We are together 34 years.

DH>. Bloody hell, their asparagus is £20 a kilo. (Context we had been to the farm shop and paid £9 a kilo the day before 😀)

That was at the beginning of May.

Before that it was the beginning of April and we were discussing the Heineken Cup.

Last message was yesterday when he was collecting our DD just to ask if I wanted anything from sainsburys as he’d had a rough week and was getting himself cookies 😂

18 years, I asked DH if he was meeting me at the pub. He ignored me then turned up late. Standard.

This morning, DH to me at 6.30am: Are you up?

I was not up. I did not reply.

And then felt awful because when I woke up and came downstairs he told me that my car had broken down on the dual carriageway and he'd had to leave it there and walk back with the dog. Not a great morning!

DH: Ok, settling DD3 again. She’s nearly down. Wine in fridge.x

That was last night at 7.45 ish. Pretty typical in here at bed time with 5 DDs. Did eventually get to open the wine though!

25 years together. Our last text conversation was yesterday and it was me texting "potatoes. Naan bread." He went to the shop and he asked me (in person) to text him remind him what to buy. Most of our text history is like this.

From me to him: Ian (wasp nest man) has been - no need to hurry back. A week ago. Just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary.

We are retired so are together more than most, or know in advance what each other's plans are. And were alive before texts were invented so have never relied on them for communication.

Ours was WhatsApp.

DH - We're going to have a lovely fun weekend together.
Me - Shall we start with a glass of wine at the park.
DH - Great idea.

He asked me to send him a photo of his bank card which I’d “borrowed” 😂. We text if we need something or sometimes funny tik toks. Married nearly 30 years.

Just over a week ago when we were packing for holiday and I’d had to go to the office for a work meeting.

We've been together 24/7 since then but we usually text twice a week or so. Usually about who’s going to be home when or do we need anything from the shop.

DH does send me something he thinks I might find interesting to read most weeks. He’s like a news article PA!!

Together 20 years. Text most days. Mostly tea / where are the teenagers. His mum loves emojis and we have all started using them all of the time.

We message every day, usually several times. Mostly riveting stuff like yesterday's message letting me know my Amazon packages had arrived.

A text about how the dog had to have a ton of mackrel for breakfast as we forgot to defrost his food & then we discussed if he was sharing it with the cat

This morning, when I was on the loo, to let him know there was armed rebellion in Russia.

A grumble about trains. But it's generally a complete mix of practical stuff, sharing news, jokes, articles, and slush. 23 years.

Um, a quick exchange about how much tax we needed to pay HMRC by the end of the month, confirmation that I'd done the transfer, some snarking about the house two doors down that's for sale at a ridiculous price and how they've now reduced it, and a takeaway order. Over about the last 4 days or so

Mine to DH - ‘you’ll have to get <catsname> in the basket, she nearly had my good eye out last time’

DH to me ‘get the gloves ready, I’ll be home shortly - I have chips’.
