? 😄

Workbabysleeprepeat · 16/07/2023 09:06

@HairMb why are eggs as bad for you as smoking? Curious - I’ve never heard that before?

No but the Scottish schools are.

Toxic eggs! 😱

Jennalong · 16/07/2023 09:08

I once went with a friend who had become friends with someone who owned a chicken farm . We went into the barn where she was working . She had just sorted out all the chicks into females / males . The males are gassed or a few sold on for reptile food. That grossed me out. I'd never realised that happened .

There’s a difference between views and misinformation.

I don’t like eggs is a view, however strongly expressed. Eggs are unhealthy is misinformation.

This.

To say you don't like eggs is fine but to say they are a hen's period or worse than smoking is just lies.

Hard roll eyes.

Piss off PETA

Me too.

I had heard of competitive under-eating threads but not competitive I-hate-eggs-the-most threads.

You are fussy if you won't eat an egg

AN EGG!

Yes same here. I imagine the rest of the diet is mainly very beige with not much variety. A bit like a toddler.

I hate the thought of animals suffering so shop bought eggs make me feel sad.

Ones from local farms I'm ok with though.
