This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

It's actually worrying on this thread how many people have their head stuck in the sand over it all.

@Blancmangemouse good point.

@MargotBamborough you know there's a lot more ways to support women's rights than just the one you keep banging on about? Equal pay, mat leave provision, child care cost support, to name but a few.

Yes, and in order for those sex based rights to be effective you need to be able to identify people based on their real sex, not their imaginary one. When you allow any man who has watched too much porn to sign a piece of paper and declare that he is now legally female, it becomes a whole lot harder for women who are actually female to make equal pay claims.

And PLEASE will left leaning posters not take the bait and engage in fights about “what a woman is”. There is an effort to make this philosophical question the central political issue, when it actually is not, in an effort to stop people voting Labour.

Trying to persuade otherwise left-leaning people not to vote Labour because “they don’t know what a woman is” is like telling the Turkey that they should vote for Christmas because “Santa knows what a Turkey is.”

Choosing to die on this molehill is ignoring the mountainous issue of how dangerous the conservative party has become.
The presence of government ministers and MPs at this event says a whole lot both about the government and wider party membership, because that is how this horrible lot have landed in positions of power and influence over us.

We are boiling like a frog and don’t realise how widespread these views are until there are such numbers that the e mask can be revealed. And then it is too late!

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

So you support the National Conservatism movement as linked by the OP, and all that it stands for?
Thank you for taking the time to justify your views :-)

It’s not the ‘what is a woman’ that is concerning me it’s much broader than that

Silencing, language erasure, threats of violence and actual violence in response to women

It’s happening with the left now o/s too and given everyone is convinced they will be in next it is interesting there is no concern over it with many posters

I don’t expect anyone to change how they’ll vote, I doubt anyone will ever do that due to posts on here, but I am asking questions on pp being terrified when silencing, violence and threats are here and within Labour party who apparently is a shoe in

So start a thread on it - this thread is not about trans - it's about the Nat Con conference.

All you've done is try to derail it - there's no problem with the debate or the discussion on this and not trying to silence you, but you are just trying to derail this particular thread.

What are your thoughts on prominent Tory MPs who have attended this conference?

Exactly.

All these people wanging on about authoritarianism and even Nazism, ffs, blithely ignoring the authoritarianism coming from the left on this issue.

Nadia Whittome said that people who don't believe women can have penises should be offered the opportunity to be re-educated, and if they don't change their minds, should be expelled from the Labour Party.

I also must have fallen asleep and missed literally anyone on the political left condemning the actions of the trans activists who show up to women's rights events with masks and weapons and assault women.

SunnyEgg · 17/05/2023 08:10

So start a thread on it - this thread is not about trans

No one is talking about ‘trans’

It’s women’s rights and the her concerns on where the parties are going

I know the left only want views that they agree with but tough really

I have answered that question, and posed a counter question, which is "what is the non misogynistic alternative?"

I'm not struggling with the question. You are struggling with the counter question.

Voting for left wing misogyny isn't a solution to right wing misogyny.

BodgerLovesMashedPotato · 17/05/2023 08:11

Wanging on 🙄
You might not be bothered about it, or might even embrace it for all I know but a lot of people funnily enough AREN'T OK with it and are rightfully worried.

IClaudine · 17/05/2023 08:11

Yes, please stop the derailing.

Anyway. It is very, very worrying. Are there any Tory voters on here who feel troubled by the views expressed by Tory ministers at the NatCon conference? Genuine question.

This thread is about the Nat Con conference.

And no problem hearing different views.

But this is about the Nat Con conference and especially prominent Tory MPs attending

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2023 08:16

I suppose another question should be is why the Home Secretary at a point of crisis should be spending her working hours at a US funded right wing think tank.
Does she not have enough to do?

Where did I say I wasn't worried about it?

I'm worried about it on both sides. You're only worried about Tory authoritarianism, not Labour authoritarianism.

Which tells me you're not actually bothered by authoritarianism, as long as it is authoritarianism you agree with.

I'd imagine if you read some of the talking points to many Tories that were from the prominent MPs, quite a lot would be shocked.

Some might agree - women should stay at home to have children, the traditional family is best,

Threads evolve

And it’s pretty obvious if Tories are out Labour are in

So people being terrified about Braverman trying for leadership in 2029, although pp says career killed so either way it’s further away than the next shoe in

It may not concern everyone but if it does it will come up. Some women are concerned. Not everyone that’s true but posters will post how they feel. Even if it’s not welcome that’s a forum with differing views

Yes, like sorting out the immigration system she is so critical of.

What is up with the sneering?

People have different concerns to you. Is it difficult to see that?

I don’t get why you can only hear views in line with your own

it’s a particularly left response.

Is that why the Tories proposed more hours of funded childcare and women on Mumsnet started moaning that this government just wants to force people to work and have their children looked after by strangers then?

Schrodinger's sexists.

cakeorwine · 17/05/2023 08:23

Well, Lee Anderson and Toby Young are up today.

As well as David Starkey. Which is interesting as he said some things about Sunak that didn't go down too well.
