To think Phillip schofield scandal is homophobia?

Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

This is not my opnion or view that only gay men can be peadophiles. This is the opnion of my MIL and FIL, I think the opinion is totally ignorant personally.

AntiSocial6DaysAWeek · 08/06/2023 12:58

Why all the talk about paedophiles? Personally I do believe he groomed him (personal opinion which means nothing) and either way, he looked VERY young which is - at best - very creepy a grown adult would be sexually attracted to someone that looked so young, whatever their age.

But I can't see any reports he may be a paedophile other than from those who don't understand what the term means.

A twinke 😅

CrazyArmadilloLady · 08/06/2023 15:25

The only time I’ve ever heard that word (except, it was spelt, i assume

I don’t know I’ve never heard of it before it was something posted on here. I don’t know if it’s a widely used term across heterosexual preferences etc

Quitelikeit · 08/06/2023 15:27

Thankfully to my knowledge I don’t know any person gay or straight who has a twinke preference

CrazyArmadilloLady · 08/06/2023 15:30

That spelling is weird.

The only time I’ve ever come across that word (spelt differently) was on Friends, about Monica and Richard.

Quitelikeit · 08/06/2023 15:37

maybe I haven’t spelled it correctly? Like I said I’ve only seen it mentioned on this thread. Maybe someone else knows

not sure why you’re so interested in it though 🤣🤣🤣

Quite common for gay men. I'd say a twink is a slim man under 25 with a fairly androgynous look.

I’m not.

I just find the assertion that ‘gay men can have a taste for them’ pretty offensive.

You may not realise, but the device you're using to read Mumsnet has access to this thing called the intarnette, or something like that, where you can look things up. So I've been told, I've never tried myself Grin

Quite common for heterosexual men, too.

It’s not like straight men haven’t gone for young looking women since time immemorial….?

Well I mean girls aren't called twinks, but yes definitely.

I suspect quite a lot of heterosexual women would say that a fit guy of 21 has quite a lot going for him that a podgy guy of 38 has not Grin

How would you know?

Most people don't instruce themselves like "Hi I'm John and I like young slim clean-shaven men"

As I say, the only time I’ve come across the word, it was being used to describe a young woman (in relation to a straight older man)….

I mean I also think men in their early 20s are atttractive 😂 when he was on TM he looked perfectly of age

Honestly, I think men in their early 20s look like children. (This is obviously very different to them actually being children).

When I was at uni I noticed it too (so not entirely down to age perspective – I’m late 30s now). A lot of guys (and women) my age looked pretty much like teenagers, with teenage looking features, until they reached their late 20s, when they still looked <young> but also more ‘grown up’ and less adolescent in appearance. There’s a really different look to very young people on the whole, and I prefer someone who looks like a fully mature man, rather than a rosy-faced youth. People that age don’t even register on my radar in terms of, I don’t know - viability, attraction.

I didn’t realise you are not allowed to say that?

Can you describe what was offensive? Genuinely? Is it the word gay? I hold my hands up as I didn’t know that was not supposed to be used

the people I know and associate with are in relationships with people in their own age range give or take a year or three

It’s just singling gay men out for the sort of behaviour that straight men display All The Time.

’Gay men have a taste for them’, I mean sorry, but who says that with a straight face?

It’s not a behaviour peculiar to gay men in the slightest. You’re singling out and casting aspersions on a group of people for no reason.

Quitelikeit · 08/06/2023 21:04

I think there was a misunderstanding

somebody on this thread said they thought PS might be a twinke

I asked what it was and they said it was when a man liked his partner to look young

as a straight person I have never ever heard the word before and assumed it was used exclusively for that purpose within that type of sexual remit

I am not responsible for creating that word and nor have I used it other than my previous post

If it is offensive in the gay community then I do apologise but no one else on here said that it was
