Do you keep your toilet bleach in the bathroom?

As the title says… do you keep your domestos or other toilet bleach in the bathroom?

if so, where? Next to the loo, in a cupboard? If not, where in the house?

Please help settle a dispute with my boyfriend as to where the bleach belongs on the house.. it’s getting contentious now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes in a dark container with a lid on a shelf above the toilet.

The container has other loo cleaning products as I use bleach to mostly clean other things while some of the day-to-day cleaning products live on the actual shelf.

DD has never had any interest in cleaning products. Though I suspect I will have to hide them when she gets to about 8.

MightyFishwife · 07/05/2023 17:23

Next to the toilet. Because it’s for…the toilet?

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 07/05/2023 17:25

tell him to buy more than 1 bottle, keep a bottle in every convenient and appropriate place.

greenspaces4peace · 07/05/2023 17:31

All cleaning supplies (other than dish soap)in the laundry room in a potentially lockable cupboard.

defi · 07/05/2023 17:31

Yes next to the toilet brush for easy access cleaning.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 07/05/2023 17:32

Next to the toilet so it's easily accessible.

unsync · 07/05/2023 18:10

One in the loo and one in each bathroom. Where else would you keep it?

Hurrylater · 07/05/2023 19:12

Mine is hidden and I have to change the hiding place regularly.

A member of my family believes once a week isn't enough and would use it daily despite the fact it triggers mine and my child's asthma.

Prior to this it was kept in a basket with the rest of the cleaning supplies in the kitchen.

Coronationstation · 07/05/2023 19:14

Next to the loo in both bathrooms unless there’s small children visiting, in which case I put the one for the main bathroom in the cupboard under the bathroom sink. I never use bleach in the kitchen!

Firstmonthfree · 07/05/2023 19:15

It’s about 75p a bottle, I keep a bottle in each bathroom in the cupboard along with other cleaning supplies, can’t be doing with carting things round the house

thebestbirtheraccordingtoDD · 08/05/2023 08:05

I keep it in the gap behind the sink pedestal.
All
Other bathroom cleaners are hidden behind the laundry basket

DiscoBeat · 08/05/2023 08:08

Kind of a compromise here - bleach is kept in every bathroom AND the kitchen and utility room!

DiscoBeat · 08/05/2023 08:08

(All in cupboards)

gamerchick · 08/05/2023 08:10

Bleach doesn't belong in the house. It should be used sparingly. Like for stomach bugs.

Wish they would ban ths stuff really. People have no sense.

Justgorgeous · 08/05/2023 08:13

I keep all cleaning products downstairs. I don’t like seeing bottles of bleach on the floors.

Wannabegreenfingers · 08/05/2023 08:14

Next to the toilet. My children are older so not an issue.

Beezknees · 08/05/2023 08:16

Next to the loo, DS is 15 so I'd like to think he wouldn't accidentally ingest it 🤣

Ponoka7 · 08/05/2023 08:16

I've always had, wipes, bleach and air freshener in reach in the bathroom. As well as a nail brush by the soap and a bin. It saves anyone being embarrassed in any way.

thank you for the range of responses…

me viewpoint is that toilet bleach belongs to the bathroom, preferably next to the loo.

DP, keeps his in the kitchen. Which is downstairs and far far away from the loo 🤯

I just think I’m never going to poop at his house ever 🤣

Bleach in all bathrooms and the kitchen.

RocketIceLollie · 08/05/2023 08:18

Firstly, I'm impressed your boyfriend even knows where the bleach is kept.

But yeah bleach here in kept in a wall mounted cupboard high above the loo with the rest of the bathroom cleaning products.

But if you ban bleach then you wouldn't have it available for tummy bugs.

His house, his rules!

A toilet bowl can still be temporarily cleansed just with a brush. If there’s shampoo around, a slug of that with the brush will help if you’re that worried. It’s all a load of marketing hype. They’ve all got some kind of “detergent” in them.

As it happens, I keep my toilet cleanser in a basket with other accoutrements in the bottom of the landing cupboard.

But what if you don't have a brush because they're disgusting?

I agree, I have never used bleach for anything like this. But this is MN where people put bleach down their toilet 10 times a day.

Undertherock · 08/05/2023 08:36

Wherever is most convenient for the person who cleans the toilet. Don’t add extra steps to someone else’s labour.

In our house it’s by the toilet except for the years when we had little people.
