Anyone know what's happening?

pickledandpuzzled · 13/06/2023 09:10

Lots of police. No ambulances or fire engines.

Kiwano · 13/06/2023 09:15

Newspapers say there has been a "major incident"

Waitymatey · 13/06/2023 09:16

Think all emergency services are present from most recent news

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2023 09:16

I have sky news on and they don't know anything. Just speculation and national liaison officers and armed officers on the streets
I thought it might be a bomb at first , but doesn't look that way. Lots of roads are sealed off and public transport has stopped

User15387534 · 13/06/2023 09:17

Twitter has gone into overdrive, probably best if the authorities tell the the public soon. Wasn't this what that alert thing was for?

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2023 09:18

Looks like it's a wide area that been cordoned off and everything has been stopped
No statements issued as yet

JaukiVexnoydi · 13/06/2023 09:18

My totally uninformed speculation is that a massive terrorist attack has been prevented.

Thats a good point.

pickledandpuzzled · 13/06/2023 09:20

Must depend where you are, which service you can see.
There's a liaison officer coordinating different services.

Twitter rumours are saying multiple stabbings, multiple people run over. RUMOURS, though.

I imagine they can't say what's happened until they've assessed the scale of it.

MermaidEyes · 13/06/2023 09:20

I know a few Uni students in Nottingham. Hope everything is ok. My first thought was bomb or terrorist attack.

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2023 09:21

Did anyone's phone go off ?
Mine didn't when it was just a test!
That said it could be anything. Without any kind of statement it's all just rumours and speculation.

MadamWhiteleigh · 13/06/2023 09:21

PinkyFlamingo · 13/06/2023 09:18

Thats a good point.

Is the alert system live? I sort of thought it was still in the test phase.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 13/06/2023 09:22

My dc at uni there was meant to go back today but now tomorrow I think. Friends are still there so hopefully all ok

AtomicBlondeRose · 13/06/2023 09:22

Yet another major police incident where one bloody sentence of information would stop a lot of speculation and worry for anyone who had friends/family in the area. Of course they can't give chapter and verse about what's happening but "risk to public security" or "road accident" etc would be helpful in these situations.

User15387534 · 13/06/2023 09:23

Yes, Twitter has had everything from chemical attack to a tram derailment, they should give a general idea to stop speculation

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2023 09:23

I hope nobody has died , but to have this level of intervention means it must be very bad :(
I agree that a few words would stop all the rumours , but I suppose they have their reasons
Seems it's been going on for a few hours now

CalistoNoSolo · 13/06/2023 09:23

If its a terrorist attack is there an obvious target in Nottingham? One of my daughters friends is at Uni there, hope she's OK.

MissSmiley · 13/06/2023 09:24

Victoria centre is still open according to Nottinghamshire Live

FedgeHund · 13/06/2023 09:25

I hope nobody is hurt.

I assume Twitter is full of 👽 posts? I don't believe in Aliens btw!

CookieCutter8 · 13/06/2023 09:26

Just hope nobody has been injured or killed 🙏 not sounding good though. Extremely worrying for people with children at Uni there etc

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 13/06/2023 09:26

There is lots of rumour and speculation on Twitter, but not much in the way of actual information. No idea what's going on tbh. Hope that it turns out not to be too serious.

Supposedly the tram derailment was because it was hit by lightning last night.

fishonabicycle · 13/06/2023 09:28

My son lives there - student - obviously still asleep so no information from him.

You'll be able to get there, as long as he's not city centre.

Anotherblueday · 13/06/2023 09:33

What service are the people in the red outfits?
