What is a gender? how can you assign a gender? How can you decide which gender a person belongs into? If gender is something that you are then is it fixed? If it isn't fixed how can it be tested to confirm its real. Actually how can it be checked to confirm gender exists other than as a set of societal expectations and expressions.

I have a thirty year old degree in Women’s Studies and there was none of this craziness then. All we had was good old fashioned misogyny, now we have lesbians with dicks supposedly. No such thing btw, just in case my position isn’t clear.

Maybe the crisis in teacher recruitment is partly down to the fact the people capable of critical thinking cannot bear to have aggressive and arrogant colleagues like the ones posting on this thread? Talk about being both detracting and divisive. The children themselves are dictating that this nonsense cannot continue. Of course trans people deserve every respect but we cannot deny biological realities

There are multiple genders. There always have been. Nobody ever manages to actually refute this, and people who try generally end up resorting to insults.

Fairly sure if you were to ask my relatives who were alive in 1920, they wouldn't come up with 'multiple genders' as a concept. Male and Female sexes, yes. But beyond that, nope.

I think this can be fairly easily refuted by looking at historical documents. It is not a concept that has existed in this country or culture.

Identities may differ culturally around the world, but not universally and not in the way gender exists now. They were previously more social statuses and personalities. And were not open to all classes in society.

The teacher was bullying those girls no matter what had transpired prior to the recording. If her duty was to put a stop to their alleged bullying of cat person, then as the professional she should have advised the girls it wasn’t acceptable and that she would be contacting their parents in due course. She didn’t do that, she had to go further and demand they should believe in fantasyland As I said, she bullied those girls which is totally unacceptable. She used shame, guilt tripping and threats to get her points across. As for her believing there are 3 sexes 🙄 she needs reeducation herself!

We have teachers losing their careers because they refuse to play the game, where is the sympathy for them as their mortgages also need to be paid.

I am so thankful to those girls for standing up for what’s right.

This is a great thread btw. Such a relief to be able speak freely when everyone IRL is terrified of the dreaded bigot label. My women's studies degree is almost as old as @HoofWankingSpangleCunt's and tbh I often find the FSG threads a bit above my pay grade because so much of this crazy stuff wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eye only a few short decades ago. Scary how quickly we can all be trussed up by an ideology.

I am a Biology teacher and am Gender Critical. I will openly say this to other teachers and SLT if pressed. I will be not teaching children things like 1000 genders exist or that individuals can change their biological sex. I teach students biological fact, not fantasy. Even amongst my own science department, I am a minority voice which is utterly shameful. If you can't rely on science teachers to hold firm then who can you trust? Thing is, I don't even think any of them even believe it. They're just going along with it because they have fallen for the progressive misguided educational view that every student whim and feeling, however irrational, must be placated to or given credence.

I am appalled by the gender ideology going on in schools. It's a massive breach of safeguarding and I will absolutely not socially affirm a child who wants to identify as the opposite sex without firm parental permission. If I am ever asked to keep a secret from a parent about a child, I would seriously consider resignation over it. You wouldn't keep an eating disorder or talk about self-harm or suicide from a parent about their child so why would you keep this from them? It's a huge safeguarding risk. It prevents parents from seeking support and help for their child and needs to be treated like any other mental unwellness. Socially affirming children is not a passive or neutral act. Doctors and nurses have recently been advised they cannot do this either.

I am sick of this capitulation to what is nothing more than a social contagion. Why are teachers so willing to throw away their professional reputation, their integrity and their natural reasoning skills just to pander to a minute minority of the population who will most likely change their mind about it in a few months? It actually boggles my mind so much.

The list of 72 "genders" - sounds like it's encouraging dissociative identity disorders which like gender identities are often associated with past or ongoing trauma, abuse or simply overwhelming life events.

Indeed - raises major red flags that any of this is being pushed by schools. No wonder so many children's anxiety is through the roof when who are meant to be responsible adults in schools promote unscientific gender woowoo.

I totally agree. This is abuse , and all you need to do is follow the money to see who benefits from children believing they’re born in the wrong body.

Anybody telling a child they can change sex or that there are 72 genders is abusive. I will never ever believe differently.

@nothingcomestonothing Perhaps some people feel like that but it has to come in to the 'debate' when you really boil down 'what does it mean to be male or female'- is it internal organs or external ones? Does one get precedent? Or is it genetic makeup (let's remember that most of us will never know our DNA mapping) and that overrides physicality?

So no I don't feel sorry for the teacher who was recorded. I feel immensely enraged that someone who works in such an influential position be spouting such utter trite to our impressionable youngsters. What an utterly brave young person to stand up to this. This teacher has no backbone and our youngsters deserve the truth.
