A toaster that is completely crumb free including the area where the toast is prepared. I cannot stand crumbs!

Vitriolinsanity · 17/06/2023 17:33

A chute that goes from the bedroom to the washing machine to save lugging laundry downstairs.

A special ability to tune out irritating sound but which still enables you to hear everything else normally.

Multi using lamp posts as a means of holding EV charging points.

Underfloor wine vats with a filling point on the kitchen counter.

greenspaces4peace · 17/06/2023 17:39

The crumb catcher is already available as are laundry chutes.

You guys don’t have laundry chutes? It’s not rocket science to build one, it’s a hole in the wall (between the wall studs) with a metal sheath inserted to help the laundry slide. I have one in my house (US)

SummerBaby23 · 17/06/2023 17:41

@Vitriolinsanity I had a laundry/utility room made upstairs. No lugging laundry anywhere, as even with a chute you’ve got to take it back up again!

Sunnydaysareuponus · 17/06/2023 17:42

Dc with an on/off button or at least a volume switch..
Ddogs that absolutely don't shed..
Dcats that never puke up a fur ball when you +guests are eating birthday cake..

saltinesandcoffeecups · 17/06/2023 17:42

In fairness laundry chutes have fallen out of fashion in new builds. I think the hay day was for houses built between the ‘40s and ‘70s

the crumb catcher is rubbish.
crumbs stick to it. ditto the crumbs on the 'elevator'.
maybe I should clean more often

Ooh clever! You should invent this.

These exist; my friend has one near her house in twickenham.

Ponderingwindow · 17/06/2023 17:49

I used to live in a house with a laundry chute. Freaked me out at first, but it was really handy.

greenspaces4peace · 17/06/2023 17:49

@greenacrylicpaint i've got a central vac system and have several floor access points for sweeping and i don't have any issues. the wide crumb tray looks easy enough to wipe down every now and then.

AliceOlive · 17/06/2023 17:50

I have a laundry chute and it’s amazing.

I want a whisk that flattens for easy washing.

Ponderingwindow · 17/06/2023 17:50

my current house just has the laundry room next to the bedrooms.

There was a post a while ago about re-designing bras. So I have been giving it some thought.

The cantilever shelf bra. Picture this: some lead weight on the back of your bum, like a bustle, held by a waist or hip belt. Then two rods going up the side of your torso, with a shelf at the front on which your boobs can rest, the weight of boobs being balanced by the weights at the rear.

I know, call me a genius. I hereby now freely give up the patent so that the good women of Mumsnet can benefit in perpetuity.
