To feel absolutely disgusted eating eggs

I love eggs made any way and this is why this upsets me.

But this morning (and has happened many times before) I was eating egg on toast for breakfast and half way through eating I was like ERRRR because I then realised what eggs actually are.

Anyone else?

Eggs are eggs.

Imagine some glamorous lady sipping from a china cup and daintily eating a bowl of trifle. Her red make-up on her lips is coloured from crushed beetles (carmine) and she’s sipping from a cup made from, amongst other things, powdered bones. The trifle has jelly made with gelatine - gelatine is from the gelatinous scum around the bones. Flour to make the sponge has a higher protein level as a certain about of crushed insects are permitted. Eggs to make the sponge are NOT bird periods (!!!) but are (usually) unfertilised eggs from chickens.

I like eggs, but got some duck eggs recently and somehow couldn't bring myself to eat them. I got the ick, in a way I never have from chicken's eggs. Silly.

I remember the “did you know an egg is a chicken period” take/meme doing the rounds on Twitter and Facebook a few years back. Didn’t think anyone was actually stupid enough to believe it.

If you don't eat eggs you may need to be taking a choline supplement. Eggs are one of the highest sources of choline. It's mainly found in animal foods but you'd need to be eating fish/meat for every meal to be getting enough choline in the absence of eggs in the diet.

A period is when you shed the lining of the uterus every month including the unfertilised ovum. A hen's egg is the actual ovum. A hen lays about 6 eggs a week. They are not fertilised and the hens don't miss them. I don't find it disgusting at all.

I am completely with you. Its just so disgusting. I am a veggie but I eat dairy although this comes and goes as sometimes I find this disgusting, too. I haven't eaten egg in about 17 years.

Although, to me an egg is closer to meat than dairy so if you eat meat I think its weird you don't like egg.

I like eggs, I also like bacon, steaks and all manner of meat. Unlike most processed foods of which many vegetarians are reliant, I know where my eggs come from (farm half way to work) where my meat comes from mostly (butchers has full traceability beef is grass fed etc) and we often have trout from the local lake (next to egg lady), along with veg from the local box scheme, throughout the main growing months most of my food is from within 20 miles. Milk is "West Country" so guessing they mix it in (plant is 15 miles away). Think I'll stick with being an omnivore.

Hens don’t have periods. They are not mammals, do not have a uterus and do not experience oestrus or menstruation.

No, I love eggs, duck, chicken, quail, delicious.

Hoping that all those people who've turned to eggs as a way of providing them and their kids with high-quality protein now that meat and fish are so unaffordable won't read this nonsense and go off them.

I avoid eating commercially produced eggs but that's a hen welfare issue, I have no problem eating the lovely eggs my girls produce. It's no more unpleasant than any other animal derived food product and a lot less bad than many.
Interesting egg fact of the day though. Last time we took a chicken to the vet she told me that chicken ovaries are on the left - they're not symmetrical. That surprised me, as I had just assumed there was one on either side but apparently not. I think she said snakes are the same.

I used to work at a racecourse where people drank a vats of alcohol and shoved tonnes of coke up their noses - I heard similar conversations from them. My personal favourite was a man telling his wife that hot dogs are actually pigs dicks. I’m a dyslexic no hoper but I felt like Einstein.

I can’t eat eggs either, nothing to do with them being chicken periods (because they’re not!) it’s the texture which is gross, no matter how they’re cooked.
