To feel absolutely disgusted eating eggs

Mummy2022FT · 15/07/2023 12:58

I love eggs made any way and this is why this upsets me.

But this morning (and has happened many times before) I was eating egg on toast for breakfast and half way through eating I was like ERRRR because I then realised what eggs actually are.

Anyone else?

I can’t eat them either as they make me feel queasy, something about the smell and texture and the fact they came out of a chicken. Not because I think they’re a chicken period though, that is ridiculous!

Eggs are the period of a hen

No... no they really aren't, you need to go back to biology class if you think that!

An egg is the (generally if you're buying commercial eggs) unfertilised ovum of a chicken/duck/quail...

Chickens don't menstruate, you are not consuming the shed lining of a womb.

MrsCarson · 15/07/2023 16:21

I've never liked eating eggs, not even as a child, no idea why, they don't repulse me, I just don't like them.
My mother would give them to us often so I told her they gave me a headache so she stopped giving me eggs.

BMW6 · 15/07/2023 16:27

You failed Biology didn't you OP.

Hens don't menstruate, because they are not mammals. They are birds.

blueshoes · 15/07/2023 16:30

OpP, you are talking out of your bottom.

Eggs are gross.

I don't know how anyone can eat egg mayonnaise as it smells repulsive.

Best sandwich ever!

DrManhattan · 15/07/2023 16:34

@Parky04 genuine question- how can you eat something that smells so disgusting. I can't get my head around it. I don't think I'm gonna post on this one anymore as its making me feel a bit vommy lol

Annaishere · 15/07/2023 16:37

i think the white bit is mucus

What are eggs actually?

When he was he was teenager my son used to announce very loudly and frequently that ' eggs are a hens period you know'.

uglybettty · 15/07/2023 16:39

I love eggs. But I did have a phase of not being able to eat them because they grossed me out. I got over it and and back to eating them. I love them poached, boiled with jammy yolks for dipping, scrambled...in a cake!

freecomsanex · 15/07/2023 16:39

I had to stop to eating them after a similar revelation, that was 10 years ago and I’ve not eaten them since. Sorry OP.

Elvis1956 · 15/07/2023 16:40

I keep chickens as pets, rescued from farms once they are commercially not wanted. In fact I had to bury one today, sadly.

I can confirm they don't miss their eggs, they don't get upset when you take them, will gladly eat their own egg.

eggs are lush and without people eating them..chickens would be culled in huge numbers

If anything this makes them sound worse than a period 🙈🤢

cushioncovers · 15/07/2023 16:41

I've always loved eggs until I got to the menopause now for some reason they repulse me.

It's weird because I used to love eggs, and then about 4 months ago they just randomly started to disgust me. The thought of a fried egg on my plate makes me feel sick. I have never switched off from something randomly like this before so I'm completely baffled

TheWelshposter · 15/07/2023 16:46

I've never been disgusted by eggs but have now just googled balut. Oh why. 🤢

Wanderingowl · 15/07/2023 16:48

Even typing that made me 🤢

Are you 12?

Ffs. What rubbish.

EmmaPaella · 15/07/2023 16:51

Love eggs. Can’t understand the ick except possibly for some people the texture. Even a bit of shell doesn’t bother me.

I do understand people not wishing to for reasons of animal cruelty. I was completely put off eating chicken after I watched Hugh Fearnley Wittingstall’s Chicken Out programme years ago. It did go into egg production. I decided on balance to carry on eating free range organic eggs. This is not a 100% cruelty-free solution but better than not bothering where they are from at all. I would love to see non-free range cheap chicken declining in popularity because of objections to cruelty.

IncomingTraffic · 15/07/2023 16:51

Do you like eating pate? because let’s hope you don’t realise what a liver is for.

caringcarer · 15/07/2023 16:57

No, if it hasn't affected you before why is it now? You must have known this for years.

Emmamoo89 · 15/07/2023 16:58

Nope

Emmamoo89 · 15/07/2023 16:58

liondreams · 15/07/2023 13:15

Yes they are super gross and disgusting. Not to mention even the "free range" ones are cruelly produced.

No they're not 🙄

TBF if you think about what you’re eating with any animal-derived product, it’s pretty gross. Even wearing leather is pretty weird. I love meat and eggs and cheese so I just make sure I don’t think about it. 🤷‍♀️

I love wearing leather. Proper leather not the fake shit
