Being induced tomorrow, baby has stopped growing

Posting for traffic, I don't know if I need a handhold, to hear others stories of similar or just to offload my anxiety.

38 weeks and 2 days, went for a growth scan today and to my shock, they've asked me to go home and get stuff ready and be back in for 10am tomorrow for induction.

Reason for scans throughout is history of 13 miscarriages, covid in pregnancy and a previous low lying placenta (had moved up at 36 week scan).

Baby hasn't grown much if at all since 2 weeks ago, they sent me up to ward for monitoring and baby's movements and heart rate are fine, my fluid is fine but my placenta has more or less stopped working. Blood flow and oxygen okay.

I was due to be induced on due date, thought I'd have some time to prepare myself and relax but I'm in a tizz now. We've got everything and babies bag and mine is ready to go but I feel so rushed and unprepared now 😢

I'm worried about about her, they've put her estimated weight at 6lb but advised me to grab some tiny baby clothes if I hadn't already so we made a last minute trip to Asda tonight for those, just bought 8 vests and 8 babygrows in case she's bigger than expected.

They will be using the rods and see how I get on but I'm so scared all of a sudden.

Any words or wisdom or advice? Thank you x

That’s wonderful news, congratulations! She’s an absolute beauty. I was induced on the drip for my eldest when my waters went early. I remember the pain, even with gas and air and half a shot of pethidine. You have done amazing, especially with all the delays. Hope you can get some rest.

Congratulations!
My first was 5lb 5oz at 34 weeks and now she is a lovely adult with a good job and expecting her own first baby.
Also her middle name is Isabella!
I hope you are both recovering well and I wish you and your family all best wishes.

My boy was induced at 38 weeks + 2days for the same reason, born weighing 4lbs 8oz. He's 6 foot tall now 😁

Congratulations, but what a tough labour. I hope you are managing to get some sleep as you must be exhausted!

I had a emergency C at 35 weeks (DD 5lb 4oz) and my strapping teen is sat upstair revising for her GCSEs (I hope). Nothing was ready at home, though we did have a cot, and I was supposed to be going through a birth plan with the midwife the following week. We spent the first year with the "what to expect" manual close to hand as learning about parenting was on my "to do list" for maternity leave (that I'd started 2 days before).

I was able to carry DD around in a sling for a lot longer than most as she chugged along at 50% centile for her preschool years. I do remember that everybody else's babies looked enormous for the first year.

We tended to just roll up sleeves with first babygrows and I seem to remember we struggled a bit to find small hats (internet shopping was in its infancy). From memory the French brands did the skinnier size babywear (La Redoute/Vertbaudet/Petit Bateau etc); there is probably a bit on eBay if you want to trim the budget.

Huge congratulations OP, she's beautiful.

I hope you are managing to take it all in and not feeling too shell shocked. But if you do feel like you've been run over by a bus, remember that motherhood is a marathon, not a sprint, and it's fine to take things at your own pace and do what feels right for you. Take care of yourself as well as that gorgeous wee bundle!

Tilly Isabella born at 02:16 22/05/23 weighing a dinky 5lb 15oz 🩷 we are so in love.

2 failed epidurals, kept turning the hormone drip up. Went from 4cm to 10cm in 9 minutes and nobody believed me she was coming. I was screaming trying to get off the bed crying begging my DH to get them to put me down as I couldn’t bare it anymore. Suddenly alarms went off and anaesthist, consultant and midwives were all back in the room shouting at somebody to get me back on the bed properly so I could push. I think I went into shock. Was really traumatic to be honest, she was also back to back and they couldn't turn her. She's so worth it all but I won't be doing it again in a hurry!

Thanks so much everyone xxx

Huge congratulations lovely! She is just so cute! 💖 Sounds like such a traumatic birth bless you. When everything is settled definitely ask for a debrief with the specialist midwife. Helped me so much.
Enjoy every minute of your baby bubble 💕

Hope you are doing okay. I had two back to back babies and very fast labours. First baby I fully dilated in 50 minutes but needed and emergency ceaserian. The second was even faster than the first. From first contraction to birth was about three hours. I rang my consultant and said, I'll be seeing you in an hour or two and she thought I was mad. I almost had DD in the carpark with a big crowd around me. Luckily an ambulance driver got me into the hospital and I gave birth in the triage room. The shock of it can really have an impact on you, so do talk to your health visitor, new mum friends (when you make them), DH, family. It takes a while to process. She is gorgeous by the way!
