To take my daughter to a rock concert?

Needs to be a quick one as buying tickets tomorrow. Massive Foo fighters fan…daughter desperately wants to come too…. She would be 12. Venue is London Stadium. Several reservations as worried about crowds, drunk people getting out and back to train. Also we’d have to be seated as no under 14s in standing. From a selfish point of view it was always planned as an ‘adult’ night out…. Few drinks… as close to the front as possible… obviously evening will be a different vibe and I will be very sober on mum duty and high alert. Is it safe enough to take her? Is the atmosphere as good in seated? She’s as big a fan as me….General consensus???

Mine were going to full festivals by then. Get some seated tickets if you can though, in fact, get me some tickets as well.

Do it! When I saw the Foo Fighters they were ace.

RavenT · 27/06/2023 22:43

Took DS, then aged 9, to see the killers last summer.
It was a fantastic experience.

Now tempted to try for the Foos too.

wingingit1987 · 27/06/2023 23:18

I took my son to see Ed Sheeran last year when he was 8. It was a school night and he was absolutely shattered the next day but he had a ball. He is going to see Blink 182 with his dad in September and will be going to see Foo Fighters with us if we can get tickets.

TidyDancer · 27/06/2023 23:36

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate. I've seen Foos a couple of times now and never felt unsafe or saw children looking unsafe. They're amazing life. The Olympic stadium is a good venue, takes some time to get out of there obviously but that's true of many venues.

Will be buying tickets for my 12 year old.

Took her to the Taylor Hawkins memorial gig at Wembley last summer. Taking her to Muse in Milan next month. 🤷🏻‍♀️

she does wear loop earplugs though as I’ve destroyed my hearing going to loud gigs over the years.

Plus one for ear plugs. I too have destroyed my hearing from too many gigs.

I took DD to Take That a few years ago when she was 9. There were a lot of very very tipsy women of a certain age who were very very keen to see the Take That boys. Now that was really was very lairy 🤣🤣

I'm sure they were at Pet Shop Boys when I saw them!
Honestly middle aged, drunk women are the worst, and I am one, I don't drink though as my dodgy bladder would mean I'd miss half the show!

Pharos · 27/06/2023 23:58

Youngest’s first festival was age 1, his first Foos age 8. It’s an amazing vibe - everything crossed for tickets tomorrow!
Although the London Stadium is a pain transport-wise, it feels more intimate than Wembley or the MK Bowl.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 28/06/2023 00:03

We're hoping to get tickets and will take DD8 with us.

I grew up going to huge rock gigs and loved it.

Notoironing · 28/06/2023 00:30

Some lovely positive comments here - just thought it might be worth adding I have been to many gigs and festivals but the foo fighters was pretty rough compared to them all! Wembley and I was standing quite near the front - absolutely wouldn’t be suitable for a child. But seated would be a lot safer. Was literally knocked and crashed into, crowd surfing so people’s boots at eye level and there certainly were some fluids of some sort flying around! And people totally off their faces everywhere!
great gig though and Taylor was especially eye catching!!!

Absolutely, it’ll be the experience of a lifetime

In other news, met someone who toured with Dave Grohl, and apparently he IS as nice as he seems 😍

Dave Grohl really is one of the genuine good guys. 🙂

I'm in the queue for tickets! Hope it doesn't take too long.....
Anyone else?

Natsku · 28/06/2023 09:20

Def take her, you'll be seated so should be fine and it'll be a great bonding experience!

Planning on taking my 5 year old to his first metal gig this weekend, though its Hevisaurus so its for children (most likely standing only, looking forward to seeing tiny headbangers)

YukoandHiro · 28/06/2023 09:21

12 is fine. I went to my first stadium gig with friends and without parents at 13.

My mum literally yelled "don't do drugs" over the barrier as we went in 😂😂

This kid would say a definite yes to taking your daughter!

(He's the very embodiment of 'losing yourself in music' 😎)

Absolute little legend

Peony654 · 28/06/2023 09:25

If you know she'll love it, and she understands the possible challenges, definitely. but equally you are allowed to not take her if you want the adult/drinking/standing experience instead.

IForgotOurSong · 28/06/2023 09:29

Definitely take her, you’ll have a great time x

Managed 4 for Cardiff. Not exactly where I wanted but happy for now.

mewkins · 28/06/2023 10:33

I have tickets for London (the 2nd date!) Can't wait!

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 28/06/2023 11:26

Got standing brum tickets. Or rather DH did, I was in the queue for ages watching it auto refresh. I asked DH to try on another site and he got them in ten minutes!

I got 3 for Cardiff. My little girl is ecstatic!
Not where I'd planned on sitting, but after 20 minutes queuing, I'm happy getting anything!

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 28/06/2023 12:20

I got 3 seats for Cardiff…. DD will be excited!
DS will stay at home as he’ll only be 4.

Yay!!!

Same. If better seats come up I can easily offload what I got.

Lovemylittlebear · 28/06/2023 12:30

Probably a silly question but how do you get tickets? I can’t see how to buy them on the websites as it’s asking for a code I don’t have 😂 x

AmITooOldToDoThis · 28/06/2023 12:41

Presale tickets today. General sale on Friday at 9am.

Youcancallitpettybutsee · 28/06/2023 12:48

I've been to concerts and festivals with various kids. Did bst Hyde Park with 3 under 2yrs. Most are easy to navigate and people are generall in good spirits. I must say I've only done Wembley stadium once and will never entertain it again. It's a horrible venue, which is sad as it's the closest and easiest for me to get to
