Lake Bled in Slovenia and the surrounding lakes and mountains. Andorra was gorgeous too, or Zermatt in Switzerland.

Where in Kefalonia do you go ? We like the cobbled streets , harbour vibe . Another vote for Croatia.

Scala and Fiskardo were my favourite. Not overcrowded, seemed more 'couply' than lots of families. Relaxed vibe, lovely restaurants in the evening. Just perfect. If you hire a car it's a small Island and easy to get around with lots of breathtaking scenery and little authentic villages along the way. Heaven!

Croatia sounds like my kind of vibe. I'll have a look at Dubrovnik and Split.

I'm glad so many people have said Croatia, we'll be there in August.

My favourite place so far is Corsica.

Sittingonthefence83 · 07/07/2023 10:39

Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland 🇨🇭

KimberleyClark · 07/07/2023 10:40

Iguazu Falls. And Croatia/Montenegro.

CookieCutter8 · 07/07/2023 10:40

Anyone been to the South of France?

When I was a child, our family used to holiday on the French/Swiss border in a small hillside village. The mountains surrounding it were spectacular and the lakes and small villages were idyllic. I’d love to go back but can’t drive.

ClareBlue · 07/07/2023 10:41

For less crowds and great value the coast has got to be Albania and their national parks inland are absolutely stunning. If you want inland lakes and scenery then Slovenia and if you want history and culture try parts of the old Austro Hungarian empire like Northern Romania with Ottaman history as a bonus.

Unknownunknowns · 07/07/2023 10:46

I'm just back from Dubrovnik & it is beautiful, stunning scenery and love the walled city.

Closer to home, Mizen Head in Cork is spectacular, as is a lot around that whole south coast of Ireland area.

Ooh just had a look at Montenegro- looks beautiful, thanks!

We were in Montenegro a few months ago. The Bar to Belgrade train is absolutely stunning and costs 20 Euro for an 8 hour trip through mountains and traverses a lake.
Another for lake bled in Slovenia.
Go down the coast of Albania. As good as Croatia but half the price.
Wouldn't rec Capri even without crowds. Loads of better islands at half the cost imo.

RaraRachael · 07/07/2023 10:50

Abroad - Croatia
UK - The Cotswolds (would move there tomorrow if I could afford to!)

Iloveanicegarden · 07/07/2023 10:52

Outer Hebrides on a lovely sunny day. A bit like a tropical paradise but cooler.

Hoolahoophop · 07/07/2023 10:52

@CookieCutter8 those would be mine as well.

I also loved taman negara rainforest for natural beauty. I must love trees!
For city escape Saint Petersburg in the snow was stunning.

Chattydolls · 07/07/2023 10:53

For me it’s the Istrian Riviera in Croatia or the Amalfi Coast, Italy - Both just stunning.

ClareBlue · 07/07/2023 10:54

A really friendly country is North Macedonia. Skopje is one of the weirdest capital cities in Europe with the overload of modern sculpture.
Krakow is a great city break.
Cluj in Romania has 2 universities and has a great young vibe.
Kaunas in Lithuania is another good city break. Don't miss getting to the opera house if you are ever there.
The list is endless.....
Got me scrolling for our next holiday now😀

CallieQ · 07/07/2023 10:55

Just been to Rhodes town... lovely

FreddieMercurysCat · 07/07/2023 10:55

Another one for Kefalonia here. I've been to a fair few of the Greek Islands (amongst other places of course), and they've all been stunning, but Keffers has the edge every time.
