Are we allowed to talk about this young man's videos and the wider impact he may have on youth culture?

(Not sure as it involves ongoing legal issues, I believe?)

I don't live in London, nor do I watch TikTok, so the behavior of this young man, and the police's lack of action towards him, has really shocked me! How was he only arrested and fined AFTER becoming infamous online? How is asking a lone young woman if she "wants to die" seen as funny?

Given his notoriety, I'm worried he will lead to a load of copycats now Angry

@Yellowtowelsdear the latest one was getting into the drivers compartment of a train and mucking about in there, he has also "surfed" on top of a bus, walked into someone's home and sat down, gone into a library and torn up books, stolen a ladies dog... he is a total loser tbh but he thinks he's hilarious he will upset the wrong person sooner or later

This screams mental illness. Why isn't he being whisked away to some mental health facility to be assessed? This isn't normal, whether it's called pranks or not.

TheTERFnextDoor · 29/05/2023 17:56

This is what I don't get, what does he actually have to do for the police to take his behavior seriously?

I know he's in prison ATM, but that's only because he broke his ASBO (or whatever it's called these days), not because of the actual crimes he's committing.

He’s the perfect example of “tell me you have a personality disorder without telling me you have a personality disorder”

He's an absolute twat but intimidating and dangerous. My teen son has shown me some of his videos thinking they are hilarious and I was appalled. I watched one where he barges into a family home and refuses to leave even when the dad of the household is remonstrating with him that there are small kids in the house. This creature is a father himself. God help us.

As someone who has been burgled twice I think that I would have a breakdown if this happened to me. Why is it considered "funny" to possibly terrify and traumatise people. I know young people do idiotic things for dares but this is just horrible. In the last year of her life my poor very unwell mum encountered a burglar on her stairs, she never got over it. To find a stranger in your home is profoundly distressing, how anyone finds it entertaining is beyond me, where is the empathy, the ability to stand in another's shoes?

Tidsleytiddy · 29/05/2023 17:59

Someone needs to knock him out and they probably will. Little shit

The lad is an absolute moron. No wonder his mother wants nothing to do with him. He only targets vulnerable people as he's obviously too scared of the outcome if he actually approached somebody who would fight back.
Hope he gets sent to prison. It isn't entertainment its crime. Theft, trespass, threats to kill, assault. What more are the police waiting for?

If he does end up in jail I wouldn't give much for his chances, they will be queuing up to give him a taste of his own medicine

The Princess of Wales was meeting with a man who Murdered around that age and the attitude seems to be that the victims family should get over it.

I assume the same attitude is the accepted motion regarding this lad, as he has served his time, he can do as he pleases apparently.

I find this such an odd reply. Like the two aren't even linked.

Sorry, can you provide a bit more info? I’ve googled “Emily Matiss” and “TikTok prank killed driver Emily” and nothing comes up at all for either.

I apologise, for some reason I typed the wrong surname.
You need to Google Emily Talcott, not Matiss.
Basically, she was desperate to be ' noticed ' in much the same way as the arsewipe who this thread is about.
She filmed herself speeding down a road and smashed into another vehicle which was being reversed into a gentleman's driveway, killing him.
She claimed to have drunk two white claw drinks ( alcoholic drinks ) at the time of her driving.
She then went on to try to promote the drink following killing the innocent motorist.

VERY!

tennesseewhiskey1 · 29/05/2023 18:12

He 100% is going to prank the wrong person - especially in London.Bet he wouldn’t try this in America - can you imagine?! Breaking into someone’s house - they would shoot him as an intruder and be well within their rights too.

DojaPhat · 29/05/2023 16:58

You need serious intervention if your hope is that a teen gets assaulted by a big man.

I need an intervention too then. I'd laugh llike a drain

Thesharkradar · 29/05/2023 18:14

I blame his (surely absent?) father

You can use reasonable force in the UK. Reasonable force is anything deemed reasonable in regard the threat you are facing at that time.

Brave but true. How many weeping dads do you see when a black kid gets stabbed? It’s always the moms being left to bring up the kids alone.

EmmaEmerald · 29/05/2023 18:19

Iamnotthe1 · 29/05/2023 15:17

They aren't pranks. They are crimes and should be treated as such.

He is not a prankster: he's a criminal.

Agree

I also hope he targets someone who can dish out the right kind of punishment.

It’s white fathers too!

Wheresthebeach · 29/05/2023 18:23

He’s awful. But that what SM and celebrity culture based on being ‘entertaining’ but not talented gets you. He needs locking up before somebody gets badly hurt.

stbrandonsboat · 29/05/2023 18:30

We have our own village version of him. Setting fires, spray painting cars, putting bricks through people's windows and it all goes on tiktok. Police aren't bothered. He'll kill someone one day.

GulesMeansRed · 29/05/2023 18:32

A prankster was something like Dom Joly with his massive mobile shouting I'M ON THE PHONE while people filmed the bemused reaction of passersby.

This guy is not a "prankster". He's a criminal menace.

Thesharkradar · 29/05/2023 18:14

Doubt it. Lots of people with absent fathers who don't turn out with maniacal behaviours or possible personality disorders. For his mum to wash her hands off him, he must have been a terror for a while or from the beginning. Something is clearly wrong with him which needs to be sorted.

Northernsouloldies · 29/05/2023 18:32

Bronx tales.. Now yous can't leave. Here's hoping he gets this.

Oh! I know him from work. He's an annoying idiot. I had no idea it was him though. (He thought it was hilarious to ride a bike into various Hackney Libraries) Prat.

@FormerlyPathologicallyHappy What cultures do that sort of thing 'culturally'?
