We are together 34 years.

That was at the beginning of May.

Before that it was the beginning of April and we were discussing the Heineken Cup.

Yesterday evening/last night. We text daily as we don't live together.

Me: Good walk?
Him : Yeah it was nice and quiet, only one old man walking his dog. Saw lots of butterflies.
Me: Ah that's awesome. I'm going to sleep, can't keep my eyes open anymore! Kissy face emoji

Been together 5 years. Rarely go without a good morning and good night text if we aren't together.

Last night, I text him saying BBC were showing foo fighters at Glastonbury. He was upstairs putting washing away. Been together 14 years. We text something most days, even if it’s just what we’re planning for tea or one of us has seen something DD would like.

He’s been watering his friend’s greenhouse plants every evening while they’re away and I’ve been getting a running commentary on how many snails he’s found in there each night. 30 yesterday (and a slow worm!)

Together for 10, living together for 6 and most days I get a text around lunchtime with “love you, hope your day isn’t as shit as mine” 🥰😂

Yesterday was edge-of-the-seat thrilling.

Together over 20 years and married for 12.

Yesterday when I shared a sarcastic video reel from Instagram showing a lady whose husband replies to his wife’s romantic text with ‘ok’ and she loses her sh!t. My DH does this all the time and it winds me up.
Married 13 years

Yesterday. Him checking about whether he was needed on Monday eve for something as wanted to work late. Me reminding him of the plans to collect DS from D of E expedition (that we had already discussed earlier in the week and he had completely forgotten). Together 25 years. Totally standard!

This was yesterday just after I got to work and realised I couldn't get in the building... before that it was 3 weeks ago and photos of ds asleep on the sofa at 2 in the morning, he'd managed to get over the stairgate 🤦‍♀️

We've been together 10 years.

We send each other stupid things on messenger most days. Last one was a joke about peas I read on FB when he was asleep early this morning. Been together 17 years, married 15.

We usually use WhatsApp, but it’s too outing as it’s full of school stuff for the kids.

They’re pretty much the same of this though. Together 20 years next month.

Rarely text, because nothing is that urgent and we live in the same house so usually see each other every day! Been together since before mobile phones were invented (& he had a job that meant he couldn't be contacted) so have never seen the need for constant contact.

I'm pregnant at the moment, only the 2 of us know. We were at my sisters on Wednesday, and I needed to throw up. I have awful sickness, and when I'm sick, it's not quiet.

Me: I need to throw up
DH: Follow my lead. I love you
Me: Ok
DH: Wait, do you need me to drive you, shall I come with?
Me: No, I'll be fine (we live 3 minutes away by car)

DH proceeds to ask me in front of everyone, 'Did you lock the front door....'? We both act like we're not sure, cue my exit and subsequent head in the toilet at home.

We've been married for over a year.

Oh my gosh 💔 that's awful. I hope he'll recover in time. 🙏🏻

This is a really sweet thread.

I'm feeling wistful reading it - I'd love to be having these exchanges, and assumed I would when I got married 20 years ago. Abusive marriage so he's now ex, and still causes a lot of pain.

The humdrum banality of these texts is what I crave!

A long and dyslexic message about the logistics of picking up a Facebook Marketplace purchase in the work van and getting vehicles back to where they should be.
After 30 years it's often about the practicalities day to day!

Two weeks ago to let him know that a delivery which he had been expecting still hadn't arrived and there was still time before the store closed if he wanted to chase it up.

Married twenty years. We use texts for practical stuff like this. When we are being sociable it's 98% in person and the remainder is just speaking on the phone.

My last message was a link to a story celebrating the life of James Gandolfini - Tony Soprano, we are both huge fans - as it was 10 years since his death.

No reply! That's not unusual tbh, he's not a big texter.

But we FaceTime every work day for a banal catch up!

Monday, I was generally having a bit of a rough time. DH had already said he would get packed lunch stuff (DCs) on his break at work and I'd told him he needed to add stuff for his work lunches to the shop (which I thought was booked to be delivered Tuesday) when he got home.

I did follow this message up with a call and the later with a YouTube link to clips of batman.
