To sneak alcohol into a concert ?

willwetalkinthemorning · 10/06/2023 12:38

Going to a concert tonight in a large stadium
Prices are extortionate
Your looking at £10 for a gin
I have a foldable wine bottle holder which I plan on putting gin in and putting it in back of jeans
Buying lemonade from inside with a glass than adding my own gin
Would you do it ?

I go to quite a lot of gigs and fewer drunk people would only improve them.

DD has had a couple of gigs really spoiled by some extremely drunk people. At the first one a very drunk woman was annoying other members of the audience as well. In the end security threw her out.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying a couple of drinks at a gig but I can't understand when you have forked out £££ for a ticket why you would get so drunk you can't enjoy the concert, plus there is the issue of the queues for the loos.

Thank you for your amazing and hilarious insight. 🙄

You're most welcome 😈

I personally wouldn't do it because it's dishonest and not respecting the venues terms and conditions, which you effectively agree to when you purchase the ticket.

This thread has also got me very concerned about what can get past security and has put me off being ok with my 16 year old going to concerts.

Your poor kid

BarbaraofSeville · 10/06/2023 18:05

I'm also concerned about the lack of security if all this smuggled booze is getting in undetected.

I wouldn't do it because I hate warm drinks and would rather do without or buy at the bar.

But most of these prices people are quoting are hardly any more than city pubs and bars. Do you take your own drinks there too?

Oblomov23 · 10/06/2023 18:10

No one ever body searches me, I get most disappointed when they don't!

Maireas · 10/06/2023 18:18

Nobody ever searches me either, but I suspect it's because I'm in a clown costume and on stilts.

CremeEgg1983 · 10/06/2023 18:19

@saltinesandcoffeecups Why?

That's what concerns me too. The security doesn't seem to be very tight especially after the Manchester arena bombing.

NewPinkJacket · 10/06/2023 18:21

I sneaked 2 cans of rum and coke into the 02 a couple of months ago.

I hid them at the bottom of my handbag but my friend and I were waved through without being searched at all anyway.

I'm organising an event at a sports venue in the autumn and the corporate hospitality wine list price is shocking. £53 for a bottle of procescco, you can buy the same wine in Sainsbury's for £15! Really shocking so I'm not surprised that people want to take their own drinks in. Stadium prices are bordering on daylight robbery.

Nope totally happy to pay that price in city centres (although I'm in Leeds and hard pressed to have to pay that much anywhere, max you generally pay for a pint is £6 and £8-9 for a LARGE wine) as it's a decent drink in a proper glass, not warm piss water in a cardboard cup.

You are an angel.

Now questioning my own morals.

I think the terms and conditions when serving white wine is it should be cold! Because paying £10 for a glass of luke warm white wine is day light robbery!

CremeEgg1983 · 10/06/2023 20:35

@SamphireSandwich I agree with you, it absolutely is daylight robbery.

LlynTegid · 10/06/2023 21:03

Perhaps you should be campaigning via local councillors or your MP if you have a venue in your constituency to make it a condition of licence for events that there are not rip-off prices. On the grounds that it encourages people drinking to excess beforehand or to bring in spirits which are stronger, so arguably about public safety.

Tidlywinks · 10/06/2023 21:05

Yeah, just stick it in your bra, that's what we do. There's no need for such high prices at gigs!

Billyho · 10/06/2023 21:19

Hintofreality · 10/06/2023 13:24

Urgh, imagine pulling out
a sweaty pouch from your bra and drinking from it 🤮

Ahh it’s fine and DH had never had an issue with my tits being sweaty so he’d gladly help drink it!
