Where did you go Honeymoon?

We are getting married next year and trying to pick a place to go on honeymoon. We can’t agree on a destination.

My partner wants to do the USA (New York and then a internal flight to Miami) and I would like to do Thailand or Bali. Honeymoon is/would be in June 2024 so thailands rainy season which kind of rules it out.

Where did you all go on honeymoon ? And would you recommend it….

We have to take our 2 kids so must be family friendly. (age 12/10)

Hawaii! It’s great! But live on the west coast on the US so also pretty practical/close.

Kids that age would love Thailand. I'd check the weather forecast for June. When we were there, it rained for a couple of hours in the afternoon but then cleared up quickly.

Where we went was adults-only, so no point in recommending that. But if you’ve got two children already it’s hardly a honeymoon. It’s a family holiday. Maybe Butlins would be ideal?

It can still be a honeymoon even if we take the kids…. And why would butlins be ideal? I wouldn’t do butlins for a normal break let alone my honeymoon.

If I’m mentioning the US or Bali, Butlins is hardly on the same wavelength.

We went to Maui. Absolutely stunning, fine for kids and you could combine it with a city break in the US at the start and end. Lots of beach activities and there is a volcano bike ride with DH did that looks amazing which would be great for kids where you watch the sun rise from the top of the volcano and then free wheel down and have breakfast on the beach ⛱️.

Peru. We flew into Lima and toured about. It was a great place to go and see a variety of beautiful landscapes (deserts, mountains and canyons etc). Arequipa and Cusco were really gorgeous cities to visit. Machu Picchu was obviously amazing too.

It is not a honeymoon though.
It is a family vacation after you got married :)

So go anywhere ! See the Northern lights in Scandinavia. Or go to Italie to have a wonderful food journey. Or go to Indonesia where the people are beyond lovely. Go to Colombia for a trip of a lifetime. Sri Lanka for a spiced curry experience. Japan for an experience like no other

You should probably stop thinking of all these "honeymoon" destinations where you think one is supposed to go when one goes on honeymoon. Some places are better for actual honeymoon as there would only be 2 of you in a romantic atmosphere all loved up. Vs a holiday with the kids in the room next door and them complaining there is no wifi ;)

I can go anywhere on a honeymoon. I don’t think I should be going to somewhere because it’s a honeymoon 😂 and I can take my kids on my honeymoon too.

I think I might look into Maui. It sounds amazing.
