For years I have not eaten breakfast, I never have appetite in a morning so just drink coffee and wait until lunch to eat.

Recently however I’ve discovered honey Greek yogurt and I’ve become a bit obsessed with it! So I’ve been eating 100g of Greek honey yogurt mixed with 5g of chopped mixed nuts every morning for breakfast. I love it!

My mum has now decided I clearly have an eating disorder as that isn’t a suitable breakfast apparently - I think it’s quite healthy?! No crappy sugars that you would get with cereal, protein, fibre in the nuts? Honey is good for you too surely?

AIBU to think a) it’s healthy and b) it’s better than nothing?!

Do you live with your mum? If not, stop telling her what you eat for breakfast, problem solved.

I realise you said you didn't like any fruit but what about a fresh fig halved and drizzled with honey? That would go very nicely with the yoghurt.

I'd do 150g greek yoghurt to a handful or 30g nuts and add my own honey. 1kg yoghurt would last a week.

It’s fine

Yogurt and nuts are nutritious

Honey, which is just sugar, is not - but in the mix of a generally healthy diet there’s nothing wrong with it

My breakfast is plain Greek yogurt with raspberries and blueberries. Sometimes I'll add a bit of granola.

Came for the 'wayyy to much sugar too many carbs not enough fibre may as well have a bag of jelly babies' type comments . Wasn't disappointed

Sounds fine, but I would buy proper Greek full fat yogurt and add my own local honey, some of the commercial honey they use is blended and horrible. Support local bees! 🐝

It's because you weigh your food and know how much 2 slices of bread weighs. That indicates an issue, the breakfast is by the by.

400g is half a loaf.

Are you having plain unadulterated yoghurt to which you add some good quality honey, in a manner reminiscent of Greece; or are you having a product branded 'Greek Honey Yoghurt' but which likely has lots of other undesirable ingredients of unknown quality? It's an important difference.

My Greek colleague says that Fage 5% fat is the only brand that's near to yoghurt actually made and eaten in Greece.

I used to think honey was good for me but now all the dieticians who know about gut health say that it is just like eating sugar.

Fage 5% is good, but the supermarket own brand full fats are also good I find, the important thing is to steer well clear of anything labelled greek style because that is foul. Proper Greek yogurt is what you need. And if it gets that slight watery texture on top just stir it back in, it’s what happens.

Could your mum be raising "eating disorder" as you weigh the yoghurt and add 5g of nuts. If you really want to ensure you get 4 servings of yoghurt, you could just take a quarter of the product estimated by eye and a handful of nuts - 5g, 8g or whatever amount is really here nor there. Its the precision with food quantity I wondering is her issue not what the food actually is. If so, I can see where her concern comes from

I certainly DO NOT have an eating disorder nor am I even a healthy weight!

Why do people make such judgements based on a snap shot of someone else's day?

I do much better eating the bulk of my calories from 10am until 5pm.

I eat around 1500 calories a day. Just not many of them are breakfast 🤣

i could add cucumber with the tuna I suppose. I do prefer a peanut butter sandwich over everything else however

the nuts are just chopped mixed nuts

So did I until recently.

If your not particularly a fan of fruit do you like fruit tasting things?

If you blend banana and frozen raspberries with the yogurt and honey and nuts you could make an amazing smoothie!!!

Quite worried these dietitiana are not aware of difference between fructose, glucose and the fact that hkney has been ahown to be actually good for gut health. I lokked into gut health and honey is assumed good.
Or all the others are wrong.
Can you link these dietitians who know about gut health @IMustDoMoreExercise and say honey is bad?

So I’ve just been on the Asda app and looked at the ingredients in Fage 5% yogurt … there are none 😂 it’s literally just milk and a few bacteria friends!

As opposed to the honey one I’m eating with a massive list on ingredients as well as 13g sugar. The Fage one has 3g.

So I’ll buy that one, bit on the pricey side but I used to pay £3 for Yakult which I don’t buy anymore!

No, I said to reduce it gradually then you don't notice it.

What is the point in having sugar on something when you don't need it? If nothing else it saves money as honey is expensive.
