To take my daughter to a rock concert?

Needs to be a quick one as buying tickets tomorrow. Massive Foo fighters fan…daughter desperately wants to come too…. She would be 12. Venue is London Stadium. Several reservations as worried about crowds, drunk people getting out and back to train. Also we’d have to be seated as no under 14s in standing. From a selfish point of view it was always planned as an ‘adult’ night out…. Few drinks… as close to the front as possible… obviously evening will be a different vibe and I will be very sober on mum duty and high alert. Is it safe enough to take her? Is the atmosphere as good in seated? She’s as big a fan as me….General consensus???

Completely safe and a great thing to do. I was ten on my earliest gig and loved it, am so glad my parents took me to concerts when I was younger. Do it and enjoy!!!

BiscuitsandPuffin · 27/06/2023 18:16

Don't see the issue. I've been to a lot of rock and metal concerts. Never felt unsafe.

Anyotherdude · 27/06/2023 18:17

Go for it! Crowds and bouncers are very good with youngsters.
I took my DD to a concert at 3, with earplugs and lots of water in plastic bottles. She sang her heart out and knew all the words, and we had a spontaneous escort from the people we were sitting with, who prevented us from being crushed by the crowd on the way out.
Ps. The earplugs are really important!

Do it, absolutely fantastic thing to do with another fan, she'll be over the moon.

Just started taking dd13 to age appropriate gigs - foo fighters would be an absolute yes.

Happysinglemum72 · 27/06/2023 18:18

We’ve been to a festival and I took her to see Anne-Marie….. more concerned with the London side of it and getting out and home with the crowds. We’d have a good 2 hour journey home….. apparently it’s on her bucket list!

My nephew went at 5, loved it! Mine have been going to festivals since babies

CornishTiger · 27/06/2023 18:19

Do it. There is usually a good vibe and concert goers are quite protective of kids.

You will only be allowed seated though I think. It’s on the FAQs.

AmITooOldToDoThis · 27/06/2023 18:20

Will be buying tickets for my 12 year old.

Took her to the Taylor Hawkins memorial gig at Wembley last summer. Taking her to Muse in Milan next month. 🤷🏻‍♀️

she does wear loop earplugs though as I’ve destroyed my hearing going to loud gigs over the years.

VimFuego101 · 27/06/2023 18:21

Do it. You need to make sure her first gig is a good one that she's not embarrassed to tell people years from now 😀

CMOTDibbler · 27/06/2023 18:21

I'd absolutely take her. My ds first went to Download aged 11 and had an amazing time, and rock fans were so lovely to him

WetBandits · 27/06/2023 18:22

Go for it! I’ve never felt anything but safe at rock/metal concerts, surrounded by the sort of people who will have you hoisted up from the floor within milliseconds of hitting it and fuss over you to make sure you’re alright. The best environment!

HeckinBamboozled · 27/06/2023 18:23

Foo Fighters concerts are pretty tame especially if you're seated.

You're unlikely to get piss thrown on/beer poured over you like I've experienced at other rock gigs.

19lottie82 · 27/06/2023 18:23

Absolutely! I took my 11 year old nephew to see Iron Maiden last night and we had a blast!

Panda89 · 27/06/2023 18:23

Yes it will be absolutely fine, I saw Muse when I was 11 and it was AMAZING and I have great memories of it. My mum just stuck to the back away from the crowds.

This! DH and I attend loads of metal gigs in Bristol/Cardiff and mosh pit etiquette is great. If someone so much as loses a shoe, everyone stops and holds it up in the air until shoe and owner are reunited!

Confrontayshunme · 27/06/2023 18:25

We have taken our DD11 to see Frank Turner (punk/indie rock) several times. Generally, the non drunk ppl are lovely and like seeing a small person who loves the artist.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 27/06/2023 18:27

I've seen them twice and they have both been festivals. Loads of kids about and really nice atmosphere so I'd say your DD will be absolutely fine.

cocksstrideintheevening · 27/06/2023 18:28

It will be amazing, if you get the tickets. Have you got the pre sale?

Have seen so many clips of massive bands halting their whole show to make sure people having a rough time in the pit are seen to, it’s just lovely!

I had 2 pints of lager thrown down my back at a Foos fog at the O2 - was seated then as well!

Happysinglemum72 · 27/06/2023 18:40

Loving all the positive posts! A friend of mine was involved in a fight at a foos gig… think that’s what’s stuck in my head. I got literally pissed on the backs of my legs at a blur gig many years ago which ended in my bf at the time in a fight…. But sounds like the positive out ways the negative. She’s already mad at me as I’m going to see Royal blood without her…. Foos might be the nail in my coffin! 🤣

Yes I have presale…. About three different links!

Oh take her.
My lovely Dad took me to see some greats from 9 years old. I took oldest 2 from similar age.

ValerieGoldberg · 27/06/2023 18:51

Definitely take her OP. I remember my mum taking me to gig when I was about 10 to see Oasis. I still remember it now and it was awesome. Your DD will love it. Just plan how to get back home, maybe leave very slightly before the end of the gig if you’re worried. Have a plan of where to meet in the unlikely event you get separated. Also the foo fighters are brilliant live, she will love it!

Happysinglemum72 · 27/06/2023 19:02

Omg that’s great! Love Dave Grohl!
