I mean - who looks that good in all their photos. She’s just so beautiful and incredibly photogenic! Not to mention extremely good at tennis, all other sports and everything else in between. William could not have chosen a better wire!

The Princess of Wales, 41, was cheering on the Prince, 41, as he took part in the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup 2023 at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor this afternoon.

Wire - well I have seen her in real life and she is painfully thin. But this does photograph well for sure.

I have seen her in real life too and she looks thin to the point of ill to me. She looks better in photos I think as she looks very slim but not to that ill point, she is always nicely dressed and comes across well I think.

If I had access to the most expensive private healthcare, hairdressers, stylist, beauticians, aesthetic doctor, food, gym and instructor, swimming pool, wonderful holidays abroad and didn’t really work I could look like that too… perhaps.

Am sick of seeing her and threads like these when I’m desperately trying to stay afloat financially.

Why click into them then? It's clear from the title what it's about, take some self responsibility if you find it triggering. People say this but it also takes discipline to work out the amount and intensity she must do to build the muscle she has, and when you have access to whatever food you like that also includes high calorie foods.

meddysam · 07/07/2023 08:35

I really don’t care about Kate or any of them, but I have to speak up. “Painfully thin”?!!! She’s very much a healthy weight. I suspect that’s fat normalisation operating here amongst MNers.

I'm 5ft 10 & used to model. I was just over 8 stone & definitely fell into the underweight category. I think she is very thin for a mother in her 40s. Most of us even the naturally thin ones tend to fill out as we age post dc.

dottiedodah · 07/07/2023 08:35

She looks like you would expect a royal wife to be.tall ,elegant ,graceful in equal measure! She seems a nice enough woman , but feels a little like she is playing a role .

HRTQueen · 07/07/2023 08:35

She always looks nice and neat

but that is all I can say about her. She is certainly safe for the royals. It is a wasted opportunity a women with such a high public profile and all that is required is she looks nice and seems nice

I think cultivating a particular public image and then having the rest of yourself for your private life and for loved ones and people you actually meet and know is healthy really. I don't think it's being dishonest or whatever, it's that her 'duties' are essentially work and a fair few of us probably conduct ourselves a bit differently when working and when comfortable at home. I would rather people who didn't know me commented on superficial stuff like my clothes than make judgement on me as a person to be honest.

Well yes, except if your public image is so all-encompassing and onerous that there's not much to be kept back for "private life and loved ones".

Obviously I have no idea what her relationship is like with her husband and children and the other members of the RF. But there's precious little space for kicking back and being yourself in that environment. It's very much a case of being "always on".

shropshirewitch · 07/07/2023 08:45

YABU you need to call her Catherine for full sycophancy.

It's very strange to me how all the online talk circa 2007 was about how awful she is, how she was "draping" herself around men to get attention, "flaunting" herself, "God help the monarchy if she gets in" etc. Some truly amazing PR work has gone on. They've had long enough to do it, mind.

Why is a royal wife supposed to look like that? Are they chosen for their looks? How awful is that

Sorry @dottiedodah i misread your post.

She's just a skinny posh white woman. But all our societal beauty standards value these things.

Most societies and individuals value things they think look nice. Some people think pumping chemicals into their lips until they resemble a baboon’s backside looks nice. Or having heavy, slug like eyebrows. Others like covering their skin in tattoos, or having myriad piercings, or way out hairstyles and colours. Those looks are fine in some walks of life.

However, if your job is being the wife of the heir to the throne, you’ll be expected to look a certain way, and conduct yourself with appropriate decorum. Even then you’ll be criticised, even hated.

BMW6 · 07/07/2023 08:53

She is not "painfully thin".

She is extremely fit and has excellent musculature so obviously not anorexic as some here are hinting at.

It's just so very many of us are overweight and have completely lost sight of what a healthy body should look like.

Rosietheravisher · 07/07/2023 08:54

The thing I really hate about op’s post is that it made me curious to look at the photos - which I don’t usually do. Worse- I found myself captivated by William’s physique and getting a bit turned on. What a gorgeous figure he has. Sorry to objectify him, but it’s true. I should be thoroughly ashamed of myself as I am a Republican.

MrsMarzetti · 07/07/2023 08:54

I think she looks fantastic. Really can't understand why there is so much hatred towards her. Seems it is ok to be nasty about Catherine who says nothing and does nothing wrong but if you say a word against Meghan the liar that trashes not only her own family but her husbands family to you are a bigoted racist. Double standards at play.

DontYouThreatenMeWithADeadFish · 07/07/2023 08:54

BishyBarnyBee · 07/07/2023 07:53

This kind of post bemuses me. She was hand picked to be attractive and conformist, and that's what she does well. I hope she's happy.

What is bizarre is the OPs amazement that she looks so good in all her photos. The Mail and other tabloids have decided she is Saint Kate, so all the photos are flattering and pursue that narrative.

They weren't always so kind to her, remember the "Waity Katy" years? But now they have someone else to have a go at and generate clickbait for those who like to give another woman a good kicking.

So Kate can be an angel and Megan can be evil incarnate. You will only see pictures of Kate that support the fragrant English Rose narrative. It's surprising that any thinking adult would fall for it to the extent of posting this kind of sycophantic twaddle.

Pretty much this. She is the perfect wife for a senior royal and by that she is playing her part in a support role, she knows her place, she is not outlandish, she does not hold controversial views, she dresses in a very English upper middle class way, she is safe, pretty but not stunning, she can hold her own with the simpering sycophantic crowds. I always got the impression any shred of personality was squeezed out of her by 'the firm'.

I agree with Hillary Mantel's analysis: It’s rather that I saw Kate becoming a jointed doll on which certain rags are hung. In those days she was a shop-window mannequin, with no personality of her own, entirely defined by what she wore. These days she is a mother-to-be, and draped in another set of threadbare attributions. Once she gets over being sick, the press will find that she is radiant. They will find that this young woman’s life until now was nothing, her only point and purpose being to give birth.

But Kate Middleton, as she was, appeared to have been designed by a committee and built by craftsmen, with a perfect plastic smile and the spindles of her limbs hand-turned and gloss-varnished.

Kate seems to have been selected for her role of princess because she was irreproachable: as painfully thin as anyone could wish, without quirks, without oddities, without the risk of the emergence of character. She appears precision-made, machine-made, so different from Diana whose human awkwardness and emotional incontinence showed in her every gesture. Diana was capable of transforming herself from galumphing schoolgirl to ice queen, from wraith to Amazon. Kate seems capable of going from perfect bride to perfect mother, with no messy deviation.

QueefQueen80s · 07/07/2023 08:55

Yes far too thin. You don't see William looking like that.

Being overweight doesn’t mean you can’t tell if someone is very thin. She conceals her thinness incredibly well - that dress is quite loose on her but it looks filled out; the puffy sleeves hide her arms and shoulders.

Yes I remember.
All the sneering, the 'waity katie' shit and the horror that a commoner was getting ideas above her station. It was awful.

She doesn't "conceal her thinness" FFS!

There are plenty of photos of her bare arms and legs in sportswear so her musculature is totally exposed!

Wearing puffy sleeves sometimes does not mean you're always hiding your body! 🙄

Migrainehaterforlife · 07/07/2023 09:02

Kate is phenomenal, most of you are so jealous and it really shows.

I didn’t say that she was hiding her body deliberately. How would I know that? But I can see with my own eyes that the dress is a very small size and she doesn’t fill it.

What does she do that makes her phenomenal? I'm genuinely wondering.

Is being "picture perfect" really all that women should aspire to nowadays?
