To be absolutely fed up with the rain?

I'm in Liverpool and we had a good few weeks of 28 degree dry weather but now it's been raining for a good while and I'm bloody fed up. I've had to move my plants as well because they're being heavily over watered. If we do get a bit of sun, it only lasts for an hour or maybe 2. I will say though, it's a lot better than being sweltering hot all summer! But I do feel quite odd having to wear a jumper and a coat in July.

How is the weather where you are?

In the southwest where it's normally wet. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times we've had a useful amount of rain, since the start of May. Send it to us.

shivermetimbers77 · 03/07/2023 19:10

London is far too dry so I would love some of that rain! Our local nature reserve pond has completely dried up and none of the frogs are hatching this year and the newts have all died :( We need a LOT more rain

Anything is better than last year’s heat. I’m in Essex, and it got so bad it had me sobbing at the kitchen table. It wasn’t just the heat. It was the heat combined with the crowding. They have built so many goddam houses round here (or overpriced rabbit hutches) that the traffic is now insane. That heat, combined with the traffic, and all the flippin houses on top of me, tipped me over the edge.

When the weather cools down you’ll have all the stupid twats in the “rabbit hutches “ to whinge about.
Every cloud.
😉😁😁😁

In Yorkshire. Rain is pissing me off as well, it’s on and off etc. So annoying

CreeperBoom · 03/07/2023 19:40

My heating clicked on for a bit this morning, with my thermostat at 15 degrees! I'm in the far north east, where it was cold all of June. Now I'm heading south for our holiday, and it's forecast to be raining the whole time.

But, to be fair, it's wouldn't feel like proper summer if I wasn't wearing waterproofs.

wildfirewonder · 03/07/2023 19:41

Climate change is shit and only going to get shitter. Our ground is way too dry, then we get heavy rain and it all runs off and causes flash floods.

wildfirewonder · 03/07/2023 19:43

Overall I am glad of any rain we are getting right now as agree with PP that we have had far too little rain and it is seriously concerning.

bladebladebla1 · 04/07/2023 07:13

I need this weather, hot weather messes with my business and it may close it down. So sorry this may have been my praying 😂You'll get over it, it won't last long

Giselletheunicorn · 04/07/2023 08:02

Met office are reporting hottest June on record. We need the rain if we are to avoid drought later in the summer.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 04/07/2023 08:07

Cloudy and windy and mild in London this week (fine by me). We had incessant rain all spring but almost none for a month now, and a hot June, so the ground is cracking already.

RampantIvy · 04/07/2023 08:10

There are so many different micro climates in the UK. We had a drought last summer. Ladybower had its drain plugs standing well clear of the water line, and drowned villages and buildings were also well abov the water line. By the end of March the reservoir was full to over flowing, and all of our reservoirs in South Yorkshire are full.

While the West side of the UK basked in lovely warm temperatures in early June, this side of the Pennines was cold, grey and miserable. We had one day of proper warm weather on the spring bank holiday Saturday, then it didn't warm up again until 10th June. We had a couple of weeks of lovely weather and now we are back to mid teens again temperature-wise.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 04/07/2023 08:10

Its 17 degrees and pissing down here. I hate it. It is Australian winter though so I can't complain too much, another 6 weeks or so and it should start warming up thank god.

OldTinHat · 04/07/2023 08:51

Apart from a 30sec shower last night, we've had no rain here in weeks. SE. Very windy though.

Babsexxx · 04/07/2023 09:58

I’m soo fed up of it love hot weather and I’m housebound with a 4yo and 2yo 37 weeks pregnant and can’t go anywhere because of gallstone attacks! So much for me relying on the garden pool outdoor fun and sun! Il be really screwed in a minute when they break up from nursery for the summer holidays! They currently go x3 afternoons a week which has helped but they are incredibly understandably bored on the other days dh constantly working too we run our own company so no work no income we have decent savings but we are soo busy!

JaceLancs · 04/07/2023 10:02

North west here too and I’m very bored with it now!
bring back our sunshine!

Crikeyalmighty · 04/07/2023 10:06

I'm on holiday in Gozo so it's 31 degrees, slightly breezy and sunny- lovely jubbly!!

DappledThings · 04/07/2023 10:06

SE and need loads more rain. Yesterday was forecast to be heavy all day and it ended up as one heavy shower for about 10 minutes. Today was meant to be stormy showers again and it's blue skies. Freaks me out a bit when rain is predicted and regularly and doesn't come. Drought is frightening.

Can people say where they are. It hasn't been hot here (South Yorkshire) since last Sunday.

We have had three days of strong winds. It is currently 14 degrees and I am wearing a jumper.

We live near a lot of reservoirs and went for a walk round a couple yesterday. They are absolutely full. We had the wettest March for over 40 years and a very wet May.

I live in Sheffield and have been watching the reservoirs.

Dam Flask has really dropped. It was full to bursting in the spring, but there is a significant drop. Not sure about Redmires. Ladybower had also dropped a bit.

TeddySunflowers · 04/07/2023 10:07

Yabu, I love the rain! Summer is my least favourite season because it gets so hot and dry and everything turns to straw.

ssd · 04/07/2023 10:13

Glasgow.
Wet.
As usual.

RampantIvy · 04/07/2023 10:23

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow I'm North of Sheffield. We have Royd Moor, Ingbirchworth and Scout Dike reservoirs on our doorstep. The first two were full on Sunday, but we didn't see Scout Dike, but I don't think it has dropped by much yet.

SallyWD · 04/07/2023 10:34

I'm in Leeds and I'm relieved it's cooled down a bit and I welcome the rain. I was tired of having to water the garden every day and the garden is revived now.
I don't understand why you had to move the plants? I think it's impossible to over-water plants outside. The plants in containers, we'll there's a drainage hole in the bottom so any excess water drains away. As for the plants in the ground - again excess water just goes in to the earth.

DappledThings · 04/07/2023 11:09

Just made it back to the car from the shop before the heavens burst. Now sitting in the car very much enjoying the heavy rain outside and how much we need it.

difficultspaghetti · 04/07/2023 15:22

Looks like the weather Gods heard my prayers! Nice and hot today.
