To be absolutely fed up with the rain?

I'm in Liverpool and we had a good few weeks of 28 degree dry weather but now it's been raining for a good while and I'm bloody fed up. I've had to move my plants as well because they're being heavily over watered. If we do get a bit of sun, it only lasts for an hour or maybe 2. I will say though, it's a lot better than being sweltering hot all summer! But I do feel quite odd having to wear a jumper and a coat in July.

How is the weather where you are?

YANBU. It’s absolutely shit. Our schools broke up last week and it’s bucketed down since. On holiday for 2 weeks at the end of this week and it looks to be a washout. So fed up.

SwordToFlamethrower · 03/07/2023 17:42

I had big plans to go out on my bike to run some errands, but it's windy AF and I fear an uprooted house will land on me.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 03/07/2023 17:49

No rain for weeks and weeks here, and I can’t even water the plants easily as there’s a hose pipe ban too and I’ve already long used the water butts up. It’s not even as if it’s been nice and sunny to make up for it, it’s been overcast and hot and muggy. Wonder if there’s a bit of the country where there is a happy medium?

DrCoconut · 03/07/2023 17:56

Chucking it down again and 17c. Rubbish for July. Hoping it improves for the school holidays.

LadyTemperance · 03/07/2023 18:00

It’s on,y been a few days! June was the hottest on record and I am sleeping much better now.

hey2o · 03/07/2023 18:01

This . I'm desperate for rain . Grass looks like straw .

Breezycheesetrees · 03/07/2023 18:07

We've needed rain so badly, it's scary how hot and dry June was (also north west). Now it's broken I'm appreciating the rain so much and enjoying seeing the rivers full up and things turn green again. My garden is very appreciative too.

tulippa · 03/07/2023 18:07

I'd be happy with rain three days a week and dry for the rest. I'm north west too and there's been rain at some point every day for days. Went for a run at lunchtime and got absolutely soaked. I resent having to use the tumble dryer in summer. But it's England so suppose I should be used to it.

fireflyloo · 03/07/2023 18:10

We've gone from beautiful clear blue skies to full of cloud and lashing in 5 minutes. The gardens happy though.

JaneyGee · 03/07/2023 18:16

Anything is better than last year’s heat. I’m in Essex, and it got so bad it had me sobbing at the kitchen table. It wasn’t just the heat. It was the heat combined with the crowding. They have built so many goddam houses round here (or overpriced rabbit hutches) that the traffic is now insane. That heat, combined with the traffic, and all the flippin houses on top of me, tipped me over the edge.

TheLostNights · 03/07/2023 18:19

The wind is irritating me but nothing else. Still pretty warm as well, 20C here today so standard July weather.

butterpuffed · 03/07/2023 18:20

South east here - one short downpour in the last couple of weeks but no rain apart from that . Not much sun either although it's been mostly warm. We've had plenty of never ending wind though , over 40 mph earlier 🙄

TeaKitten · 03/07/2023 18:22

We have just had the hottest june ever recorded and it was dry for weeks, YABU.

Astronaut1298 · 03/07/2023 18:28

To be honest i'm fed up of the heat lol. Glad it's cooled down a little where I am (South East) had abit of rain last week and it was lovely

SunnyEgg · 03/07/2023 18:29

Wow we’ve had so little rain for ages

I suppose it’s good the reservoirs are filling up somewhere

RampantIvy · 03/07/2023 18:35

Can people say where they are. It hasn't been hot here (South Yorkshire) since last Sunday.

We have had three days of strong winds. It is currently 14 degrees and I am wearing a jumper.

We live near a lot of reservoirs and went for a walk round a couple yesterday. They are absolutely full. We had the wettest March for over 40 years and a very wet May.

Jacobsladders · 03/07/2023 18:42

Don't mind the rain, I just hate this damn wind. First it destroyed my peonies as soon as they bloomed, now it's sending a chill through everything and it's relentless. Temperature would be okay if it wasn't for this horrible wind, days of it now. East Staffordshire.

Jacobsladders · 03/07/2023 18:45

April and May were wet. A spell of June hot and dry (too hot at times) but then absolute biblical rain, never seen rain like it. Wind is drying out any but if useful rain at the moment and it's too cold to stay outside unless you're being very active!

Such weird weather. Fully expecting them to announce single figures next week, then 40 degrees the week after.

Blossomtoes · 03/07/2023 18:47

Today’s the first day we’ve had any rain for weeks here. My garden sighed with relief.

CosmosQueen · 03/07/2023 18:51

What rain? Apart from a few spots we’ve had nothing here on a hill in south Gloucestershire. My borders are so dry the sparrows have made a number of dust baths! The lawns are yellow and cracked and digging a hole for a plant earlier it’s bone dry down to 18”, absolutely dust-like.
we need days of steady rain to make any difference.

SecretVictoria · 03/07/2023 18:55

I’m about 20 miles from OP. It was awful this morning but did clear up around lunchtime. We’ve had some sunny spells but its not been particularly warm.

I wish people would stop acting so surprised when it’s warm at this time of year. It’s summer! It’s supposed to be warm. We’ve just come back from New York, it was in the 80s most days, because it’s summer.

Our weather is generally crap year round. It was a big part of why I moved down south and a big reason I long to go back there as I’m sick of cold and rain for 10.5 months of the year!
