Posting her for quick traffic - I’ve got 10 mins to decide !

Relevant :

  • Im literally never off work with sickness - I’ve had covid twice and loads of other illnesses but will power through 😷
  • It’s lovely weather this week (UK) and I want to enjoy it before we’re back in winter.
  • No one covers my job.
  • I need annual leave for childcare in summer hols.

YABU - Get to work you lazy loser
YANBU - Life’s short, you deserve a week in the sun with no pesky kids.

It’s lovely weather this week (UK) and I want to enjoy it before we’re back in winter

It’s the first week of June 🙄

Fifthtimelucky · 04/06/2023 23:45

Of course you shouldn't.

If you want leave, use your annual leave entitlement. You can't just award yourself an extra 5 days of holiday.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/06/2023 23:45

You can’t just skive off for a week to enjoy the weather, no.

It’s basically stealing.

I can’t see how this would ever be reasonable.

I can sort of see someone taking one day if they’ve had a really tough time, mental health suffering etc, but a week just because you feel like it? No.

Thedogscollar · 04/06/2023 23:47

Not a great work ethic then.
YABU.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/06/2023 23:50

Do it :D

Eastie77Returns · 04/06/2023 23:53

I’d say go for if no-one has to cover your work and as you mention you are never usually off. I wouldn’t take 5 days as that’s a bit long but a couple of days to enjoy the sunshine - why not. No-one on their death bed wished they’d spent more time at work.

Ignore the dramatic responses here. Basically stealing…lol.

IKnowItsNotMine · 05/06/2023 00:09

Just needed one to agree - thanks guys !

Go for it! Work isn't life.

Macey78 · 05/06/2023 00:12

Go for it - seeing as it won't affect anyone else. At our place we have someone who will always take a week off sick as they feel they need it. Will also tell us that next week we wont see them as they are going to be sick.

Azandme · 05/06/2023 00:12

"Sick" employee returns with tan...

They'll know. They can't prove it, but trust will be damaged.

And it's fraud, even if people don't realise it.

JamSandle · 05/06/2023 00:15

None of us are going to be retiring most likely and the world is going to hell in a hand basket.

Enjoy some time doing nice things while you can!

Michellebops · 05/06/2023 00:20

Do it!
Life's too short ☀️

Loopyloo159 · 05/06/2023 00:25

Only skive if you are definitely not letting anyone down!

sweatynoob · 05/06/2023 00:28

Do it 😂

SirenSays · 05/06/2023 00:31

Enjoy your week off 🍹

TheThinkingGoblin · 05/06/2023 00:31

Why not just work remotely from the beach?

Solves your problem.

lifestylevlog · 05/06/2023 00:54

I can't believe people are saying that the OP should skive work to enjoy the sun!

Tracker1234 · 05/06/2023 00:59

Lazy loser. Bet some poor person will be covering your work otherwise what is the point of you?

DiscoBeat · 05/06/2023 02:17

For a day, as a one-off? Do it. A whole week? No. What if you actually need sickness leave? Lost a whole week already - not helpful!

She obviously wants to not be at work and still be paid.

Did she say that? Don't presume things

theGooHasGone · 05/06/2023 03:39

Shitty attitude. This is what annual leave is for.

AmberTart · 05/06/2023 03:57

I'd take 2/3 days sick if to literally never take sick leave and I wouldn't feel guilty tbh.
