Feel this way about the death of Andy Rourke of The Smiths. They are one of my favourite bands of all time and just listening to them now. He was such a talented musician, he's the same age as my father, and I feel sad knowing he had such a cruel disease.

The Queen. I know it's odd but I think things have felt a bit weird since she died, like nobody is 'in charge.' Charles is absolutely not the same.

AgnesNaismith · 22/05/2023 10:37

Amy Winehouse

msssm · 22/05/2023 10:43

Chris Cornell and Layne Staley 💔

whoruntheworldgirls · 22/05/2023 10:44

Naya Rivera :-( seemingly used her last ounce of strength to get her son back on the boat before she drowned

Kurt Cobain. I loved his music, plus the fact he committed suicide despite having a young daughter he clearly loved, just seemed so desperately sad.

Also from the 1990s, Jeff Buckley and the circumstances around his death.

I think I'm in the minority here, but celebrity deaths don't upset me at all- because I didn't know them.
I remember being at work when we heard that Michael Jackson had passed. One of my colleagues was so upset they had to go home- it completely baffled me.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 22/05/2023 10:46

Helen McCrory's. Beautiful, incredible woman.

ImAGoodPerson · 22/05/2023 10:48

River Phoenix and Patrick Swayze. They were very influential to me growing up and I just feel so sad that they didn't get to show more of their incredible talent. Same for Freddie Mercury, this really hit me watching Bohemian Rhapsody film, my DS who was about 12 just kept saying how devastating it was that he died so young. It really was.

I was very sad about Luke Perry also. He was a big part of my teen years.

onefinemess · 22/05/2023 10:50

Meatloaf.

Floralnomad · 22/05/2023 10:52

I don’t get upset about celebrity deaths but I can’t listen to George Michael anymore . When Steve Irwin died I was had been working a night shift and one of the day girls at handover in the morning ( nursing ) was in absolute pieces wailing about Steve - I seriously thought her brother / husband / family member had died , it was bizarre .

TorviShieldMaiden · 22/05/2023 10:52

Carrie Fisher and also Andy Rourke.

Dedodee · 22/05/2023 10:52

The only one that I found upsetting was Robin Williams.

Bobshhh · 22/05/2023 10:54

Taylor Hawkins hit me incredibly hard and still does over a year later.

TorviShieldMaiden · 22/05/2023 10:54

And even though he’s turned into a right Bellend, I know I’m be sad when Morissey dies.

Willmafrockfit · 22/05/2023 10:54

i remember where i was when John Lennon died
i also remember the day Princess Diana died, that was an emotional week, very much milked by the media

littleripper · 22/05/2023 10:56

George Micheal
Amy Winehouse

Such talent and such amazing attractive sparkly people who had the life sucked out of them and died in such sad ways.

Dartmoorcheffy · 22/05/2023 10:56

Meatloaf, Paul OGrady, Caroline Flack, Paul walker

GodisaBC · 22/05/2023 10:56

Really upset by Princess Di and Caroline Flack.

Willmafrockfit · 22/05/2023 10:57

also sad for Amy Winehouse

Cookerhood · 22/05/2023 11:03

I'm sad for their families & that amazing talent has gone but none of them ever hit me hard. I didn't know them so don't see how it could.
The queen was very old, had clearly been declining but went very quickly, in her favourite place, I just don't see how that is sad. Mind you, with Charles now on the throne...

Ujustcan031289 · 22/05/2023 11:03

@donkey86 Same. Frank Turner's song 'A Wave Across A Bay' about Scott is so beautiful. Absolutely bawl my eyes ou

FoFanta · 22/05/2023 11:09

I am still upset about Prince. The fact that a man who was loved by so many, could die completely alone was heartbreaking for me.

Michael Landon - I loved Little House on the Prairie and the very cheesy angel programme, and he represented an ideal, twinkly eyed Dad figure to me. I was about 18 when he died and it was the Summer I left home so it is all caught up with end of my childhood/adolescence.

Vincent Hanley - he was an Irish tv presenter who presented the best music show ever shown on RTE - the highlight of my rural early teen weekends.

ImAGoodPerson · 22/05/2023 11:11

I do think for many it's a loss that is quite personal, many celebs are a huge part of teenagers lives, I mean just look at what happened when Take That split, imagine of one of them had died. They are very genuine emotions IMO.

Kindofcrunchy · 22/05/2023 10:36

Same, both such incredible voices. Couldn't believe it

And me. Really taught me that depression is not linked to what you have or don’t have. Both talented and successful in their field yet still were depressed enough to think that taking their own lives were preferable than carrying on.
So sad.

Always4Brenner · 22/05/2023 11:13

Roger Moore my first crush also that day that dread Manchester bombing that was so sad. Alan Rickman plays Hans Gruber held in my view sexiest villain crown for 30 years. Until another took.
