To take my daughter to a rock concert?

Needs to be a quick one as buying tickets tomorrow. Massive Foo fighters fan…daughter desperately wants to come too…. She would be 12. Venue is London Stadium. Several reservations as worried about crowds, drunk people getting out and back to train. Also we’d have to be seated as no under 14s in standing. From a selfish point of view it was always planned as an ‘adult’ night out…. Few drinks… as close to the front as possible… obviously evening will be a different vibe and I will be very sober on mum duty and high alert. Is it safe enough to take her? Is the atmosphere as good in seated? She’s as big a fan as me….General consensus???

Def take her, you'll be seated so should be fine and it'll be a great bonding experience!

Planning on taking my 5 year old to his first metal gig this weekend, though its Hevisaurus so its for children (most likely standing only, looking forward to seeing tiny headbangers)

Wow, our DC love Hevisauraus! Enjoy ☺️

Would love to see them live 😀

Vettrianofan · 28/06/2023 13:01

*Hevisauraus🤦🏻

Happysinglemum72 · 28/06/2023 13:05

Got the tickets….The queue anxiety was immense. Not quite the seats I wanted but went in view my seat and it’s a pretty good view…. Got a few rows down from this one

My DD saw them live when she was 4, she loved it except that she held out her hand for a high 5 and didn't get one when everyone else near her did (in her memory at least) and DS has become a fan lately too.

Happysinglemum72 · 28/06/2023 13:08

Won’t let me add the the picture but it’s a pretty good view

@Natsku Your DS will love being there just like your DD did, they are a band that really appeal to children and also the parents too. Also you know that it's a safe place to take them unlike other bands.

Ideally would love to get over to Finland for a metal festival. No one does it better than the Finnish!😂

Addymontgomeryfan · 28/06/2023 13:18

She will love you for it, and although a different to normal gig experience for you, you will enjoy it too.

Selfishly I'm happy that my DC saw them at Glastonbury with us so we can go alone.

FuckTheLemonsandBail · 28/06/2023 13:21

I put YABU, as in YABU to be worried about this, not YABU to take her. Wasn't very clear so votes might be off.

Yeah I'll be singing along for sure!
This is definitely the place for metal, maybe one day you'll get to a metal festival here.

Maddy70 · 28/06/2023 13:34

My kids started going to concerts and festivals when they were 8 they will love it. Just check the venue doesn't have an over 18s policy

StonwEd · 28/06/2023 20:36

Got tickets for the first Manchester date 🤘

VioletCharlotte · 28/06/2023 20:53

@Happysinglemum72 well done on getting tickets! Your DD is going to love it! I took my DS aged 12 to see them at Reading Festival, he still talks about it! He's 24 now and I've got tickets today for us both to see them in London next year 😃

Deathraystare · 29/06/2023 10:41

@Happysinglemum72

Have fun you two!

Webbedlife · 29/06/2023 10:55

Have fun. It will be a fantastic experience for her.

Happysinglemum72 · 29/06/2023 11:18

Thank you…. We definitely will.
Taking her to Latitude next month and we saw AnneMarie at thetford forest earlier this month…. She’s fast becoming my gig partner 🤣 still not told her about royal blood tickets for October…. But she’s definitely too young for that… I’m actually a little worried for myself having seen the mosh pits at their shows!

Has anyone bought tickets for the Foos at London stadium for under 14s through Ticketmaster? It seems that all other ticket vendors including the London stadium itself are allowing under 14s if seated but TM info is over 14 only, and they are adamant on twitter too. Devastated 11 year old son 😩

Bought tickets for London through Gigs and Tours - it definitely says no under 14s in standing area, but seating was fine for children of 5 and up. Under 16s to be accompanied by 18+.
I'm taking my (will be) 12 year old in seating.
Can't see how TM can have different rules for the same concert 🤷🏻‍♀️

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 29/06/2023 12:14

T&Cs with my ticket confirmation.

firebird1605 · 29/06/2023 12:33

Thanks, literally everyone else states under 14 seated, London stadium even tweeted me back to say the same. It’s a shame the gigs and tours website crashed on me, so ended up having to buy through ticketmaster. They won’t acknowledge the discrepancy, just parrot over 14s only, honestly they are a nightmare to get hold of. I just want to cry

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 29/06/2023 12:48

@firebird1605
As TM are only the sellers of the ticket, not the promoters or venue I would get the ticket - they're hardly likely to stop your child going in when everyone else's are ok!

Noneedtobemean · 29/06/2023 13:55

I recommend booking Premier Inn London Stratford and staying the night. Do the booking now as a flex booking/pay later, before the hotel is fully booked. You can cancel if you miss out on tickets.

It is close to the venue and also next to Westfield Stratford so there will be lots of places to eat.

London Stadium is in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. There is lots to do there and worth a visit either before or after the concert. The Olympic Swimming Pool is also in the park, if you fancy a swim. They sometimes put up an inflatable assault course in the pool. It should be on there website.

I take my DD to concerts quite frequently. She had been going since she was 6. It has always been fine. You just have to be prepared and it is usually best to stay in a hotel if the travel is not straightforward.

I hope that you both enjoy the concert.

i can’t see how that one’s enforceable when some say over 5’s.

all else fails say he’s 14. There’s very little ID a 14 year old has. May have had to do this a few times

Over 5s. It says 5 and under not allowed.

Cardiff is allowing 12 and over in standing so it must be an issue with the venue.

VWRabbit · 29/06/2023 14:37

I took my 15 year old to a Queens of The Stone Age concert last week (standing crowd of what, 10,000 people I think) and it was much wilder than the previous times I've seen them! I was glad I didn't take my 12 year old who wouldn't have coped. But the fifteen year old had the absolute time of her life, even when we got accidentally involved in the edges of some mosh pits 😂 (we moved lol). I wouldn't take a kid who wasn't able to cope, but she is aware of (drunken, drugtaking) adults behaviour/is a switched on kid, and she had a great time. I don't drink or anything at all, so I could be vigilant for her. I was definitely having to block her from the crowd though. Despite the circle pits and us being drenching in other people's beer and weed smoke, we danced and sung and had the night of our lives! Better than cranking them out to do it alone with friends for the first time, ime that's when mistakes happen.

Well we've already got the ticket, so maybe it's worth a try, I might use it to make him eat his veg for the next year so he grows! 😆 It's that or sell the 3 amazing seats and try to book with another ticket agent. I can't believe how ridiculous it all is
