Vernon Kay or Gary Davies?

Radio 2 listeners - are you counting down the days til Vernon get his 9.30 show or do you actually enjoy listening to Gary Davies and his drivel ?

I'll start. I'm team Vernon and I might actually go back to R2 when he starts.

I do like Gary but wish he wouldn’t bloody shout! Vernon is good fun although maybe talks a bit too much? On balance I would choose Gary.

Never ever liked Gary Davies. He's like a hospital radio DJ, has zero rapport with anybody he speaks to, whether celebrity or general public.

Vernon Kay I've never admired outside of radio but he is a warm, cheerful DJ and I really enjoy his relaxed, positive and friendly persona.

I don't mind Vernon, but I really like Gary and was thinking only this week that I would rather he stayed.

I don't dislike him, but the ' ohhh Gary Davies ' thing is a tad annoying
The new pop quiz is also not as good as ' pop master ' was and the scoring they use took me a while to work out as it's not as straight forwards as the other quiz.
Vernon seems ok , although his bound to have an annoying tag line introduction or whatever it's called !

I switched to GHR for Ken and Simon. Besides Liza Tarbuck, Pick of the Pops and Johnnie Walker, the station has gone to the dogs.

You mean you don't like it?

I find the radio 2 FB page curious, full of people who want r2 to continue catering only to their own tastes, including really stale DJs staying past their sell by date. Maybe r2 isn't a station for life, maybe it caters to a certain age and demographic and sometimes, it's time to move on.

Nobody will like all decisions. I was disappointed when Simon Mayo went and really miss his drive time segment, but I actually really like Sara Cox. Ditto the much missed Paul O'Grady.

It hasn't gone to the dogs though, it's just changed and plenty of people like it.

I’m looking forward to hearing Vernon, Gary Davies is ok, love Sara Cox but Scott Mills is terrible! Ritchie the travel guy stood in for him recently and he was great!

I can’t stand Vernon. Loves himself and is always talking about his antics ‘back in the day’.

Prefer Gary but do find him a bit stiff and awkward at times.

I love Gary Davies but can’t bear to listen to Vernon Kay. I love Ken Bruce but the playlists on GHR are boring. It’s mostly Boom Radio for me, just Radio 2 for Jo Whiley, Gary’s 80s (on now!), and Johnnie Walker’s 70s on Sunday.

I like Sara Cox too. She is permanently happy.
I do draw the line at Zoe Ball , she is just too much at that time.
I used to like Simon Mayo and his confessions section

Yes, Simon is good, BBC should’ve kept him on drive time, and I prefer Sara Cox on breakfasts instead of the insufferable Zoe Ball. Ritchie instead of Scott Mills, then if they’d just lose Tony Blackburn…

Yvetty - I find him a bit annoying doing the traffic but he was calmer and I thought very professional. Most of Scott Mills show seems to be replaying interviews he has had with people earlier!

I did enjoy Ken's show but we have to accept he wanted to move. Ditto Simon Mayo after the debacle of him having to share with Jo Whiley (I'm quite certain she wasn't thrilled about that either). However, I'm not going to move to listening to adverts every 10 minutes so R2 (and some R4 and R5) it has to be.

I love some R2 hosts - Claudia, Liza and Paul O'Grady (rip). I'm sure it's harder to host a daily show and keep it fresh - but Gary Davies is just so BLAND.

Please Vernon give us something a bit more engaging!

Can't wait for Vernon to start. I liked his other shows. Gary is just too in your face for me. Same as Zoe Ball. Wish she would shut up half the time.

I always liked Vernon when he covered other programmes so think he’ll do a good job. However, have enjoyed Gary more than I expected.

At some point, a radio station has to change presenters, and appeal to a new audience.

I prefer Scott Mills to Steve Wright
He plays some decent tunes and doesn't sing over them! Not that I listen in daily , but if it's on In the car , don't tend to turn it over to something else ( as I did with SW)
