Ridiculously petty things that you can’t even say out loud

I’ll start.

This has been bugging me all day but I can’t say it out loud to anyone as it’s really not that bigger deal.

Parking is a huge issue where I live, not many people have ORP.

My elderly neighbour got rid of her car a few years ago, we are quite close and she has a driveway, so it was agreed that I could now park over her driveway meaning I am pretty much guaranteed a space right outside my house, rather than having to park halfway down the street.

My lodger has now begun using this space, she works from home a lot too so it’s there for days now sometimes. WAAAaa 🙈🙈.

I can say anything as I will sound like a selfish loon.

some guy over the road from me and a few doors down has taken to parking his car outside my house. All the time. Even though his own drive is empty. It’s a black Subaru with a whale tail and it’s ugly AF. I get disproportionately enraged about it. It’s not even opposite his own house so I have to look at the hideous thing and he Doesn’t. It’s making me angry just typing this out 😡

I’d just park on his drive. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It reads my bag every time so I think a poor workman blames his tools! Grin

I put my bag on and it says "unexpected item in the bagging area". Even if I press the "use own bags" button. In all the years I've been using self service tills it has worked for me once. I can assure you that I am perfectly capable.

It would actually take me a lot longer to wait for someone to come and help (as there is no "back" button) so it's easier to scan the stuff and then put in a bag, although still time-consuming.

The easiest option of all is to use the self-serve tills in Waitrose and M&S which don't have scales.

(also I am not a work(wo)man, I am a customer - something the retailers like to forget)

Whilst something like this https://www.gatwickairport.com/at-the-airport/flying-out/check-in/ may make perfect sense to somebody who has flown hundreds of times, it doesn't necessarily do so for somebody for whom it is all new. And there's also the environment itself - huge buildings, noise, people, screens - they can be very disorienting for people who haven't had the privilege of racking up hundreds of thousands of miles from childhood.

Yes, and if I knew I was going into a very unfamiliar, disorientating environment I would be doubly sure to do some research before hand.

Because it isn't that simple, for a number of reasons.

I didn’t have such a privilege and did most of my airport travel starting in my early 20s and managed by reading the instructions for my flights and also checking what I could and couldn’t have in the airport and in my luggage the night before, making sure I had everything I needed before leaving the house, going over the instructions again on my way to the airport and making sure I had everything in close proximity in my bag where I didn’t end up having to look for it before I walked in, going to the airport early and (when possible) at a time I knew rush hour wouldn’t be an issue so I would have plenty of time to read the signs and maps and find where I needed to be. Like many things it’s about doing your research and being prepared.

Maybe aim to be a little less able-ist.

It was a tongue in cheek remark for Christ's sake Hmm.

Freedom Pass? I’m not familiar. Only you know if its difficult to find a seat further back, as I said ‘when there are other seats available’. Standing, or going upstairs wasn’t suggested.

Freedom Pass is the name of the disabled bus pass scheme in London.

Actually it’s the pass for pensioners

Seymour5 · 05/08/2023 18:02

I get irrationally annoyed by that one person on every course that always has something to say. Whenever the tutor asks a question, they're in there sharing their thoughts and always asking questions.

"Ok, we'll end things there for today, unless anyone has any questions or anything they'd like to share?"

"Well actually, I'd just like to share my reflection on today's topic and ask a question about the assignment that's due at the end of next year"

Course you do, Ian. We all knew you'd have something to say. Just fucking shut up for once in your life! Let someone else speak, you don't have to talk in every single bloody class. You're a pain in the arse!

Except he's not a pain in the arse, he's merely being an active and engaged learner. He's contributing to lectures and sharing his experiences. He's making the most of the course and trying to get as much out of it as possible to benefit his personal and professional development.

But by god, it pisses me off!

Especially when you want to get home early.

AlexReventa · 16/08/2023 01:24

You could have told lodger when she moved in that there was no outside parking. Anyway the lady next door might move then you are both stuck. It’s a situation I’ve been in. I moved because it started becoming a nasty issue. Wasn’t some poor lady and her husband killed over an outside parking space?

It was superior and nasty.

Lupiemumof1 · 16/08/2023 07:43

That would drive me bat shit crazy! Our neighbours a few doors down have a drive for 2 cars and their kids have a further 2 more cars. Instead of blocking their own drive, they park outside ours. (We are are we already limited to one spot) I wish people would think before having a million cars at their properties). Oh & one of the kid drives right up to our car to line up when she is parking and then reverses all the way back (I'm talking 2/3 cars back) . How fckin odd???? It drives me mental. That & their cats taking dumps in our garden. Twats!!!!!

LemonDrizzleDessert · 17/08/2023 17:15

Would you kindly just shut it about your plans for my life, you loon
