For wanting a boob job?

For context I’m 44. Small ( think A cup) very saggy boobs. Body shape an apple and clothes just look awful on me because I have no balance to my body just wide hips and a flat chest. So many more things I could do with the money but never do anything for myself. So am I being selfish? Would take a bit of saving money wise but I hate my body and even 15 yr old girls have bigger boobs than me! Just sick of clothes looking crap on me no matter what I buy.

Definitely a lot of over dramatic posters on here! If I was worried about dying I probably wouldn’t step outside of my house!

I’d say that if you can afford it and you think it will change your life then do it. I had my ears pinned back when I was 15 and it changed my life. So I’m all for carefully thought out cosmetic surgery x

Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 21:59

Going to do my research have a surgeon in mind so not going into it totally clueless.

I am 37 and have spent my entire life HATING my boobs. A cup, wide rib cage, belly that sticks out further than my boobs ever did - even at my thinnest I still looked “wrong”. I have looked into plastic surgery so many times but never actually did it. I saved up for it and said I would do it after I had a baby. They didn’t even get any bigger when I was pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️

When DD was 16 weeks I found out I had breast cancer. I’ve just finished treatment and am basically flat on one side now, and I can honestly say I don’t give a fuck - don’t get me wrong, I hate them even more now (especially as one of them tried to kill me) but I’m damned if I’m doing anything to them that might make it harder for me to find out if the bastard has tried to come back. I’m gonna get Invisalign with that money I saved.

I’m not posting this to scare you. Just make sure you check yourself all the time so you know what’s normal for you even if you do go for it. All the best, because I know exactly how you feel.

mrlistersgelfbride · 10/06/2023 22:05

I don't know, I would generally say yes to this but I do think it's not the best message to send out, considering you have 16 year old daughter.

I have a huge nose. When I was young I wanted rhinoplasty and never thought I'd ever have a boyfriend. Well, that was rubbish. I had loads and it's never held me back in any area of life. I could probably afford the surgery now but tbh I'd rather spend the money on DD, a nice holiday together or something.
Has having small boobs ever held you back? What would you do with the money if you didn't have surgery? You don't have to change how you are to confirm with society's perception of beauty. Bugger that.
I personally think small boobs are fantastic, you won't get back pain from them and they won't hurt when you exercise. You can find clothes to fit.

It's fundamentally up to you though, sounds like you have made your mind up.

Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 22:08

@WorryMcGee so sorry to hear that and I totally get where your coming from. The way you described your body type is very similar to how mine is wide rib cage, belly bigger than my boobs. Hope all has gone well with your treatment.

@Oysterbabe my dd has no boobs either takes after me but she’s body confident and has a lovely figure so not affected by it at all.

Until she gets the message from you that they are something to be ashamed of, and 'fixed'....

PerfectYear321 · 10/06/2023 22:11

If it's just about how you look in clothes then YADBU because be there are lots of options such as padded bras and chicken fillets. If it was about how you look naked I could understand it a bit more.

If you're apple-shaped bare in mind you'll probably end up looking bigger with boobs.

The recent pasding of Ms Jackie Oh would also put me off ☹️www.tmz.com/2023/06/01/dc-young-fly-ms-jacky-oh-dead-dies-partner-jaclyn-smith/

But it is about how I look naked I just look
so mismatched and not very feminine tbh.

My daughter had an anaesthetic incident during one of her surgeries. Having been through this I wouldn't risk a GA for cosmetic reasons.

xyz111 · 10/06/2023 22:16

ThatFraggle · 10/06/2023 21:34

There are so many padded bras, not just stuffed with foam, but actually squidgy. And chicken fillets.

You could die for this elective surgery. Like what happened to Kanye West's mum.
What would happen to your DC if you died.

Oooh what ones are squidgy? I always have to have a double cup padding as I'm so flat chested, but it's all just foam 🤦🏻‍♀️

LittlePoBeep · 10/06/2023 22:18

I had a tummy tuck at 45. Best thing I ever did! Do your research. I took out finance over 5 years. Not one single regret!

Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 22:15

But it is about how I look naked I just look

Ok imagine you had wonderful perfect new boobs. Would you still be happy with all the rest of you?

WorryMcGee · 10/06/2023 22:23

@Ilovemycatalot I really really know how you feel. I always felt so misshapen, even when I lost so much weight that my tummy was pretty much flat I still had no waist and such a wide rib cage that I still looked “wrong”. I always felt like I was too “big” to get away with having no boobs if you know what I mean, I’m not dainty or waif like so it just looks stupid to me. I’m not overweight, I just have what I would consider to be the worst body shape in the world 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Having cancer hasn’t made me not care how I look - on the contrary (lost all my hair from chemo, never felt so shit) BUT it seems the treatment has been successful and I don’t want to have to do it again and it’s that that’s changed my mind. I need to know what I’m feeling in my breasts when I check them is either healthy breast tissue or something sinister. I can’t add anything else in to confuse matters. If I could wish them bigger I would still do it in a heartbeat!

Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 22:24

getting a boob job would improve my body confidence 100%. Would my body be perfect? Of course not but I can live with everything else I just want some balance to my body shape.

OP posts:
Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 22:26

@WorryMcGee you have basically described how I feel about my body shape! So glad the treatment has been successful.

OP posts:
Thatsnotmyname223 · 10/06/2023 22:27

Life's short. If it'll make you happier, do it. It's shit feeling crap about your body.

Fluffyowl00 · 10/06/2023 22:32

I have the opposite problem and have been planning to have a breast reduction for years. But when I had my daughter via cesarean (even though the surgery was perfect) I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to not be perfectly healthy.

I realised I took my good health for granted and being ‘an invalid’ even for a short time was awful. I now wouldn’t consider non essential surgery.

BUT if it’s destroying your life and you are prepared for probably 6 months of uncomfortableness (not pain, it’s just gradual ‘shifting’) whilst your body repairs Then you should do it. You know what you need.

FrankieStar · 10/06/2023 22:35

To be honeat OP, I'm more drawn to saying "go for it". You're 44 and by this point in life, a human knows their own mind and it's quite different in my opinion, to being a teenager or young 20-something year old that is perhaps more likely to regret having the surgery and not thought it through as much.

Agree of course with all PP that say to do research and find a really good surgeon, am sure you will.

I don't think you're being selfish. From what you've said, this sounds like it could be a wonderful boost for your self confidence.

Hibye23289 · 10/06/2023 22:37

I had mine done 12years ago still love them I don't have them out on display. I am 34 now with 2 kids and they are so full and not saggy

CheeseandTrees · 10/06/2023 22:39

I had mine done about 15 years ago when I was 21. I don't regret them at all thanks to a surgeon who convinced me that bigger isn't better. He insisted on sizing them to my frame and he was absolutely right.

Crayfishforyou · 10/06/2023 22:42

Yanbu
your body, your money, your choice. Just make sure it is an informed choice and choose your surgeon wisely.

ThatFraggle · 10/06/2023 22:43

I'm not being dramatic by saying you could die under general anaesthetic or miss breast cancer symptoms. It is a fact.

All surgery carries a risk of death, much higher than 'just walking out the front door'. Of course if you need it to save your life, then that's part of the risk.

But for something you can fix with the right bra, risking death seems so foolish.

And if it's for when you are naked with someone else, know that a large proportion of breast implant patients lose nipple sensation.

And if it is for when you are naked alone, then spend the money on therapy.

Ilovemycatalot · 10/06/2023 22:43

I don’t want to go to a stupid size just something right for my frame.
