Ridiculously petty things that you can’t even say out loud

TheSlowRush · 14/07/2023 17:45

I’ll start.

This has been bugging me all day but I can’t say it out loud to anyone as it’s really not that bigger deal.

Parking is a huge issue where I live, not many people have ORP.

My elderly neighbour got rid of her car a few years ago, we are quite close and she has a driveway, so it was agreed that I could now park over her driveway meaning I am pretty much guaranteed a space right outside my house, rather than having to park halfway down the street.

My lodger has now begun using this space, she works from home a lot too so it’s there for days now sometimes. WAAAaa 🙈🙈.

I can say anything as I will sound like a selfish loon.

My mum very generously looks after my DS at my house once a week while I work. I am very, very lucky to have this arrangement. BUT, she stacks the dishwasher wrong and soaks the kitchen when she washes up and IT DRIVES ME MAD.

That allocated disabled bay outside my house is registered to me, my house, my car, my blue badge. It is not for you, cunting ignorant neighbour with three cars, to park in and leave one of your fucking cars in for weeks at a time. Oh, and you may wear a nurse's uniform so I assume you work for the NHS, but neither you nor any of your other householders have a blue badge. So you should know better!

So I'll continue to drive around and either park 20mins away (I can't walk anywhere near that far) or pay £££ for a parking permit in a car park half a mile away which is also too far away for me to walk to. Or park and have to pay for a fucking taxi to pick me up and drop me home (also in reverse to get my car). Or just not go out and miss medical appointments of which I have three a week.

AAARRRGGHHHHH!!!

Why would you inconvenience yourself when you have an allocated bay? This isn’t petty, just ask her not to park there as it’s a disabled space. If someone with a badge gets there first you’re out of luck, but she shouldn’t be using it.

DarkDarkNight · 15/07/2023 07:58

Just saw it’s actually registered to you, even more reason to tell her.

nutbrownhare15 · 15/07/2023 08:01

"Hi lodger, as you need to park the car less than me please can I use the space on the drive? Thanks." Noone could reasonably object to that.

PeapodBurgundy · 15/07/2023 08:01

The word is 'reiterate' NOT 'realliterate'. Thank you so much for not only saying it several times a week, but also for typing it into the chat box of country wide Zoom meeting using the Chromebook I was logged into, so now half of the population of T-Level tutors think that I'm thick as shit!!!

Going to the supermarket doesn't need to be a family outing.

For some people it might be , so mind your own business

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 15/07/2023 08:04

Something ‘for free’ - it’s NOT for free- it is free of charge - even the bloody BBC have started “for free”

Oh my god THIS!!!

nutbrownhare15 · 15/07/2023 08:05

OldTinHat can you leave a note on the car explaining this. And then leave a box with a sign when you leave the space empty. You shouldn't have to of course but the level of inconvenience for you is so massive. If that didn't work I'd suggest contacting local councillor. It's unacceptable.

Glad I am not the only militant pedestrian. Told one bloke he could damn well wait as I have to in the car and cyclists never move over for me. Hundreds of miles of narrow, hilly, twisting roads and you can be stuck for ten minutes behind some pillock in Lycra out for a leisure ride and I have an appointment to get to.

Similarly
the cyclist going down the busy A road or dual carriage way when there’s a perfectly good cycle path to the left.

Bollocks @MonumentalLentil. Drooped kerbs to access driveways aren't designed for disabled access. Parked over dropped kerbs on street corners is wrong. There is no law against parking in front of a drive.

By law you or your visitors are entitled to park on the carriageway in front of your dropped kerb (driveway) so long as no other parking controls are in place, you do not cause an obstruction, and the dropped kerb is not shared with another property.

I wonder is that a new thing? I had an absolute jobsworth of a traffic warden tell me to move my car from the front of my garage while I was clearing it out (house was an end of terrace and garage was at the side of it, technically on another road). I was agog that this was a ticketing offence, so maybe he was being a bit fat Billy Bullshit. I’m glad I ignored him now.

One for pedant's corner:
You don't suffer from mental health. You suffer from mental ill-health.

This is one of my pet hates. It is the same with blood pressure. " I' ve got blood pressure" !

I get irrationally annoyed by people using a shopping trolley as some sort of walker and lean their boobs and body all over it. They are also inching it down the centre of the aisle- so you cannot pass either side! 😡

Omg same, stand up ffs!! Do they have no back muscles

kshaw · 15/07/2023 08:17

Eudaimonia5 · 14/07/2023 18:14

I get irrationally annoyed by that one person on every course that always has something to say. Whenever the tutor asks a question, they're in there sharing their thoughts and always asking questions.

"Ok, we'll end things there for today, unless anyone has any questions or anything they'd like to share?"

"Well actually, I'd just like to share my reflection on today's topic and ask a question about the assignment that's due at the end of next year"

Course you do, Ian. We all knew you'd have something to say. Just fucking shut up for once in your life! Let someone else speak, you don't have to talk in every single bloody class. You're a pain in the arse!

Except he's not a pain in the arse, he's merely being an active and engaged learner. He's contributing to lectures and sharing his experiences. He's making the most of the course and trying to get as much out of it as possible to benefit his personal and professional development.

But by god, it pisses me off!

Haha this enrages me no end! Had to do a first aid course, there's always one that had an anecdote to absolutely everything. Just shut up and let's get out of here as early as possible.

barbarahunter · 15/07/2023 08:23

'purposely' and 'purposefully' are two different words, each with a different meaning.

Work one - no one is ever going to look at the emails you print off and file. No one.

That's so un- environmentally conscious and costly too. I'd ban it on my workplace!
Does this staff member not understand 'print to PDF'?!

When my friend's daughter (7) comes over to play with my daughter and opens kitchen cupboards (for example) and helps herself to things or explores the house. I am silently screaming at my friend to say something to her daughter but I feel too awkward. Am I the odd one to think in someone else's house this is rude behaviour!?

Say something! You don't have to be rude or aggressive. "Kids, no, don't go in there, please."

Oh wow, this!! I thought I was the only one!! I always want to scream at them at the harm they are doing to their posture.

jacckandsalllly · 15/07/2023 08:28

I hate shoes on in the house, especially carpets.

Stupid cunts walk through other peoples homes without taking them off or even asking if they are a shoes off house.

You shouldn't even ask, you should just do it unless the homeowner stops you and says there's no need (then I think they are scruffy and have dirty carpets).

I don't mind general mess/toys out etc but actual muck and grime and dirt is horrible in the home.

My next door neighbour does this big cartoon ATCHOOOO sneeze. Really gets on my nerves

You know they can't help that, right?

Badlands1 · 15/07/2023 08:37

People in their 50's who throw 'when I was at Cambridge' into any random conversation despite the fact that it was 30 years ago and they have done bugger all since

The way Aldi seem to insist on their staff constantly pushing massive pallets around the tiny aisles making it impossible for more than one trolley to navigate.

Putting stock out then? How should they do it please?

You've missed the point of this thread, which is to post things that we KNOW are ridiculously petty and borderline unreasonable!
