This is where teachers need to have their fight, with the unions not with 15 year olds. Unions need to disassociate themselves from groups like stonewall etc. Teachers need to remove themselves from unions which support harmful ideologies.

Yep. Thread on EIS (Scotland's largest teaching union).

Why are some PPs continuing to talk about secret recordings and not seeing this one through the lens of whistleblowing?

Even the mother of “Crystal” said that when she was first told by her daughter “‘I have to say that when my daughter came home from school and told me what happened. I didn’t believe her, I thought she was a typical teenage girl exaggerating.”

It was only on listening to the recording that the daughter was vindicated.

Weve seen in here the children have been accused of bullying, without evidence and also that children are “little shits”. What hope do they have of being believed?

Whistleblowers are protected for the very fact that they are shining a light on some dubious or illegal practices.

Ive worked in the public sector throughout my working life and if I had been recorded behaving in an aggressive manner, or a hectoring or intimidating manner the issue would be with my behaviour, not that I was recorded. If you’re worried that anything you say could be recorded then you better be sure you’re not saying anything that puts you or the organisation in a bad light.

I believe the teacher should not be working with children but at the same time it is not fair to scapegoat her alone. Management at Rye seems to have lost its way and they have let their students and staff down.

TorringtonDean · 20/06/2023 12:26

These are our children who are being brainwashed and confused with lies presented as facts. The balance of power was all with the teacher - who threatened to remove the kids from the school because they did not agree. It’s a totalitarian approach and bullying too. I’m glad this recording has emerged. Yes, it is whistleblowing. That teacher should be utterly ashamed. The amount of harm that has been done to this current generation of youngsters due to the untruths taught in school is disgraceful. Stick to Pythagoras, teachers!

Cos they are fuckwits or too cowardly to do it themselves. It's easier to tell 13 year old girls to shut up than to see the boat rocked. If the boat is rocked it forces others to see something that might require action. They don't want to take action. They want to sit on their hands whinging about recruitment crisis and mortgages.

Someone made a comment about any one with a pulse who passed a police check being welcomed with open arms as a teacher.

There was a case at a local school just last week. A guy who had been done at a previous school for being inappropriate with a girl got caught doing the same thing again. He had just omitted it from his CV. And there clearly wasn't due diligence done - why was there a gap? Why did he leave his old job? How did he pass checks? This is the second incident this school year.

The lack of awareness of this vulnerability due to desparation is concerning. It should be when people make a fuss not just lie down and accept any all person.

DataNotLore · 20/06/2023 12:40

What exactly were they whistleblowing? Being told off?

This is mob rule here and in the press now.

This is happening in the NHS. Desperaton resulting in recruitment of some nurses with worse literacy and numeracy than some Y6 kids. I am not even joking as I have seen it with my own eyes.

Dadalus · 20/06/2023 12:44

@DataNotLore Give it up.

If this had been a teacher yelling at kids for not believing in god, saying they were despicable etc. etc. , they should go to another school etc. etc. people would be up in arms, (and it might have got reported in the guardian as well instead of just the mail.) This is the same thing. It's a bullying teacher yelling at kids for not believing what they believe.

Threatening, bullying and coercion. Being taught ideologically partisan ideas. Being taught untruths.

If you don’t have the critical thinking skills to understand that this is not about being “told off” then I think you should stick to something less challenging. CBeebies perhaps.

And if you do understand but are choosing not to, then why should anyone bother giving you the time of day? Ironically your name is rather a misnomer considering you’re promulgating cultural theories (which you can’t define) which would be the “lore” side and very low on proper info, you know, data.? and just because I know this will come up , I have a very spangly cunt thanks very much. Or I just have a silly name which doesn’t pretend to be more highbrow than I actually am. Take your pick.

DataNotLore · 20/06/2023 12:48

Those girls were so traumatised by this "bullying" that they were laughing at the end.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 20/06/2023 12:49

Nobody claimed to be traumatised by bullying. Yet again, you’re just making things up now. Hmm, wonder where we’ve seen that approach before?

Being told off for refusing to pretend to believe absolute nonsense.* *

They are exposing the bullshit they are having to put up with and how they are being emotionally blackmailed and coercised to spout nonsense.

Did @DataNotLore address the questions that were put to her earlier in the thread? About the definition of gender? Perhaps I missed it?

No it comes down to people being unable to define words or concepts and it instead others being forced into propping up others fantasies in their head.

And being dominated by people who don't do dictionaries or biology.

TheKeatingFive · 20/06/2023 12:58

And after we clarified we didn't need her to be a dictionary, just to define what she means by words she'd been using all thread?

There's not a lot of point in answering the question about gender at the request of someone who believes that the concept doesn't exist. Of course people are entitled to their stance whatever it may be but there seems to me to be little point in answering a question like that at the request of someone who isn't going to listen to the response other than to rubbish it.

The reason we don't believe it exists is because nobody who claims to believe it exists can actually explain what it is.

If they did explain, that might actually add a new and interesting perspective to this debate and possibly change people's minds.
