I need your help with sneaky DH

Took rings off last night left on side of the kitchen sink.
Came down from work and engagement ring has disappeared....mild panic.

Sneaky DH has hidden the ring. I've feigned disinterest but the stakes are high - we now have a game and I have all morning to find it.

All I've been told is it's somewhere in the kitchen. I've had most of the cupboards out and looked in all the glasses etc.

We have young DC so it's nowhere they would be able to find it.

All very petty and I was on the verge of texting for a clue....

I just can't get over his smug face coming and showing me where it was. It will be somewhere obvious I know it.

AIBU to ask for any suggestions? Please help - I need a win today

I would check the oven, tops of cupboards etc, under the sink, if you have any plans I would check those too

TheresBoozeInTheBlender · 06/07/2023 09:33

In the bit of the tassimo where you put the pods

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 06/07/2023 09:33

In the salad tray in the fridge? That's where I hide things that I don't want found. Usually chocolate 😃

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 06/07/2023 09:33

Although I DO understand he wants you to find it!

Fight fire with fire. Hide his car keys (or other item that will drive him mad).

Ha ha. This.

He sounds bloody hard work. I wouldn't even bother looking

Gettingbysomehow · 06/07/2023 09:34

Don't bother to look for it and tell him you've got too much to do to even bother.

IcakethereforeIam · 06/07/2023 09:35

In the kettle?

Sarvanga38 · 06/07/2023 09:35

I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of looking.

Bellaboo01 · 06/07/2023 09:35

Up his arse?

mainbrochus · 06/07/2023 09:36

Men are lazy - it will be within reach of where you left it, I bet. Tucked into the corner of a high shelf? Or bottom or top shelf of the fridge.

and oh man everyone very grumpy today ! Mumsnet used to be a laugh.

PuddlesPityParty · 06/07/2023 09:36

Jesus Christ it’s obviously a game they play you miserable lot 😂

It sounds fun and cute, OP.

user1469908686 · 06/07/2023 09:37

Ha! I play this game with my chronically untidy daughter who takes rings off to cook, and then just leaves them behind! (Not expensive jewellery though)

Hung on hooks? We’ve loads! Invisible clear ones that hold the Christmas lights up, big hooks in beams, curtain hooks.
Bottom of empty vases.
on the toaster dial
on top of speaker
On top of the worktop upstand
on wine bottle top
always in clear sight is the rules here!

I live in the vain hope that it’ll make her tidy up after herself one day😉

CatsRebellion · 06/07/2023 09:37

Christ there are some miserable people on here this morning.

If you can't have a bit of silly fun with your husband, I fear your marriages must be very boring!

My suggestions: in the microwave, in the water filter, in the pot of pens on top of the fridge (just me? Ok), around the twisty bit of the bread packaging.

GeekyDiva80 · 06/07/2023 09:37

My DP and I are right pranksters! I hid his car around the block at 4am once and pretended it was stolen 🤣. Only came clean when he picked up the phone to call the police. We had a laugh afterwards.

Another time I used that luminous pink party hairspray on his pubic hair whilst he was asleep. He sleeps on his back mainly. The scream from the bathroom when he had his morning wee was priceless 🤣

Yes, we are childish but we have a laugh together which is very important for a relationship.

Princesspeachee · 06/07/2023 09:11

Am I the only one who thinks this is just a bit of lighthearted fun 🤣

Nope, I'm in agreement with you

cocksstrideintheevening · 06/07/2023 09:38

I wouldnt be looking for it.

Justchatting06 · 06/07/2023 09:38

Good grief these comments……it’s only a laugh……..absolutely the kind of thing me and my partner would do for a wind up

Doteycat · 06/07/2023 09:39

Christ on a bike, personally i think its great to see a couple having a laugh and a joke. Is there not enough unhappiness here? and all this sanctimonious oh im far too busy BS. Thats quite sad really. Learn to take time for fun, it makes life and relationships so much better.

cooker?
microwave?
in the sugar?
Hem of the curtains or attached to blind cord?
plantpot?
letter/envelope
your handbag?

Did he slip it into your pocket on way out?

RhubarbCrumbled · 06/07/2023 09:40

Is he a lot taller than you? If he is then look high! My DH is a bugger for putting stuff in high places where I can't reach for fun!!

extramaturecheddarcheese · 06/07/2023 09:40

Salad drawer in fridge is my guess. That's where I'd hide it.

Mangogogogo · 06/07/2023 09:41

I can’t believe people on here, do you never have a bit of fun?

me and my partner used to own a pub and a running game was hiding this little toy a kid left and finding it, and rehiding it! Imagine if I’d left him cos of that lmao

BadGranny · 06/07/2023 09:41

If he’s taller than you, check places above your eye level - on top of cupboards, above windows, on light fitting etc

Panteranoir · 06/07/2023 09:41

I wish I could come and help you look so you could win OP!

My DH wouldn't do not this to me because he knows I wouldn't cope well with it. There is however regular silliness in our household. Also scrabble is played with a level of tension that has to be seen to believed and victories are long remembered.

Playing together is such an important part of a long marriage. I think a lot of the early responses may negative because they assumed you husband had done this to upset you. Or maybe they are just not morning people!
