There is a lot of unpleasant ageism on this thread. It is one thing to be critical of them having a child when the age gap is so great but what is it with the “geriatric cock” and similar comments? What age do the posters think that you have become so repulsive you can’t be loved? 60, 70? I ‘m sure they will have thought this through.

I know a couple in real life who have a similar age gap and three young children. Not in it for the money in this case and he’s a very fit man, albeit in his late 70s. A bit weird at first but now I don’t think anything of it, they appear to be very happy.

There is nothing to suggest Mr Pacino is an unfit man, never heard of any suggestion of coercive control or other ill treatment towards any relationship with a woman, and he has not broken any marriage vows. Or tried to deny he was ever married to someone, as Mick Jagger did.

women get all the flack about being older mums, increase risk of downs and other issues, but it is conveniently not discussed the very well established issues with the genetic mutations that creep into sperm with age.

But there is a known risk with aging paternity and it is not discussed enough . It is highly risky for him to father a child at that age both to the child AND to the mother, surprisingly. At best it is ignorance, at worst it is selfish, and even narcissistic

They are both very selfish bringing a child into the world knowing one parent will die before it grows up.

I would say the woman is more to blame in this than him.

She is a young woman who only dates old, rich men and knows that her partner isn’t going to live for much longer.

I had an older father, it was a 2 generation gap - God I loved him but was a different relationship due to his age - I almost felt protective of him

I guess many men have babies and are not involved in their lives long term but I cannot fathom why you would WANT to do it - I guess he has the finances to outsource lots of things but not the feelings of the child
