To take my daughter to a rock concert?

Needs to be a quick one as buying tickets tomorrow. Massive Foo fighters fan…daughter desperately wants to come too…. She would be 12. Venue is London Stadium. Several reservations as worried about crowds, drunk people getting out and back to train. Also we’d have to be seated as no under 14s in standing. From a selfish point of view it was always planned as an ‘adult’ night out…. Few drinks… as close to the front as possible… obviously evening will be a different vibe and I will be very sober on mum duty and high alert. Is it safe enough to take her? Is the atmosphere as good in seated? She’s as big a fan as me….General consensus???

How strange - currently having this exact conversation with my 11 year old dd!!
Good luck getting tickets 🤞🏻

I have a friend who is a steward at the stadium. I can ask if they check ages for you if you like.

Sorry, this is my first time commenting and I’m crap at it 😂

I’d LOVE if you could check please? She pulled out her ear defenders tonight to check if they still fit her! Haha Didn’t have the heart to tell her there’s still 12 months to wait!

janefondofu · 27/06/2023 20:46

I was 12 when I first saw Foo Fighters at London Stadium in 2018, and it was the best night of my life. We parked at Westfields, it takes a bit of time getting out after the gig, but it's worth it, I'd reccomend it. I think Foo Fighters fans are one of the best, it's not rowdy in the stands or after tbh, you and your daughter would have a brilliant time❤️

AmITooOldToDoThis · 27/06/2023 20:47

I’ve messaged him.

I trained as a steward during lockdown without thinking about the fact that DD would want to go to everything as well!

GlassWall · 27/06/2023 20:49

I just took my 11 year old to Florence and the Machine, and he adored it. His friend was just at Blur in Dublin, and had a ball.

traintraveller · 27/06/2023 20:57

It would be perfectly safe to take her but it doesn't sound like the experience you want so I'd leave her at home.

LemonLymanDotCom · 27/06/2023 21:16

Absolutely, it’ll be the experience of a lifetime

In other news, met someone who toured with Dave Grohl, and apparently he IS as nice as he seems 😍

Happysinglemum72 · 27/06/2023 21:36

Thanks for all the responses. - looks like I’ll be taking her if I get the tickets tomorrow.
traintraveller…. Yes it’s not going to be the experience I imagined when I first booked back in 2020 which I will get my head around…. But it will be a great memory to make with her….

Do it !

Ilovetea42 · 27/06/2023 21:50

To be honest the older the band the more chill the crowd I find. We've been to see the foos and it was a really good atmosphere, same with RCHP and Eminem but the crowd are probably mainly 30s and up so a bit more considerate than you'd find with a performer who would attract a much younger crowd. So I'd say go for it.

Popsicle42 · 27/06/2023 21:56

Definitely take her!!
I’ll be trying to get tickets for my 14 yr old daughter and I to go when they go on general release (sadly can’t find any way to get presale codes). My daughter has come with me to loads of gigs, from Muse to Ed Sheeran and she’s great fun to go with. She’s old enough for standing tickets now, which adds to the fun.

Cece92 · 27/06/2023 21:57

Definitely take her 😊 I took my DD10 to see little mix years ago and she hated it we left it was too noisy for her. Then we went to see Billie Eilish and she was okayish we left early. However we did go see strictly come dancing live and the live action beauty and the beast and she loved them. We do not have the same taste in music at all so I know she won't want to come with me to any concerts. I'm seeing blink182 this year and I offered to take her but she said no 😂

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 27/06/2023 21:57

You’re over thinking it. It will be amazing. There will be smaller ones than yours there.

good luck getting tickets

BowiesJumper · 27/06/2023 21:59

Went to see the Foos last time they played there. It’s not the best venue but not the worst. It takes ages to get out as everyone comes out the same way whether driving, or train/tube. You have to queue to
get that way. factor that in to the journey time.

baggienat · 27/06/2023 22:00

I took my 12 year old to Muse on Sunday at Milton Keynes, he absolutely loved it, the amazement on his face was worth every penny 😀

Lemonyyy · 27/06/2023 22:05

My DD will be 10 and desperately wants to go! I’ve seen them twice and there were kids there both times, no issues.

Vettrianofan · 27/06/2023 22:14

DH had our 16yo and 12yo at Iron Maiden gig last night. They loved it 😂

Eldest went to see Iron Maiden live when he was 10yo, so is used to these gigs. They have seen a mixture of other metal bands. Nightwish are amazing live.

Vettrianofan · 27/06/2023 22:17

In short, go for it, your DD will enjoy herself.

I took DD to Take That a few years ago when she was 9. There were a lot of very very tipsy women of a certain age who were very very keen to see the Take That boys. Now that was really was very lairy 🤣🤣

You're a legend! Thanks so much.
I've had people ask how she could possibly be a fan so young, but one of her first words after 'Dada' was 'Faye' which is a mash of Foo and Dave 😂
She still now asks me to put Faye on in the background whilst she's playing and on long car trips to soothe her. It's amazing.

Thanks again, I'll try my best to get tickets for her x

WaverleyOwl · 27/06/2023 22:28

Went to my first metal concert at 12 with my brother (14) as my chaperone - Iron Maiden in 1988. Loved it and remember it now.

She'll be fine. Do it!

Mine was bopping to Beyoncé from before 8 months. Finally got to take her to see her last month.

Then the Foos when they headlined Glastonbury. We saw them last August.

User93993993 · 27/06/2023 22:34

I took my girls to see Foo Fighters in Sydney when they were about 7 and 9, and they loved it! I got them ear plugs to wear if it was too loud (they were specifically for kids), and we left a few minutes before the end so we could get out of the car park, but it was definitely worth it!

foxlover47 · 27/06/2023 22:36

Taken my 11 year old to see machine gun Kelly at the royal Albert hall and Birmingham in the last 6 months , seated aswell as she's a bit young for standing but definitely do it :)
