I was 22 having my first and will be 37 having my last. Just wanted to see is 37 a common age for having your last baby. I never dreamt I'd be pregnant at 37 . I always thought that it was a bit old. Now I'm scared that I'm just being selfish and could have a baby with lots of issues.

33, DH vasectomy booked in!! I feel so young to be done 😢😢 but AM totally done 😄 that’s because that’s my 3rd kid, not because of my age. I know loads of older parents, my NCT group was mainly 38-42 year olds and then me at 27 😄

I was 37. I personally think having a baby at 22 is more selfish as how on earth would you have a degree, a decent career going, bought a property and had a couple of years just being a married couple by that age? All of which I'd done by 35 when I had my first. Oh and they're both sensational kids!

We didn’t have any of that when we had our first. He was a surprise and we were pretty much on our arses for the first year of his life. But with some hard bloody work, within 3 years we had bought a house, a car and dad had a very stable job with longterm prospects. It’s playing on hard mode, but it’s ridiculous to think that you need everything sorted before you have a child. It doesn’t make parenting any less daunting whatever your age or circumstances of having your first baby.

41, no regrets

Nope, absolutely deadly serious! Putting yourself in the position to have kids is no joking matter. And I know life can turn on a dime as it has, but because of the situation I.put myself in before having my babies it's absolutely nothing I can't handle now they're here!

Having a degree doesn’t ensure you’re not an absolute twat and I think the latter is more important before having a baby than the former. HTH 😀

I had my first at 18 and second at 27. I have been to university twice and worked part time whilst they were both small. I am a professional with a career. I have a mortgage and they have never missed out on anything. Plus they have a young Mum and Dad with loads of energy. Your post is not only judgemental but extremely small minded.

😂😂 you may have all that but you clearly don’t have social skills or an open mind 😅
Not sure your version of ‘sensational’ would match most other people’s if you’ve raised your kids with the same attitude you have. Wow.
I have 3 ‘sensational’ kids but no degree, am on my 3rd house aged 33, household income in top 10%, have travelled the world, first kid at 25. But also people can be amazing amazing parents with far far less. So suck on that!

Pretty sure we're done but never say never 😂

Letsdance8188 · 18/06/2023 09:15

I had my first and only child at 26 which is an age I was happy with. I personally didn't want kids past the age of 30, not that I think it's too old!

Furrydogmum · 18/06/2023 09:15

22 first and 26 second (last)

TheFormidableMrsC · 18/06/2023 09:16

29 when I had my first, 42 when I had my second. Second pregnancy and birth was much much better.

FussyPud · 18/06/2023 09:18

Early thirties, which for the area I live in is quite old.

tiredmama23 · 18/06/2023 09:18

21 with my first
35 with my second

I'm 38 now and wouldn't completely rule out a 3rd 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

LikeAnOldFriend · 18/06/2023 09:18

30 for my first, 32 (nearer 33) for second and last.

VestaTilley · 18/06/2023 09:19

@AntiHop no it isn’t. And I’m an older mother. If the OP has grown up in an area where Mum’s are generally in their 20s then of course she’ll wonder if she’s doing the right thing.

Saying something that’s true isn’t “offensive”. Having babies when you’re older (mid 30s up) is higher risk for you and them. That’s just a fact of life.

Aberteifi · 18/06/2023 09:19

1st. 19
2nd 20
3rd 28
4th 35
5th and last 37

IsGoodIsDon · 18/06/2023 09:20

i was 37 with my last baby. Now I’m 44 and wishing I had them earlier though most other mums at school all seem similar ages.

Randomness12 · 18/06/2023 09:22

35, no issues

Shopper727 · 18/06/2023 09:23

I was 22 for my first. Was a qualified nurse, partner qualified mechanical engineer had our own little house, paid for childcare -I only worked 3 days so easily manageable - he’s now 22 soon had last At 33

ThisHeatIsKillingMeOff · 18/06/2023 09:24

1 - 19.
2 - 24.

Wanted my kids early on in life, don't regret it at all.
