Being induced tomorrow, baby has stopped growing

Posting for traffic, I don't know if I need a handhold, to hear others stories of similar or just to offload my anxiety.

38 weeks and 2 days, went for a growth scan today and to my shock, they've asked me to go home and get stuff ready and be back in for 10am tomorrow for induction.

Reason for scans throughout is history of 13 miscarriages, covid in pregnancy and a previous low lying placenta (had moved up at 36 week scan).

Baby hasn't grown much if at all since 2 weeks ago, they sent me up to ward for monitoring and baby's movements and heart rate are fine, my fluid is fine but my placenta has more or less stopped working. Blood flow and oxygen okay.

I was due to be induced on due date, thought I'd have some time to prepare myself and relax but I'm in a tizz now. We've got everything and babies bag and mine is ready to go but I feel so rushed and unprepared now 😢

I'm worried about about her, they've put her estimated weight at 6lb but advised me to grab some tiny baby clothes if I hadn't already so we made a last minute trip to Asda tonight for those, just bought 8 vests and 8 babygrows in case she's bigger than expected.

They will be using the rods and see how I get on but I'm so scared all of a sudden.

Any words or wisdom or advice? Thank you x

Still only 1cm dilated, they told me I can either now have the stronger 6 hour pessary or csection.

I've had the pessary as one last shot, having contractions and some more pethidine just now and if this doesn't work I'm pulling the plug as I feel really drained.

Oh my love, I feel for you. I hope things pick up but if you need a C Section its not the end of the world. I needed one after my induction and everything was fine.

You're so close!

My second son was wedged - someone had a feel around and I heard the word 'caesarian'. I was so relieved. Whipped straight off to theatre where he was safely delivered.

That sounds hard work you must be shattered. I hope you meet your baby very soon.

reelcat · 19/05/2023 20:40

It is so draining. I have been in your position and picked c section. I have never regretted the decision!

PamDoooove · 19/05/2023 20:49

Please demand a c section. They did this with DS and by the end of our failed induction his heart rate was dropping and I was also distressed. Was so relieved when they told me I was getting a section. At that stage it really is just about getting baby out safely! Good luck, I really hope you get to meet her soon.

febrezeme · 19/05/2023 20:51

Go for the c section - a baby with no growth in 2 weeks a placenta stopped working and failed induction I'm surprised they've let this go on so long

Demand a c section

speedyhedgehog · 19/05/2023 20:54

I had similar with my triplets in that one was growing slower due to placental issues. When he measured 20% smaller than the other 2 at 34 weeks I was booked in for c section at 34w 4d. I needed a course of steroids for their
lungs as month earlier than you. They were all tiny but healthy and I'm so grateful to have them all here. They'll be 17 next birthday. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow x

speedyhedgehog · 19/05/2023 21:06

Oh gosh should read the full thread! Hope all progresses quickly now x

Cakeandcookies · 19/05/2023 21:16

I hope you are okay and if you have a section it goes smoothly. It will all be worth it for first baby snuggles. Lots of hugs for you x

AFineBalance · 19/05/2023 21:19

If they suggest drip consider asking for epidural at same time. I’ve had a couple of inductions and took all the drugs. Good luck!

HungryandIknowit · 19/05/2023 21:49

My c section was a lovely experience. I wish the same for you if you choose it!

goinginsaneinthemembrane · 20/05/2023 08:19

Hope your baby is here now OP ❤️

elm26 · 20/05/2023 09:29

Thanks everyone still no baby, I'm emotionally done. Dr is coming up to discuss c section.

Bless you @elm26 , you’ve been through it. I hope they whisk you to theatre and that you’re holding your baby very soon 💐💕

Ah yeah just get the section. Takes a couple of minutes to get the baby out and they'll place them on your chest and everything else will be a blur 🥰

dontknowwhybutitsbad · 20/05/2023 09:48

Good luck OP!

I made it to 4cm after 48 hours. Never been so glad of a surgeon and a scalpel!

pontipinemum · 20/05/2023 11:25

Oh OP I feel for you. I didn't want to say earlier when you were going in. I was induced and after they tried a good few things and 3 days I ended up having an EMCS anyway. There is nothing at all wrong with taking the section. I think if they offer again I'd take it. You must be exhausted.

GoodVibesHere · 20/05/2023 11:46

In this situation I would 100% request a c-secton.

Americano75 · 20/05/2023 12:04

There's literally nothing to discuss, the section is the best option.

booboo24 · 20/05/2023 13:25

Oh op bless you you must be exhausted. Surely there's no option now, the section must be the best course now for both of you x

speedyhedgehog · 20/05/2023 14:42

Hope you've had the section by now OP and you're holding your precious newborn x

Giselletheunicorn · 20/05/2023 14:44

Hope all's well, Op. a friend of mine ended up in a very similar situation to you and her daughter is 8 now and perfectly healthy....

Robinni · 20/05/2023 14:49

@elm26 Hoping all goes well. I had a similar three day induction extravaganza before emergency c section. Would have done anything to end the experience. Go for it! It’s such a relief and you will recover quicker than you think. Lots of love to you, it’s a lot to go through. xo

uncomfortablydumb53 · 20/05/2023 14:53

Hope DD is in your arms now
