I'm not a dictionary.

You don't need to be a dictionary to tell us, in your own words, what you mean by a term you've been using in this thread

Totorosfluffytummy · 19/06/2023 18:33

They can't define what they mean by "gender" without outing themselves as sexist homophobic dick panderers!

SunnyEgg · 19/06/2023 18:35

DataNotLore · 19/06/2023 18:27

I'm not a dictionary.

What do you mean when you say it though?

You must have some idea

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2023 18:36

DataNotLore · 19/06/2023 18:27

I'm not a dictionary.

But gender has been always been there...

... how can you say that if you can't define what gender is?!

Its like saying you will legislate for something but can't provide a legal definition.

Its bollocks and means fuck all.

TheKeatingFive · 19/06/2023 18:39

@DataNotLore you said this ...

Insisting that there are only two genders is unacceptable. It's not just an opinion, it's prejudice.

So what did you mean by it? It seemed you had a clear understanding, as that's a strong statement.

maddening · 19/06/2023 18:41

Gender ideology should be treated like any other religion- it is nor appropriate to require children to observe the ideology.

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2023 18:49

Data also said:

There are multiple genders. There always have been. Nobody ever manages to actually refute this, and people who try generally end up resorting to insults.

I'm interested in how you can refute something if people who believe in gender can't define it to begin with.

How can you disprove something if it has no description?!

Its fantasy land crap in your head.

PSNonsense · 19/06/2023 18:52

The same as WOMAN - no one on 'the right side of history' is able to describe what one is (aside from adult human female which we all know is the real definition).

SoftCoeur · 19/06/2023 18:55

SunnyEgg · 19/06/2023 18:35

Yes, exactly. Someone ought to be able to answer it.

If you mean souls, then say souls. But this won't help your argument, because most people will recognise that a soul is a faith-based concept that many don't believe in and for which there is no evidence. It is unprovable and therefore not a basis for legislation.

If you mean personalities, then say personalities. This will also not help your case, of course, as you are then arguing that "trans" means having a personality that "doesn't match" your physical sex, and most people will quickly recognise the fact that personalities are infinite and entirely unrelated to sex anyway.

But I don't think we'll get an answer.

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 19/06/2023 18:59

YABU. People like this have no business teaching impressionable children.

noblegiraffe · 19/06/2023 11:29

If we agree that a pupil who identifies as a cat is likely mentally unwell and therefore vulnerable, then isn’t that even more reason for a teacher to tell off a pupil who upsets them by calling them crazy?

I am astonished that there seem to be some on here who think that the teacher should not have intervened in an unpleasant interaction involving name-calling because they too think the pupil is crazy.

Any child who thinks they are a 🐈‍⬛ should not be in school. They should be running around outside spend their days in the sun and catching a mouse 🐁 for their dinner

Or shitting in their neighbours flower beds.

GodHelpTheOutcasts · 19/06/2023 19:19

Teachers standards were very clearly not being adhered to here.
Those supposed 'teachers' claiming that they are allowed to call students despicable etc might want to reflect on that.

Teachers uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of
ethics and behaviour, within and outside school, by:
• treating pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect,
and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s
professional position
• having regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being, in accordance
with statutory provisions
• showing tolerance of and respect for the rights of others
• not undermining fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule
of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with
different faiths and beliefs

• ensuring that personal beliefs are not expressed in ways which exploit
pupils’ vulnerability or might lead them to break the law.

• Teachers must have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and
practices of the school in which they teach, and maintain high standards in their
own attendance and punctuality.
• Teachers must have an understanding of, and always act within, the statutory
frameworks which set out their professional duties and responsibilities.

@DepartureLounge <waves to a sister > there aren’t many of us and im delighted to meet another one. I don’t think Women’s Studies even exists anymore, it’s all Gender Studies, which imo is an entirely different made up field.

It’s very heartening to read posts like @blackbird77’s. Thank goodness for teachers like you.

Back in the day most people thought your degree was rubbish. Still do.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 19/06/2023 19:38

Well aren’t you a peach @Fisharejumping ? Did you get lost on your way to Reddit?

RhymesWithOrange · 19/06/2023 06:30

No, not one iota of sympathy. She bullied and threatened those children who were speaking the truth. If she had been insisting the world was flat would you defend her?

She called “intersex” a third gender which is grossly offensive to people with DSDs.

The children are absolute heroines.

As usual an early reply nails it.

Like rhymeswithorange I have not one iota of sympathy for someone who was attempting to indoctrinate children with this insane, damaging ideology. Frankly I hope she loses her job, especially for suggesting the kids were homophobic for not buying into this belief system. That's utterly disgusting.

All she needed to say was not only women have a cervix like Kier Starmer did and she would have been pretty near a full house of nonsense.

Well done to the kids, they did a great job of exposing both how unprofessionally the teacher behaved but also what is actually being taught behind closed doors.

There needs to be an urgent public enquiry into what is being taught in schools around gender ideology. It is frightening how far charities like Stonewall managed to permeate into our institutions.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/06/2023 18:07

True PriOn1.

I've just seen this on Twitter:

Catgender is a xenogender in which one feels an extremely strong connection to cats or other felines, either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity. No one believes they are a cat.

https://twitter.com/jschoey/status/1670738708595716098?t=BTEHGNQjGngiSC5Qniv14A&s=19

So... what the hell is a gender, again? This has got nothing to do with biological sex now right?

FFS. What does that even mean?

In that case I am definitely cat gender as, I suspect, are many other people in the UK.

Honestly has western society totally lost the plot or am I just getting old?

SidewaysOtter · 19/06/2023 20:04

TheKeatingFive · 19/06/2023 15:50

I looked up the 72 genders - to check if cat gender is included.

It isn't.

But it's quite a list all the same. Worth a look. My head is absolutely spinning. Who decides what's a gender and what isn't? What's the criteria?

https://www.medicinenet.com/what_are_the_72_other_genders/article.htm

Fuck me, what a time to be alive.

RavingStone · 19/06/2023 20:15

"No one believes they are a cat"

That's a bit of a tell re gender IDs in general.

strawberry2017 · 19/06/2023 20:28

The teacher handled the situation terribly. There were more appropriate ways to have the conversation.

Screamingabdabz · 19/06/2023 20:35

If she had said anything halfway respectful or reasonable to present both sides she’d have just been seen as doing her job. But she’s actively gaslighting and bullying sensible and intelligent pupils. I know there is a teaching crisis but I hope she, and the entire SLT, lose their jobs for what actually amounts to pernicious radicalising of harmful ideology.

If we wanted a dictionary definition we'd look in the dictionary. We want to know what you understand the word to mean when you use it.

There's a link to the story, the op wouldn't link the actual recording because once you hear it you will lose sympathy for the teacher
