Woken up being kicked repeatedly, partner says I was snoring

This really, partner woke me by kicking me repeatedly and after I woke and I asked why he said I wad snoring.

He snores literally all the time, I have never once kicked him.

I'm now up stewing on it and feeling angry about being kicked repeatedly like that.

AIBU? I know snoring can be horrible but I have a cold at the moment and don't usually (I don't think, at least not to the extent of being kicked).

Leave.

RandomMess · 23/06/2023 21:47

Separate rooms, it's heavenly

KarmaStar · 23/06/2023 21:47

Sorry but what do you want to know what you may be unreasonable about please ?
Think many people nudge, poke, maybe kick someone snoring if it's repeatedly keeping them awake and they are exhausted.
If however you have bruising and the kicks were hard and his intention was to hurt or injure you that's another matter.
I'm sure he will be fine on the sofa!
Hope you feel much better soon.don't you go on the sofa.🌻

doitwithlove · 23/06/2023 21:47

Agree, separate rooms if you are able to.

readbooksdrinktea · 23/06/2023 21:49

Definitely separate rooms. Snoring makes me feel stabby.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 23/06/2023 21:50

Why on earth do you think its acceptable for anyone to kick you, in any situation?

PauliesWalnuts · 23/06/2023 21:50

I snore. Pretty badly by the sounds of my sleep app. It’s a combination of allergies and the menopause in my case. My partner sleeps with earplugs but if he can still hear me he shakes me awake and asks me to turn over. He has never ever kicked or poked me, and the day he does is the day I tell him to leave - that kind of behaviour is unacceptable.

Just the repeated kicking part. No bruising. Just to get me to stop. Honesty I felt a simple shake to get me to roll over would have done the job. Felt like kicking was a bit harsh.

I used to kick DP when he snored, it's horrific not being able to sleep because of the racket, whether it's temporary (you say due to a cold) or ongoing. Although I did buy fairly expensive but amazingly effective earplugs which mean I don't hear him snoring now.

Would you mind sharing which earplugs you bought please? DH’s snoring has gotten horrendous lately and if it keeps me up as much as it has been, divorce may be my only option

Agree. Separate rooms has saved my marriage!

Pixiedust1234 · 23/06/2023 21:53

It's one thing to be nudged or gently shaken but it really does make you feel uncomfortable and weird out when it's a hard kick, or punch, especially repeatedly. You feel abused but because you woke up from a sleep you think surely not, my partner wouldn't do that. It's discombobulating.

Try sitting up more when sleeping, I used to put a folded up duvet behind me and that helps, but if you have a spare room that would be better.

Do you mind sharing where you got your good earplugs from? Thank you !

I'd love ear plugs, DH uses them but I have a toddler and baby and need to listen for them. 😞

We have a guest in our spare room at the moment. Once she is out I'll go in there.

No point stewing on it and feeling angry…Tell him how you feel if you feel it was unfair and unjustified.

I have a feeling there will be a drip feed at some point here…

ZekeZeke · 23/06/2023 21:56

You are under reacting if anything.
He kicked you. Repeatedly.
What kind of man does this?
He is abusive.

Daffodil92 · 23/06/2023 21:59

Unless he’s kicked you hard enough that it hurt, it’s no worse than nudging or shaking you.
snoring is horrific. I have kicked my husband awake.
If he isn’t abusive in other ways then there are so many overreactions on this thread.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 23/06/2023 21:59

I elbow DH if he's snoring because shaking him awake does absolutely nothing - he just lies there and carries on.

I bought Loop Quiet earplugs, you can get them through their website, or on Amazon (I went for Amazon as they did next day delivery!). They were £20 which I thought was a lot for earplugs, but they've been worth every penny so far, and are actually really comfortable!

Yes this!! “Gentle shake or nudge” lol. As if this works on someone who’s sleeping so heavily they sound like a bloody freight train.

cosmicfig · 23/06/2023 22:03

You are not being unreasonable to be upset by this

eandz13 · 23/06/2023 22:03

Well, shit. Me and DP both have really annoying sleeping habits eg. Teeth grinding, snoring, bed hogging, duvet cocooning. Mine is mainly the bed hogging, he's the teeth grinding, loud snoring twat! Grin

We practically beat the shit out of each other nightly for it. We're forever elbowing and pushing, kicking and rolling! We don't consider ourselves abused.

Not saying you have no right to be mad about the rude wake up, I'm always furious too!!

Menopause does not cause snoring FFS. Not everything can be put down to menopause!

Whichwhatnow · 23/06/2023 22:05

DH snores. I have been known to give him a vigorous shake and sometimes turn him over if he's on his back as it's so much worse then. He's been quite cross if I wake him up but I'm a light sleeper whereas he's fast asleep again within minutes.

I wouldn't kick him though. Think that crosses a line.
