To wonder if Labour actually will be any better?

I think like most people I am keen to see the back of the current bunch, but I am not confident that anything will massively change for the better. Maybe that’s a bit pessimistic, but I feel that while some things will improve some will get worse - and some sort of at the same time, so I’m expecting my salary to go up but also my workload to go up!

Thinking back to when Labour were last in power it was another world, really. Interested in views.

I mean you could carry on with the pathetic and immature bi partisan one liners. Much like a 10
year old. Or have a grown up debate. Real shame that the adults leave the room so early
in these debates and then they go downhill from there.

You said it started in 1997. I think that slightly glosses over what the incumbents have done to compound things since 2010.
What's your preferred outcome of a GE?

You get the mood and level of debate you create.

Ultimately we all have to presume we’re adults of voting age so even the ‘pathetic and immature’ have a vote that’s worth just as much as the highly scholarly and serious.

In any case it mirrors the example set in parliament for the last few years so I don’t see the mileage in getting sniffy about the odd bit of sarcasm. It’s gets the point across succinctly.

I read the article on the Shadow Chancellor in Wikipedia today and tbh if I hadn't known it was Labour I would have struggled to say which party the resume belonged to.

The devolved Welsh government isn’t comparable to Westminster. This has become the latest iteration of not knowing what a woman is. It’s lazy and dishonest.

But Jeremy Corbyn.

Fascinating prediction isn't it, and the change from May is quite marked as well.

Because the Tories have been so successful in government that it is predicted they will lose 265 seats if there were a general election now.

The middle and bottom is squeezed because the sole purpose of the government for the past 13 years has been to enrich their mates many of whom are already richer than anyone needs to be.

Have you stopped to ask why the current Prime Minister pays a lower proportion of his income in tax than a nurse does?

This is why Keir has backtracked on saying he will lower the higher, higher tax threshold to 80k. He’s not stupid. To be fair, he has turned on it. He knows that taxing people into oblivion (some paying effective over 100% tax) is utterly stupid. The Tories have been told by many organisations in recent months - they are fuelling stagnation; work doesn’t always pay. Yet the asset rich sat on millions pay less tax than someone earning 100k. Mental.

Kier sad he wanted to pull the lever on growth. Done properly, it will work. It was kind of what Truss tried to do but messed up. If the people paying the most tax (clue, it’s not the rich) decide to stop - the country is screwed.

Its a right mess the Tories have got the country into that you are feeling that way.

Labour will certainly try and improve things for everyone, which is more than the Tories have done for the last 13 years, where their sole aim has to be to enrich their rich mates.

There is so much that needs improving it is rather boggles belief that Labour won't be successful in at least some areas.

It’s already started. There are cliff edges where people are paying 70% ish tax at CHB threshold and over 100% at 100k. Tories have been told many, many times it’s not sustainable to keep expecting PAYE to subsidise nearly 50% of the population. All whilst millionaires pay a lot less. Part of the reason we are in such as state now, it’s not sustainable. The actual rich (millionaires) have got very rich. The people who work for a living and have done well and earn good PAYE salaries have been taxed to oblivion. They’ve changed their behaviour accordingly.
