Actually, although you are comparing apples and pears here, I don’t think calling a child’s actions “despicable” is professional. You are supposed to be the adult here, why would a child be racist or sexist? It’s through lack of guidance at home. You need to work with that child, using inflammatory language yourself is not helpful.
it is totally irrelevant though to the current point, we are talking ideologies not facts. If you want a comparison imagine an atheist and a Christian in the class. The teacher tells the entire class they have to belief in the Christian God, they must storm his existence, no discussion should be made of other religions and ideologies in case it upsets the Christian. In fact the school is now going to remove evolution from the curriculum and replace it with creationism.
The atheist points put in class they don’t believe there is a god and can’t believe the lack of rationality.
Do you a) tell the child that there are different believe systems and there should be respect shown but it’s ok to disagree,
b) hold the child back after class and tell them that they are a despicable person, unless they subscribe to the Christian ideology and agree with the Nicene creed they should leave the school there is a Christian god and to stop being so disgustingly hateful.
Teachers need guiding by common sense. They need to put pressure on their unions to remove stonewall etc from their profession. It’s been allowed to dictate far too much, there’s always been an issue with the imbalance of political ideologies in teaching/ this needs to be addressed more widely Discussions need to be balanced. Pressure needs to be put on the SLT team to ensure that everyone’s position around this issue should be considered and it be made clear that people are entitled to different beliefs. Schools should stick to facts.
