Do you keep your toilet bleach in the bathroom?

As the title says… do you keep your domestos or other toilet bleach in the bathroom?

if so, where? Next to the loo, in a cupboard? If not, where in the house?

Please help settle a dispute with my boyfriend as to where the bleach belongs on the house.. it’s getting contentious now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Kitchen?
LTB!
.

This made me laugh far too much Grin

it’s a very early relationship and it’s definitely a red line if I was to ever live with him… there just has to be a bottle in the bathroom, even if not on show! The thought of doing the walk of shame down to his kitchen after a dodgy tummy is just too much Blush

Awww he’s definitely a keeper!
I really want to know what everyone is bleaching in their kitchen??

Iwasafool · 08/05/2023 20:24

White sink that looks awful when I'm washing up plates/saucepans that have been used for curry or something that stains. I'd never have a white sink again.

Definitely is. The fact we’ve been able to have an adult and awkward conversation in hysterics rather than defensiveness has been such a breath of fresh air from previous partners!

Wait but I still have bleach in the kitchen, just not toilet bleach - a normal thick bleach or kitchen spray would do the job?

Yes, in a cupboard in each bathroom and the ds loo. I don’t want it on show, but then I don’t want anything on show. I think it distasteful when people have spare loo rolls on show 🥴

You prefer to hide them from visitors, that's handy when they need one

MaisieDaisyMay · 08/05/2023 21:11

3 reasons I don't think much of his approach.

  1. I'd assume it's not used often enough.
  2. transfer between kitchen & bathroom -just no.
  3. no readily available to use when & where you need it.

I wouldn't be calling some a partner where I couldn't say 'oi, why isn't there any bleach in the bathroom. It's manky trf between kitchen & bathroom & it's not readily available to use. You need to buy another bottle'

Hopefully the visitors have hands with which to open the cupboard. If they don’t they’re not wiping their bums anyway.

I feel rude going through other people's cupboards. I will if I have to, but I much prefer it when spare rolls and bleach are on display without having to look for them.

RocketIceLollie · 08/05/2023 22:52

Yay Op on your little victory with the relocation of the bleach bottle. Little victories and all that. Reminds me of when I first got together with my boyfriend and I slowly started moving some of my things over to his, even though I never actually properly moved in. We eventually got a new place together, but yeah things like shampoos, hair dryer, makeup etc but yeah I took a bottle of bleach too as he didn't even have a bleach bottle in his place! I could almost sense all the germies being killed when I first squirt bleach round that loo 😆

I don't see much harm in a spare loo roll on display. What happens if the loo roll is approaching the end when guests are over and there is no loo roll in close quarters to the loo?

GodSaveTheClean · 08/05/2023 22:57

With young boys in our house frequently I never store anything next to the loo! 🤢

There’s a bottle of bleach in the cupboard in each bathroom and a bottle under the sink.

Toomanylatenightprogs · 08/05/2023 23:03

Bathroom bleach in the cupboard under the basin.
Cloakroom bleach on shelf next to the loo.
Kitchen bleach under the sink.
Bleach reserves in the larder. I use a lot of bleach. Probably too much.

HadalyEve · 08/05/2023 23:06

me viewpoint is that toilet bleach belongs to the bathroom, preferably next to the loo

Why?! It takes what 5 seconds to go to a utility cupboard and get bleach and brush if needed. I think keeping that next to the loo is lazy and untidy.

greenspaces4peace · 07/05/2023 17:31

All cleaning supplies (other than dish soap)in the laundry room in a potentially lockable cupboard.

That’s our MO too.

Loo bleach in the bathroom- next to toilet. Kitchen bleach in the kitchen.

This 👆

Love that some posters assume everyone else has a nearby utility room and/or plenty of spare cupboard space not to need keep the bleach next to the loo!

Personally I let the staff deal with such things

Having 3 bottles bleach by each loo takes up more space than one bottle bleach in one central location.

I've never seen a thick bleach that wasn't a toilet one? And the sprays are rubbish.

Anyway I have one in the toilet and one in the kitchen, just in case.

Ooh don’t even get me started on not being able to find spare loo roll when you’re a guest and mid-wee! 😅 my worst nightmare!
(thinking about it, spare loo roll is also in his kitchen.. and in a different cupboard to his bleach!)

I did feel like celebrating last night when I got home.. I’m just at the point of leaving shampoo/conditioner at his, and it felt like the right hill to die on 🤣 thankfully he is very clean, tidy and perhaps a tad too minimalistic - maybe that’s the problem - but he is lovely too.

Grin The staff should definitely be the ones brushing Wink

and to just confirm, no utility or anything, one bathroom upstairs in the furthest corner of the house, one kitchen immediately underneath that and a previously very awkward walk if you had to use the bleach Blush

only a bathroom cabinet on the wall, one of those very thin ones that wouldn’t have the shelf height for a bottle of bleach!

OP posts:
MrsToothyBitch · 09/05/2023 05:29

My bleach is on a high shelf above the loo. In a plastic bon with my other bathroom cleaning products.

The same shelf also has spare loo roll om it, I think pretty obviously so but sometimes people can't see it!

HelpMeGetThrough · 09/05/2023 05:30

In the gap between sink cupboard and the wall, tucked out of the way. Bottles are too tall to go in cupboard under the sink. I've got antbac, lime scale remover and shower screen cleaner.

The little gap was planned with the chap that fitted bathroom, so everything was neatly stored and not visible.

It satisfied the neat and tidy freak in me.

Simonjt · 09/05/2023 05:40

Non bleached based toilet cleaner is in the cleaning cupboard in the utility room, we have young children, so leaving a bottle of toilet cleaner by a toilet would be dangerous and irresponsible.

chopc · 09/05/2023 05:54

One in each bathroom and I leave the one in the cloakroom out on purpose because the idea is anyone using it can clean their skid marks and bleach it down (hopefully)
