To think Phillip schofield scandal is homophobia?

Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

Quite like it I'm not saying he didn't. He had consensual sex with a younger
adult male. There are indeed far worse things in liife

There is a bit more to the story than that

Member869894 · 05/06/2023 22:41

What is the bit more?? That he met him whn he was underage amd had a relationship with him as am adult? That doesnt necessarily mean he groomed him. That he had a much better job than him??

Me neither.

Did you really think most child sex offenders make are made ip of the 3% gay population?

No, I merely asked why you made your original statement. You're the one twisting your own statements about and throwing insults around unnecessarily.

I have read two-thirds of the offenders against children are heterosexual men, and one-third are homosexual men - but as homosexual men make up (allegedly) such a small percentage of the male population, then they in fact make up a much larger percentage of the male pedophile population.

I actually don't care. A ped's a ped. As someone who was sexually abused as a child, I don't particularly enjoy being harangued on this topic, thanks very much.

Ladybug3 · 06/06/2023 00:09

I actually think people would be more disgusted if a powerful 50 year old man befriended a teenage girl, used his influence to get her media job and then took advantage of his status to start having sex with her when it was legal.

As I said at the start of this thread, I really disagree with this - people would be saying what a cad he was and calling the girl a slag.

I’ll tell you what I HAVE noticed though. The lack of blame for the runner. No one has called him a home wrecker, or made derogatory comments. But when Adam Johnson groomed a 14/15yo a couple of years ago (something we KNOW he did and was convicted of) there were columns written in newspapers literally calling her a slag in the title.

I'm not sure if pp has actual stats but surely there are a number of those people who target male children and have an attraction to males

However, those people/men aren't necessarily gay. They target children that are accessible to them of either sex. So it's not a case of your average gay man - it's just men who are indiscriminately attracted when it comes to children.

I also don't want to get into a debate about nonces though!

Are you saying Paedophiles are bisexual?

BBYBjorn · 06/06/2023 08:44

Are you just looking to be argumentative? Peadophilia is not a sexuality. Some peadophiles target both sexes.

Is this news to you?

SequinsandStilettos · 06/06/2023 11:10

The timeline of all this and how it has occurred still sits wrong with me.
If it was simply about burying a story in order to improv relationships with ITV, why have the media reneged on that?
If the runner never wanted it out in the open or published, never threatened to sell his story and is still tight-lipped now, how did they have enough to publish without breaking right to private life? If it was crossover of grooming/Phil's brother, how did the story break given the runner's reticence and the fact that he agrees it was consensual/legal?
Nobody else has come out the woodwork despite rumours of live-in lockdown lovers, lovers needing references and one site claiming the younger runner found out Phil was having lunch with another. That's simply a relationship break-up then, so why has the story broke now and how much did Phillip get paid for leaving quiet-ishly?

Gothambutnotahamster · 06/06/2023 11:15

I do wonder the same @SequinsandStilettos

dancinginthesky · 06/06/2023 11:19

This is the problem with grooming - in that, lots of people particularly the victim is often unaware/uncertain if it's happened

The power imbalance alone and there's evidence that MM had some strings pulled for him beyond his own abilities and experience like being on stage at the awards show whilst a junior and the showreel along with the convenient "promotion" to Loose Women when PS was finished and the colleagues who were uncomfortable over the relationship suggests he was regardless of it being legal if he was of age by the time it began. There's also ethical as well as legal practice within a workplace- of which ITV is and has a duty of care to not only superstars like Philip and Holly but its junior staff too

ITV should be investigated over how they investigate and respond to conduct in the workplace - we're in a post Savile and metoo era now - what people have got away with before is irrelevant. Times have changed

You said there was plenty of data to support the notion that "Gay men are actually less likely to be paedophiles anyway."

You then presented some old stuff. Having asked you to kindly sop harranguing me, you post this.

Here you go.

The current estimated prevalence of homosexual pedophilia is anywhere between 9 and 40% (Hall and Hall, 2007); the ratio of heterosexual to homosexual pedophiles was approximately 1.4:1 among men with CSA offenses in another study using phallometry (Freund and Watson, 1992).

So PS didn’t sleep with his partner until he was an adult? This could have been a straight man just as easily met a girl of 14 or 15 then ended up in a relationship with her 5 years later. In my opnion his sexuality is irrelevant. He’s certainly no Jimmy Saville and I wouldn’t lump him in with the other celebrities accused of having sex with minors over the years. Has PS admitted he had feelings for his partner when he was still a child? Unless he has it can’t be called abuse or peadophilia.

dancinginthesky · 06/06/2023 12:47

PS has only admitted to having a relationship once the man was of consenting age. PS has enough evidence online to be under scrutiny that he may have targeted this man from a child and groomed him into participating in the relationship.

We don't know beyond that. We can only speculate at this point however his interview left me feeling very uncomfortable about the influence he may still hold over MM and certain that MM is not free enough from this influence which is still being held over him by the media who allowed PS to state on air that they're friendly despite not speaking to him and he's paying his lawyers

Idontpostmuch · 06/06/2023 14:58

LifeIsPainHighness · 05/06/2023 17:26

What’s the difference exactly? Because those are saying the same thing

A big difference. 'Paedophiles are less likely to be gay men' means that a paedophile selected at random is less likely to be gay than straight. Since the majority of men are straight, then it follows that any man selected at random is more likely to be straight and, in the same manner, a paedophile selected at random is more likely to be straight. However, 'Gay men are less likely to be paedophiles' can only be confirmed or denied with a study comparing percentage of gay men with paedophile convictions AND percentage of straight men with similar convictions. This is what Wakemeup is saying.

That he had an affair, that he lied to his wife and children for twenty years, that he abused his position of power, that he lied to his employers and Co star, that this young man was paid off from his job after he let it slip he had feelings for Schofield, that bosses at ITV also glossed over things

Also sexing someone thirty years younger is also a bit gross, especially if you had been mentoring them and taking them along to the NTAs

Quitelikeit · 06/06/2023 15:04

I also agree his sexuality is irrelevant aside from the fact he used his coming out as a way to deflect what he had done with this employee

I mean that was a canny idea wasn’t it considering apparently none of his Co stars or bosses knew about the relationship

I agree. The obsession that he had an affair and was really gay is irrelevant.

Unintentionallycausingoffence · 06/06/2023 16:27

It’s true he was groomed? or is it simply he’s ex partner (male) getting revenge? If he was jealous of PS seeing another man.

Whether PS did anything wrong or NOT the truth will come out.

I don't think anyone has suggested MM is a bitter ex lover seeking revenge... MM isn't the person whos reported PS, spoken to media or done anything

He's remained silent since. Whether he wishes to continue to be silent who knows with PS paying his lawyers and telling everyone how MM feels

Woah, he’s not ‘getting revenge’?!

Unlike PS, he hasn’t said a word.
