I need your help with sneaky DH

Took rings off last night left on side of the kitchen sink.
Came down from work and engagement ring has disappeared....mild panic.

Sneaky DH has hidden the ring. I've feigned disinterest but the stakes are high - we now have a game and I have all morning to find it.

All I've been told is it's somewhere in the kitchen. I've had most of the cupboards out and looked in all the glasses etc.

We have young DC so it's nowhere they would be able to find it.

All very petty and I was on the verge of texting for a clue....

I just can't get over his smug face coming and showing me where it was. It will be somewhere obvious I know it.

AIBU to ask for any suggestions? Please help - I need a win today

Nope still not found.

DM called and she also found it very odd.

Nothing in cutlery drawer. Ice cube was genius but freezer in other room. Plus he wouldn't be that invested. Nothing on any appliance!

I'm surprised I haven't found it. He's not very good at this game.

Washing machine dispenser drawer? (although that seems a bit risky now I’ve said it! 🤣🤣)

TheresBoozeInTheBlender · 06/07/2023 09:51

Blu tacked under the edge of the worktop

Stravaig · 06/07/2023 09:52

How ingenious/competitive is he? Tied to a bit of string dangling somewhere it would otherwise fall eg. drain, overflow, appliance drawers. Or taped to the back of something.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just a bit of lighthearted fun 🤣

I don’t know about lighthearted fun—seems more like tedious fiction.

Jongleterre · 06/07/2023 09:54

Is he walking funny? Perhaps he's clenching it between us arse cheeks?

Jongleterre · 06/07/2023 09:54

His ^

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 06/07/2023 09:54

Near the washing up liquid or fruit bowl.

Can't imagine being in a relationship with no jokes or fun.

Are people really married to people they can't have a laugh with?

To suggest divorce over a silly game between two people who enjoy it isn't normal behaviour.
Or to jump straight to that conclusion without asking if it's a game first.

Seems this is hot ground for advising women to leave their husbands for any tiny reason.
Everyone has flaws and when people ask for advice, they're mostly trying to fix things, or at least try first, not chuck the baby with the dishwasher.

Good luck OP.

Wtf is this meant to be some amusing game because it sounds like a completely fucked up relationship to me.

Yeah I would not find this funny. I'm getting annoyed even reading it.

Sleeepdeprived · 06/07/2023 09:54

On top of the kitchen cupboards?

GeekyDiva80 · 06/07/2023 09:55

Does he have a piercing, perhaps it's there? Especially if it's a Prince Albert!

Coralsunset · 06/07/2023 09:55

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/07/2023 09:05

I couldn't be arsed with his tedious games. I assume there are other controlling things he does, and passes off as 'humour'. Ask me how I know.

Quite!

Nellynoowhoareyou · 06/07/2023 09:55

Fruit bowl? Fridge, microwave, on a tap, under the soap, bread bin, cutlery drawer… hopefully not silly enough to put it in the nutribullet/pepper mill! Do you have any mats it could be hiding under, eg under drainer? Coasters?

PuddlesPityParty · 06/07/2023 09:55

Coralsunset · 06/07/2023 09:55

Quite!

Jesus Christ. You guys seriously need to go outside and touch some grass.

Stravaig · 06/07/2023 09:56

Wherever it is, you need to pretend you've not found it; however you did eat, drink, hoover, bin, recycle, macerate, post, give away, or otherwise destroy whatever it was in/near.

Surely this is too dangerous!

Guess it depends on the relationship/individual boundaries. DH and I tease and insult each other a lot and if I wrote some of the things he's said to me on MN I'd definitely to be told to LTB but it's within my boundaries. Him hiding my stuff would REALLY piss me off though.

SniggleSnarf · 06/07/2023 09:57

He wouldn't have much time as I was only upstairs working. Plus he's not very imaginative.

Blu tac and sellotape were great ideas. I am running out of steam now. Even my crazy fun self can't take too much on a Thursday.

If I do give up I'll just never mention it again and leave the ring

😂🤣

JustLurkingAway · 06/07/2023 09:59

Perhaps the people who find this ridiculous/boring/a waste of time, should just scroll by and carry on with their dayWink

gemstoneju · 06/07/2023 09:59

Top of the gas boiler.

Under the cat/dog bowl/litter tray

Buried in a jar of marmite

Behind the kitchen clock

I bet when you got the engagement ring you never dreamt you would end up doing this.

I am stumped. Are your DC playing this game and able to suggest anywhere?

rainbowstardrops · 06/07/2023 09:59

Thisismeyeah · 06/07/2023 09:18

1st you need to find it, second you need to put it somewhere else. When he returns claim you havent found it and when he goes to get it and its not there let him sweat as he will think he has lost it.

Genius!!!

Tradwife360 · 06/07/2023 09:59

Ignore the boring people😂 I think it sounds like fun! My DH moved our car to prank me it was stolen recently. I looked everywhere and had just got to calling the police when he told me. These annoying games keep marriage alive! Definitely check through the coffee granules and bags of flour- Good luck OP!
