clairvoyant told me to expect pain

I was attending a private event yesterday - in an upstairs area of a restaurant. As I came out of the loo there was a woman (not part of the party but had come upstairs from the general area of the restaurant to use the loo) stood chatting to my friend. I said hello assuming it was another guest from the party that I hadn’t met.

The new lady was crying, and said she was overcome with emotion because she could see how lovely my friends future was going to be and how someone who she’d lost was by her side. I was really taken aback as it had also let to my friend crying (she lost her husband a few years ago and mention of loss is very hard for her). My friend kept telling me to take down the new ladies number as she was brilliant, but I avoided this request when I realised she wasn’t part of the party.

When I realised it was just a random lady, I was polite but clearly eager to leave the room as it was evident both were pretty drunk. I don’t think I hid it very well that I was sceptical.

My friend then said “oh lily is getting married next week tell her if her life will be ok!” The random woman asked me to look into her eyes and although I did, I struggled to maintain eye contact as I wanted to leave.

The woman then started crying again said she was so overcome with emotion as she could see so much pain in my life. I was stood quite shocked and just said ok (whilst trying to dab my friends tears still as we were supposed to be at a happy event).

Now I’m lay awake unable to sleep as I keep thinking why would someone make this up?

I will be marrying the love of my life in 5 days and this is not what I needed to be thinking about. AIBU to still be thinking about it?

I also saw a clairvoyant in Vegas 11 years ago. At the time we knew we’d be trying for a baby after the holiday and I was nervous it wouldn’t work out due to some previous gynae issues. I didn’t let on though. And the clairvoyant mentioned many things, but not a baby. She mentioned a new home, travel, ‘developments at work’ over the next 2 years but no baby.

A month later I was pregnant. Funny she never mentioned that.

KnackeredBack · 14/05/2023 16:05

I think you've just been nobbled by a drunk, daft person hanging about in loos, handing out advice that no-one asked for. Ignore...hard.

Some clairvoyants are genuine but don't proceed to give people messages while drunk in a toilet. Unless she said something very specific to your friend, dismiss it entirely. After all, everyone has lost someone close to them so could easily latch onto those words. And genuine psychics don't give people bad news like that either.

OMG this has made me so nostalgic to watch TPB

It is a gift that keeps giving, isn’t it! You

Camillasfagwrinkles · 14/05/2023 19:11

Clairvoyants are not real. No one can divine the future. She's deluded or a con artist.

BabyStopCryin · 14/05/2023 19:20

Oh my goodness what rubbish! My sister went to see a famous clairvoyant when she always a teen. She told her that her first husband (there would be more) would be an evil drug addict and that she would divorce him. She was engaged at the time.

Her lovely husband of 40 years is absolutely not a druggie, rather straightlaced, doesn’t even swear… we always tease him about just being a temporary spouse.

Superdupes · 14/05/2023 19:34

Are you planning on having children once you're married - because giving birth because giving birth is very, very painful!

coloursquare · 14/05/2023 19:39

My friend dragged me to one once. Went like this:

"You're a nurse, aren't you"

"No"

"Well you're in a caring profession"

"No"

"Well you're a very caring person"

And on, and on....

@Asiatoyork i have zero doubts in terms of marriage but my first thought went to my husband to be will be hurt and I may loose him and be widowed! (He competes in a dangerous sport)

Why? Because a drunk woman in a loo told you something? Come on OP!

Lilypad26 · 14/05/2023 21:30

@user1473878824 i realise how ridiculous the thought process was now that I’ve reflected on it!

The Bible forbids any such things, forbids talking to the dead, talking with mediums, using taro cards, ouija boards etc. It is a channel into the demonic.
Visit a church and light a candle, repenting also.

Repent for what?

The Bible says a lot of things...

Mummyratbag · 14/05/2023 21:44

I'm up for a bit of woo, but this is the equivalent of the drunken men who corner you and swear they are in the SAS... yes of course you are...

@BeverlyHa I'm Catholic and when I converted I had to repent of a lot of things.

Anyone who's had any involvement in this stuff should.

But OP herself doesn't have to as she didn't choose to consult a 'psychic,' the 'psychic' inflicted herself on her.

HappyMe6 · 14/05/2023 22:01

Op please put her silly comments out of your mind, no clairvoyant gets you to look them in the eyes she’s pathetic, I went to a so called clairvoyant years ago I was wearing black skinny jeans black top and black biker jacket. She told me to sit down and proceeded to tell me I was clinically depressed and my life was very dull . I blurts out laughing couldn’t be further from the truth . All because I was wearing black, needless to say I got up told her I will stop you there I will not be paying you a penny! You are talking a load of rubbish, she then said there are dark forces following me and I was to be careful. To which I replied I better go a different way home then.🤣🤣

porridgeisbae · 14/05/2023 22:39

@HappyMe6 Grin I had one psychically saying that I had tried marijuana. Then he tried to say this was evidence of his psychic powers that he knew this.

I was a teenage/early 20s goth/grunge type dressed all in black and with long black hair. What were the chances? Grin

Yes and a lot of saying black was negative too. Or one time a newager annoyed me and I happened to be wearing a red top. She implied that it was the red that was making me angry. Grin

HappyMe6 · 14/05/2023 23:03

Porridgeisbae funny isn’t it 🤣🤣🤣 I am actually psychic myself. I can’t give readings though, just see things and hear, we have a very good medium near me, I’ve seen her a few times I don’t tell her a thing and she’s amazed me, each to their own BeverlyHa I wouldn’t dream of telling someone what they can do and what they can’t.

Frazzledmummy123 · 14/05/2023 23:15

I went to a 'psychic' for a reading once many years ago and I was told "I'd have 3 children but only bring up 2". I wasn't bothered by it too much as only planned to have 2, however my second pregnancy was twins so I have 3 kids.

I have spent the last few years in a state of high anxiety, remembering what this woman told me, and it has had me lying awake many nights worrying about it. I sought advice and comfort on forums and sites like MN, and the advice that has always kept coming up (including from someone who did psychic readings herself) was that no decent psychic worth their salt would ever say such a thing. I was also told that anyone genuine wouldn't say anything even if they did see it.

Therefore, I am going to echo this to you. As well as given the context of how this woman said this, to you, drunk and outside toilets at a function, it is highly unlikely she was genuine, but even if she was, she wouldn't have said anything if she did happen to foresee something.

Please don't give her a second thought. Although it is hard to do!

@HappyMe6 Everyone can do what they want it's just that unfortunately, some things people want to do damn them to hell for all eternity, unless they repent and make a determined effort not to do it again.

Except hell isn’t actually real.

sixthvestibule · 15/05/2023 00:43

About eight years ago a clairvoyant told me that she could see me reading an important document on an overcrowded boat with a donkey in it. I’m still waiting to find out what the heck that was about.
